Benin midfielder Muri Ogunbiyi is a major doubt for their opening CAF Africa Cup of Nations Group C clash today against Mozambique’s Mambas after he suffered a thigh strain in training.

The Nigerian-born midfielder - who plays for French side Guingamp - limped out of training yesterday at the Ombaka Stadium in Benguela after about 20 minutes and had to be attended to by team medical staff, who bandaged an ice pack around his right thigh.

Meanwhile, Mozambique, cut short their training on Monday night in Benguela after a power surge at the new Ombaka Stadium.

The team were on the pitch for a few minutes when the power supply at the Ombaka Stadium was interrupted.

The team waited for power to be restored and after about 20 minutes they retired to their hotel a few kilometres outside Benguela.

Both Benin and Mozambique are bidding to record their first ever victory in their Afcon history today.

Its good to see unwanted Nigerian players making it in another country. The likes of Rasiak Omotoyoussi.
