Mambas bite Nooij

Mozambique has given coach Mart Nooij the bullet after the team failed to reach the knockout stages of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Fezal Sidat, chairman of Mozambique's football federation, told the Associated Press by telephone from Angola that the Dutch coach's contract will not be renewed when it expires at the end of January.

"There is no point to renew with Mart Nooij, who could not fulfill his goal of taking the team to the final," Sidat said.

Nigeria beat Mozambique 3-0 yesterday in their final Group C game. Mozambique got one point from its three group games.

Nooij oversaw Mozambique's first qualification for the event since 1986.

Shame! But why blame the coach? What was he supposed to do, become a magician? I guess he shot himself in the leg by boasting and deriding the Eagles.

Hahahahaa! You really put your foot in your mouth! Your psychological warfare counted for nothing on the field of play. You were touted as a possible replacement for Amodu by some no-brain NFF officials and some fans. That would have been a travesty. Go home and count your loot, and pray that some other desparate African team gives another chance to milk the continent for nothing. When will Africans wake up and believe in their own? Amodu stays.

There are two types of coaches: those who have been fired and those waiting to be fired.

Sorry Nooij, you couldn't have done better.

People have failed to realise that individualy, the super eagles players were superior to the mambas. Maybe you would have done better if you were the coach of any of the top sides in Africa. I wish you well in your future endeavour.

The Mozambique FF are becoming ungrateful to the coach who brought them back to limelight of African nation cup after many years at the dark. Now they are better rated and respected in African Football. He should be allow to build a formidable national team for them, this is a coach who give local players room to fight for place in the team. Imagine team like Tunisia, Nigeria, cameroom now chiver when playing Mozambique. If the coach is sacked,it may take them a decade to qualify for nation cup again

Final!!! wow that was a long shot. The coach has done well for the mambas and he should have been retained. the mozambique FA should look for another reason to dismiss him especially if he is not very affordable
