I wanna know the basis with which the players use in selecting their jersey numbers.. Cos i know some players might be interested in a particular shirt number.eg obasi and nsofor may have interest for 7, odiah and nwaneri may hav similar interest for 5.. I hope this number selection doesnt cause a prob.. I know dt shirt number doesnt count bt this is a major tournament.

The Togo national football team have pulled out of the African Cup of Nations (ACN) in Angola and decided to fly home, according to RMC radio.

On Friday the Togolese team bus was attacked by rebels as it entered the Angolan province of Cabinda, resulting in the death of the driver, and injuries to two players and two team officials.

While the Confederation of African Football (CAF) have declared that the ACN will not be cancelled, Togo's part in the tournament now appears to have come to an end as the team have arrived at an airport in order to return to Lome, the Togolese capital.

DON: 2010-01-09 16:22

This is indeed a bad news to Africa continent, The Europeans has been looking for an avenue to stop Africa from this our ACN tournament and now they have evidence to hold on to. Even Redknapp that has no single player in the whole teams calling African Nations Cup this thing.
Hear him: Redknapp said: "It's frightening. I agree it's worth considering calling the whole thing off. We can't just sit around and wait for the next shooting.

African players are going have problems on the next tournament because of this ugly incident. I supported Togo for the withdrawing. CAF should step up with more security for the rest of the teams especially those around the area to avoid another shooting.

@Y..I..N..K..A - What has Ghana got to do with an attack carried out by Angolan rebels?

Ike_Wa_Poo!!!: 2010-01-09 17:00

My condolences to the families of de deceased & the Togolese Nation 4 Losing both de Driver & a Player.

This is bad 4 Africa. This will definately have a negative impact on the World Cup. CAF should have called off de tournament. De bosses are full of **** and are Heartless. I feel 4 de players dat witnessed dis incident as it unfolded.

Thambeli
First of all, naija is the #1 nation with the most blacks in the world, which means all its development and successes(including having the #1 stock in 2007 in the world, and now among the countries to watch for in the coming years, the #2 biggest movie industry in the world, right afer USA, #1 music industry in Africa) are due to their black populace.I have proof:

"If you're bullish about Brazil, Russia, India, and China, then don't forget there is an entire second tier of less-appreciated-but-giant economic growth stories -- the MAVINS, according to a report form Business Insider January 6.

The MAVINS is an acronym that refers to the six developing economies of Mexico, Australia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Nigeria, and south Africa.

They are uniquely positioned to feed and benefit from global economic growth via their relative commodity advantages, yet at the same time, they have massive domestic market expansion opportunities due to a surplus of under-utilized land or people, said the report.

With the right policies, these nations are likely to blow away expectations over time and become leading powers in their regions. The MAVINS combined economies could easily equal 60 percent of today's America by 2020, over 200 percent of today's America by 2050, and then keep growing robustly thereafter"
Article by people's daily online.

South Africa on the other hand is a country with history of hatred(apartheid, which has not dissappeared), hatred within themselves and hatred of others, I have proof:

"Prior to 1994 immigrants from elsewhere in Africa faced discrimination and even violence in South Africa, though much of that risk stemmed from the institutionalised racism of the time rather than xenophobia. Post 1994 and democratisation, and contrary to expectations, the incidence of xenophobia increased. Between 2000 and March 2008 at least 67 people died in what was identified as xenophobic attacks.

In May 2008 a series of riots left 62 people dead; although 21 of those killed were South African citizens the attacks were apparently motivated by xenophobia."

So I understand you Thambeli, your anger and hatred is homegrown.
