Angola up for Ghana challenge

Posted: 2010-01-22 13:29

Angola say they have great respect for Ghana but are convinced they will be up for the challenge of defeating the four-time champions on Sunday.

The Black Antelopes are looking to become the 12th host nation to win the tournament on home soil but they must first beat Ghana, semi finalists two years ago if they are to reach their first semifinal.

Manuel Jose has crafted a side that have been thrilling at times in attack and shocking in their defending especially in their amazing draw against Mali and they head into the Ghana game with their tails up.

Midfielder Ricardo Job says: "We've played Ghana before here at home. We know they are a good team. We saw them play against Burkina Faso and know they are a great team. We are prepared to face the difficulty we are going to find on Sunday but we will do all we can to reach the semis."

That game between Ghana and Angola Job referred to was a goalless draw in Luanda that became infamous for the Awol acts of Sulley Muntari, Asamoah Gyan and Michael Essien.

Rajevac also opted to rest virtually his entire first options in that game. His player options in Angola have also been badly affected by injuries and the absence of key players but the Angolans have seen enough to convince themselves the Stars will be their toughest test yet.

"Ghana is a tough team, they have great players and they are extremely difficult to beat and because the quarters are one off matches, we have to ensure we are up for the challenge," Djalma said.

This is the 3rd time i'm taking note of the Angolan unsportsmanship act since the tournament began. They didn't provide a training ground for some team, when they were to play against them. They did same, with another team, in their group stage. Now they've resolved to getting physical. Well, it's over for them....

MACKY,YOU ARE EITHER IGNORANT OR PLAINLY STUPID,DO U REMEMBER ANYTHING APART FROM THE SCORELINE ABOUT THAT MATCH?I GUESS NOT,COS IF U DID U WILL KNOW THAT NIGERIA WAS AWARDED A PENALTY AND GHANA'S CAPTAIN WAS SENT OFF WHEN THE SCORE WAS 1 ALL.SO WE BEAT U WITH 10 AGAINST 11.AND I DIDN'T KNOW THAT ANY COUNTRY THAT HOSTS THE AFCON HAS THE RIGHT TO APPOINT THEIR OWN REFEREES TO OFFICIATE THEIR MATCHES. IF SO WHY DIDN'T NIGERIA APPOINT THEIR OWN REF IN 2000 SO AS TO DEFEAT CAMEROON IN THE FINAL. I GUESS U ARE EITHER A TODDLER OR AN ADULT WITH A TODDLER'S BRAIN.MOVE ON IN LIFE AND LIVE THESE SMALL ISSUES OF FOOTBALL IN THE PAST,GHANA WILL BEAT NIGERIA SOMETIMES AND NIGERIA WILL BEAT GHANA SOMETIMES.IF U CANT TAKE THIS,DONT WATCH FOOTBALL!
AND STOP INSULTING PEOPLE WHO EXPRESS THEIR PATRIOTIC VIEWS,ITS GOT NOTHING TO DO WITH U.PERIOD.
IF U WERE A WISE PERSON U'D HAVE MOVED ON FROM TWO YEARS AGO AND WOULD BE LOOKING FORWARD TO NIGERIA LIFTING THE CUP THIS TIME AROUND, HOWEVER,UNFORTUNATELY U R COMPLAINING ABOUT PAST EVENTS THAT HAVE NO INFLUENCE ON CURRENT AND FUTURE EVENTS.I PITY PEOPLE LIKE U A LOT,COS IF U CANT GET OVER COMMON FOOTBALL LOSSES,I WONDER HOW U'LL MOVE ON WITH UR LIFE AFTER A BREAKUP WITH A LOVED ONE,AFTER SUFFERING A FINANCIAL LOSS IN UR BUSINESS OR AFTER MAJOR PROBLEM IN UR LIFE.REMEMBER THAT WHEN YOU MAKE A MISTAKE THER IS ALWAYS A NOTHER CHANCE TO CORRECT IT,WHEN U FAIL THERE'S ALWAYS A CHACE OF SUCCEEDING THE NEXT TIME AROUND.FOR THIS REASON WE SAY THAT FAILURE IS NOT THE ACT OF FALLING DOWN BUT RATHER THE ACT OF STAYING DOWN,SO MOVE ON WITH UR LIFE AND STOP BEING SUCH A *****!
