Mambas earn a vital draw

Mozambique and Benin drew 2-2 in their Nations Cup opener on Tuesday.

Both teams started the match with the unpleasant record of having not won any of their previous matches at the African Nations Cup, and the record stood at the final whistle.

Benin opened the scoring through an Razak Omotoyossi penalty, before Dario Khan made it 2-0 with an own-goal. Lobo got one back for the Mambas, before Fumo levelled the score.

Benin started the game on the high and in the 3rd minute striker Pote raced down the left wing and cut into the box, but his shot was blocked by Mozambican defender Kilan for a corner.

In the fifth minute, the Squirrels were again on the loose with Omotoyossi and danger man Ogunbiyi Mouritala exchanging passes well, but Razak’s shot was blocked.

Benin got their opener in the 15th minute when Ogunbinyi beat the keeper but was tripped before shooting. The referee awarded a penalty which Omotoyossi buried. The keeper Rafael was shown a yellow card.

After the goal Mozambique started going forward, but in the 21st minute they were caught on the offensive when Ogubinyi passed to Omotoyossi who turned and aimed, but his shot hit Sessegnon Stephane who was yards away from the goalmouth. Dario miscued his clearance to score an own-goal.

Two minutes later, Benin would have made it three but Ogunbiyi’s shot was blocked. The scoreline roused the Mambas to go forward and in the 28th minute they were lucky when the Benin keeper missed a corner ball, and Lobo headed to an empty net for the Mambas’ opener

In the second half Benin could have extended their lead when Omotoyossi beat the keeper, only for Dario to clear the ball which was heading over the line – somewhat redeeming himself for the earlier own-goal.

The Mozambicans looked more dangerous going forward, and their fighting spirit was rewarded in the 53rd when Benin keeper Djidonou Yoann cleared the ball for a throw-in. It was taken quickly – Dominques picked out Fumo in the penalty area and the midfielder shot into an empty net as the keeper was racing to his area.

The Mambas would have gone ahead in the 70th minute but skipper Tico Tico’s shot missed the net by a whisker.

The Mozambique keeper almost gifted Benin a winner in the 84th minute when he spilled a simple ball by making an awful gymnastic blunder, but Omotoyossi missed the ball after Kapango cleared the danger.

Like i often tell people, that sleep and death are nor the same thing. What we saw yesterday is a reflection of the calibre of the coach that are handling the national teams. It was obvious yesterday that the Egyptian coach is technically sound coach, he is far better than Amodu.
The SE where in control in the first half hour, because the SE players were better than the Egyptian players, but as a coach that knows what to do when things turns against he team, he was able to change the situation of the game.
Amodu is not a coach, i have always stated this, he lacks what it takes to handle a big team like the SE. His patter is outdated, anyone in the coaching line would know there were alot of problem with the pattern he played yesterday. How can he player Uche a natural midfielder in the attack, when u are playing against the defending champion in a competition or was it an experimental match for Amodu? what was he expecting from Ayegbeni, miracle ba? A player that is nolonger useful to Everton is what Amodu is using to spearhead our attack. Amodu is a disappiontment.
As a coach, even a layman will be able to see through with what was wrong with the SE on the pitch yesterday, Amodu was confused, he could not read the tactics of the Egyptian, all he could do was to bring in Kanu for Uche. That was the wrongest substitution i have ever seen in my life. Amodu should go back to coaching school and learn the modern day football tacticts, he is still dueling in the past, he can't even measure up in our local league in Nigeria. Even if the SE goes for in this tournament, that will still not change the situation athand. Nigeria filled with bunch of talented and technically sound coach, they should pick any of them to take us to the World Cup. With what i saw yesterday, Amodu cannot even read a match situation and know where to fortify in his team, he went and bring in Kanu for Uche...LOL...It shows how techically sound he is.

This topic is about Mozambique and Benin but some drug lords here comments bullsh*t about their drug addict team. Nigerian players were so high on drugs so stop annoying us with your silly comments. I overheard drug businessman didn't do well lastnite because of their loss.

Sharpa Egypt sharpaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
