It’s all systems go for the official opening of Durban’s new Moses Mabhida Stadium when AmaZulu host Maritburg United on Sunday.
“It’s it going to be one of the most thrilling game in the PSL this season and we have a strong security force in place to ensure that it remains and incident free event,” Usuthu PRO Philani Mabaso tells KickOff.com.
Mabaso says entertainment activities are lined up for the occasion but warned fans that there would be security both on and off the stadium.
“There will be 500 security personnel, more than 450 Saps members and an additional 100 Metro police. Fans without tickets should not come near the stadium as the match is already sold out and only fans with tickets will be allowed in.”
Mabaso announced that apart from Myron Shongwe, the Usuthu camp was carrying no injuries ahead of the match.
“We have no suspensions and only one injury, Shongwe. The players are all geared up and excited at the prospect of being part of this historic event. Another important thing for us is to get the three points on offer.”
Usuthu midfielder Ntokozo Sikhakhane shares Mabaso’s sentiments about ensuring they collect all three points against Maritzburg.
“We haven’t beaten them since they were promoted to the PSL and we want to change that on Sunday,” says Sikhakhane, who is making a return to AmaZulu after missing the past two games due to suspension.
Sikhakhane picked up a red card in Usuthu’s League game against SuperSport United at Loftus Stadium few weeks ago.
