Parreira unmoved by OJ comments

Posted: 13 January 2010 Time: 17:21

After Mbulelo Mabizela's recent comments about his ability over the defenders who've made recent Bafana Bafana squads, coach Carlos Alberto Parreira gave his view as 'OJ' missed out on selection again today.

“He is free to talk” – that’s Carlos Alberto Parreira’s message to Mbulelo Mabizela, who claims he is better than some of Bafana Bafana’s defenders.

The Bafana Bafana coach was speaking to the media in Sandton, Johannesburg, and when asked by KickOff.com what he thought of Mabizela’s statement, the Brazilian had a word or two for the out-of-favour defender.

The Platinum Stars central defender says he thinks he is better than some defenders that continuously get the nod ahead of him, like Lucas Thwala of Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United’s Bongani Khumalo.

Mabizela was again omitted when the local squad was announced today.

Parreira says despite what Mabizela said, the bottom line is he is the man in charge.

“It is his opinion. It is a democratic country and he is free to talk,” Parreira says. “In the end it is up to us to decide who makes the team. We look at many things, like the behaviour of players and performances,” he adds.

The World Cup-winning coach added that the door is open to every South African player, but of course there is a selection criteria.

“Players must behave good and play good, then we will select them,” he concluded. by Tiyani wa ka Mabasa

Just like I thought.OJ's talent is not in question.

His arrogance coupled with his off the field behaviour has put out of favour with the coach.

The ball is in your feet OJ. You can either go to rehab, claim to have changed, shut up and let your God gifted talent do the talking Or you can drinking like fish, zoll like a Rastaman and hurl uncalled for coments like a loudmouth drunkard.

Jislaaik, letagwa le a be le simolotse. I strongly believe that he has consumed more alcohol than all the named defenders would consume in their lifetime. No wonder Platinum Stars is languishing in the bottom half of the Premiership. He most probably was POEP-DRONK when he made this takunyisa-smeeling comment. He he he he he he he !

To KIckoff:

was the statement said by OJ in written format, or u just asked a question in general for him to answer honestly (thus setting a trap for OJ).

If u ask any player (or any body) now, they will say they are better than the other, its human.

such as:
Kali thinks is the best kickoff blogger
Mzukisi he is a chick magnet
Chiefs is the best team
etc

all the above is debatable....

so, Kickoff, i think u are misleading your readers and the public. u are bringing these parties into despute.

The Doctor.

@Doctor

There is nothing wrong with Mabizela claiming to be the best however if you read the article his mistake was to name those players. Therefor imagine Mabizela called to the National Team and he be asked to marshall the defence consisting of those players, will they take his instructions or if he shout at them will they not take it personally.I am also supporting the technical team for dropping him but I think we still need him after this camp and also after they have explained to him abou the level of professionalism that is expected from him.

My message to OJ. Yes you are the best defender, but I am sure that by now you have learned that being a professional means more than talent. You blew your own chances, I truly believe if you had not, you would be leading the team as captain to the World Cup.The worst part is I suspect that we will be reading misbehaviour stories about you in the near future.

the only few bloggers who one can read your comments while enjoying Tea/koffi this morning yazi. All the other clowns are just commenting babarically! Even R Marawa failed to get OJ to re-instate what is so-called wat he said.

We NEED OJ- whether he is drunkard/alcoholic/womaniser/gay/etc...FACT!

I PAUSE...
