While the clubs in the Absa Premiership enjoy a break until February, the National First Division Inland and Coastal Streams will kick off the last leg of their Leagues this weekend.
There are only six games remaining for each team in both streams. African Warriors lead the Inland Stream while Nathi Lions sit at the top of the Coastal Stream.
Neither side has a firm lead, and according to a report on the PSL website, with promotion to the Premiership the main prize, the contest is expected to heat up considerably.
Lions have 27 points and are closely followed by second-placed Vasco Da Gama and third-placed Bay United who have 25 points each.
Carara Kicks and Thanda Royal Zulu are eight points behind Lions and have a slim chance of battling for first place.
Meanwhile, FC Cape Town, Ikapa Sporting and Hanover Park, all from the Western Cape, are fighting to escape relegation.
They have 17, 16 and 14 points respectively and a drop to the lower league should inspire these teams to perform heartily.
Warriors lead at the top of the Inland Stream is four points. They have 30 points and in second place Black Leopards have 26.
Dynamos are third with 22 and Witbank Spurs fourth with 21 ponts.
Batau FC are 10 points behind Warriors and would have to rely on the top four to drop points continuously for them to move up the table.
United FC has 19 points and University of Pretoria 18. Winners Park seem set for relegation as they have only 11 points from their 15 matches.
On Saturday Warriors take on Witbank Spurs at the Charles Mopeli Stadium. Dynamos welcome Batau to the Nkowa-Nkowa Stadium and Winners Park face United FC at the University of Limpopo Stadium.
In Cape Town at the Ikamva grounds, Ikapa Sporting host Nathi Lions. In PE Bay United welcome Vasco Da Gama to the Westbourne Oval.
On Sunday Hanover Park face Carara Kicks at the Blue Downs Stadium and in Durban Thanda Royal Zulu face FC Cape Town.
