Bad blood between Modise and Krol?

Posted: 22 February 2010 Time: 09:50

It appears that all is not well between Orlando Pirates midfielder Teko Modise and coach Ruud Krol.

Modise was not part of the Pirates squad on Saturday for the Soweto Derby and initial reports were that this was because he was injured. has gathered that Modise has been battling with an ankle injury that he picked in the League game against Maritzburg United and he was been using injections to subdue the pain.

When Krol pulled Modise out at half-time in the 2-1 mid-week loss to Maritzburg there were also reports that it was a tactical substitution.

But indications now are that there may be more to this than meets the eye.

Krol made no secret on Saturday after the Soweto Derby that he would rather focus on players interested in playing.

This has given weight to the suggestions that there is some bad blood between the two.

"Teko was injured in the game against Maritzburg United on Wednesday but then when we arrived back on Thursday he disappeared without saying anything and didn’t come to training.

"To me, that kind of player is not interested in playing and so I have to focus on other players," says Krol.

Krol added that this was the first time that he had faced this kind of problem with Modise.

There have also been suggestions that Modise is reserving his energy for the World Cup but Krol tells that he knows nothing about that.

He better be. jrrrr I like this player. Krol must leave TEKO alone and TEKO must adjust his attitude a bit,

Mr Editor the problem is with Krol. Even a little child knows that Teko has been carrying an injury and Krol has been playing him week in and week out. The coach need to give other players a chance and give those with injuries a chance to recover. I am not too sure whether he is doing this to cripple the player so that RSA is minus Teko during the Worl Cup.

This boy (Teko)- together with his crony, Khune - has become too BIG for his boots. If they think that they would walk straight into the starting XI during the opening WC game against Mexico, they are in for a major shock!

Teko Modise needs to get into Europe.HE has become complacent in a average local league and badly needs to play against quality opposition to reall y test his skill. Is he good enough to play in the UEFA Champions League against the worlds best. PSL footballers are below average. We can't expect miracles from PSL players at the World Cup

I think it's time for Krol to pack his bags and go. Yes he is over qualified and has vast experience but he has failed completely at Bucs. We lost so many talented youngsters yet he is lamenting the fact that he has old players nearing 30 yrs or more of age. Why did he let Mdledle leave knowing well that we have no proper left back except him? Mthombeni is not yet ready to be Bucs' material. Why did he insists in using Teko as a left winger whereas we have Phenyo and Chenene as natural left wingers? Mabalane is damn tired yet we have Joseph Makhanya on the stands. Mbuyane is a natural right winger as well. Yes Bucs' management has a final say in buying players but he must not forget that he is not familiar with SA players since he is from Europe thus he needs help. Sooner we will lose Kamwendo. He says Bucs have got no strikers yet he released Mushanghazike to Aces and Mabena is sitting on the stands. It make no sense to me to insist in using Mlungisi Gumbi at the expense of Mothibantwa. Gumbi and Seema must be offloaded to Thanda Royal Zulu like others. It's time to get a good local coach like Pitso Mosimane or Gavin Hunt or even Gordon Igesund. Bucs has money to afford them. I rest my case.

Rudi Krol and other foreign coaches eg. VV,Zobel and Stoich Kofi should be reminded hore they were brought to SA to help develop our players and turn them into world class plyers and stop moaning and behaving like cry babies. If they can't do their job they should just FOKOFF.!!!. Teko Modise is a central offensive midfielder and not a winger..

Modise must be left alone, he's a national asset that must be protected at all costs!

I'm tired of losing gifted individuals to foreign coaches who leave after a season or two for that matter!

Viva Teko Modise, uyay'bulala ibhari at your best!

I think Pearl suffers from intellectual defficiency. Only the blind can't see that Krol is also failing the team. His lineup off late hasn't been consistent, and it takes him a long time before he makes substitution. Terminator was tired in the second half, he introduced Gert and let him play as left wing, had Mashego, who was just a passenger, play for 90 minutes. There was Mongalo on the bench, and some of us know what the boy can do to Jimmy Tau. You also have Kamwendo, who is also not given a fair chance. The reason why people like Pearl think Teko is a cow is that he is played out of position and easily closed down. also when you play a right footed player as left wing at the expense of abo Mongalo, just sucks. Chiefs coach didn't wait for the 71st minute, like Krol does, before taking Dladla off. I think Krol must go back to where he came from. By the way which foreign come, except for Ted, has won the league title since the inception of the PSL?
