Sharks sign Obuh

Struggling Premier League club Sharks have signed on John Obuh, Nigeria’s Under 17 silver-winning coach, as technical adviser to replace Kadiri Ikhana, who left the club midway through the season.

Obuh was at the Liberation Stadium on Sunday to see Sharks crumble to their third home loss of the season, going down 1-0 to Rangers, and was introduced to the players and officials a day later by the Rivers State Sports Commissioner Boma Iyaye.

Ikhana left the team after the club management failed to give him a proper contract when the last one ran out, despite repeated assurances to the contrary and Sharks Media Officer Confidence Idaa told KickOffNigeria.com that he is uncertain as to whether Obuh has been given a contract.

“For a coach of his stature to come here and accept the job, he must have been given a contract. But I can[t speak on that for now because I don’t know,” he said.

Club Secretary Cyril Wite was equally in the dark, saying: “I cannot say because I was not privy to the negotiations. We were just informed yesterday by the commissioner about his appointment. He has not started work yet. When he starts work, we will be in a position to discuss and know if he has a contract or not.”

Sharks currently lie bottom of the Nigeria Premier League with 15 points from 15 games.

Sharks is dying while Rivers governor is busy trying to disstabilize the SE.

elzo: 2010-01-26 21:44

What a shame! Sharks is running out of funds to sign a quality coach while the politicians in the state house and the governor are busy disseminating dollars made from oil into private bank accounts. What a shame! Be careful, Obuh. If you are wise, you will get a good lawyer before putting pen to paper. Whatever must have made Coach Ikhana to abandon ship and split, must be worth examining before you settle for anything.

AMODU A CONTRADICTION OF MIXFEELINGS. AN UGLY BAG OF JEWEL. WHAT A STORY!

THE AMODU SAGA IS SOMETHING OF A TALE OF DIFFERENT SIDES. LET'S BE VERY REALISTIC, THIS MAN AMODU IS ONE OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL COACHES IN NIGERIA BASED ON RECORD YET HE IS A MAN THAT HAVE PRODUCED GREAT RESULT WITH AN UGLY LOOK.

HIS PERFORMANCE SO FAR AT THE PRESENT NATIONS CUP HAVE BEEN SOME WORTH HORRIFIC YET HE HAS COME UP WITH A SEMI FINAL TICKET. OUR CRY IS FOR A BETTER TEAM DISPLAY AND A BIT OF FREE FLOW FOOTBALL THAT WE ARE USED TO. I DUELLY UNDERSTAND THAT THAT IS THE JOY OF THE SPORT.

THIS PRESENT EAGLES CAN PERFORM WITH OR WITHOUT A COACH. WHAT WE HAVE SEEN SO FAR IS NOTHING BUT THE SHARE BRILLIANCE AND DETERMINATION OF THE PLAYERS.

WHY IS THE AMODU STORY A TALE OF DIFFERENT SIDES? WHY NOT SACK HIM? WHY NOT LEAVE HIM TO CONTINUE? THIS IS WHAT WE ARE ALL CONTESTING. WELL, LET'S LOOK AT IT THIS WAY.

AMODU IS A GOOD LUCK CHARM BY MARE SITTING AT THE BENCH. THOUGH HE LOOK LIKE AN OBJECT OF OFFENSE YET HE GIVES WHAT HE IS MADE OF "LUCK" EVERY TEAM NEEDS THAT. WHAT DO YOU THINK?

WATCHING NIGERIA PLAY THESE DAYS CAN MAKE ONE CRY. IT IS SO SAD MOST ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU SEE YAKUBU PUTTING ON THAT CAPTAIN BAND AND EVEN GRACING THE FIELD. IT SHOWS YOU HOW POWERFUL AMODU'S LUCK CAN BE. EVERY TIME YAKUBU IS INCLUDED IN THAT TEAM IT IS JUST A MINUS ONE PLAYER.

IF A BAD TEAM AS BAD AS WE HAVE SEEN WILL PLAY EVEN WITH A MAN MINUS FROM THE START DUE TO THE INCLUSSION OF YAKUBU AND STILL WIN, THEN IT MUST ALL BOIL DOWN TO A CERTAIN FORCE. THE AMODU SYNDROME (LUCK)

THEREFORE, FELLOW NIGERIANS, LET US NOT KILL OURSELVES OVER NFF CHOICE OF AMODU. HE IS ALREADY A CONTRADICTION OF THE HIGHEST DEGREE. HE IS LIKE A BLUNT AXE THAT CUTS AT THE END. AMODU IS LIKE A CHILD THAT IS BORN UGLY BUT FOR THE SAKE OF THE GIFT OF LIFE ONE WILL POLITELY SAY AT THE NATIVITY WHAT A HEALTHY CHILD. LOL. THAT IS AMODU. I WILL LIKE TO LIVE AND NOT DIE SO DO MANY NIGERIANS, WE LOVE THE GAME SO MUCH AND OUR COMMITMENT TO THE NAME NIGERIA IN FOOTBALL WILL NOT LET US GO TO SLEEP WHILE THE EAGLES ARE PLAYING THEREFORE DEAR NFF, PLEASE SPEND A LITTLE MORE OUT OF YOUR ALREADY TIGHT BUDGET TO BRING IN A BEAUTICIAN TO COMB UP THE EAGLES AND TO MAKE THEM UP.

ALL I WILL HUMBLY SAY AS A CONCLUSSION IS, GIVE US A TACTICIAN AND ADD AMODU TO THE TEAM IN WHATEVER CAPACITY BECAUSE OF HIS...

I REST MY CASE.

Sharks management should stop chasing shadows. After the man broght them back from national league they refused to give him a proper contract........if they are not careful, they will land in the national league again.

a stich in time obuh saves nine

Love: 2010-01-27 13:59

Obuh, dont allow this people rubbish your records. make should you study theirt contracual aggrement. dont make urself so cheap all in the name of handling a premier league team

Love: 2010-01-27 14:00

Sharks with the way they are going might not escape the drop at the end of the season. losing as many as 3games at home in the first stanza is enough credentials to confine them to the less prestiguos national league

Love: 2010-01-27 14:02

As a man lay their bed so they lie on it. Sharks is reaping the fruit of their inhuman treatment of the man that brought them from the national league to the premier league. they might not survive the relegation scare all season. Up Enyimba.................

You see that is my problem with Nigerian coaches, why not stick out your neck with the U-20 job they gave you? Why do you have to go and take Sharks job. We have no natural left winger in NIgeria. Why not go and look for one for us?? Haba Obuh. You are on your own.
