VV – Bartman keeps his place

Kaizer Chiefs coach Vladimir Vermezovic is not buying into the idea of throwing Itumeleng Khune straight back between the posts to replace Arthur Bartman, though he declares that the Bafana Bafana keeper remains the number one at the club.

Khune’s return from injury after three months out has been brewing up an intense debate about whether he should be handed back his place between the posts.

However, Bartman has performed beyond expectations; so much so that there isn’t a performance related reason as yet why he should be demoted to the bench.

“We have five goalkeepers at Kaizer Chiefs, but only one keeper can play at a time,” says the Serbian.

“Khune has just come back from injury and sat on the bench for the first time in our last match. But he is still our number one ... there is absolutely no doubt about that. However, we need to be careful with how we get him back to playing again.

We shouldn’t rush Khune at all because not only do we need him, but Bafana also need him,” says Vermezovic, pointing out that Bartman will remain between the posts for Wednesday night’s encounter against SuperSport.

“Arthur is in good form at the moment and there is absolutely no need to change that. He will most definitely be between the posts against SuperSport.”

The 37 year-old keeper has built up his confidence in a superb way, keeping four clean-sheets in the last five games.

True that...Khune must fight for his position back. That aint his father's club. He will have to prove that he is still the number 1. Like Teko at Pirates. I would like him to fight back for his position. He was on form. So when he is on form he is number 1.

Gatyeni: 2009-11-25 10:36

Preventing SS from scoring will be though, thus Khune would have been presented with a best opportunity to prove is worth. OR maybe the coach is scarred that KC will concede more than 3 goals to Itu's disadvantage if was on goal?

Jacob/Styles: 2009-11-25 10:51

Throw that Khune in VV and lets see whether he will stop the rain of goals to be conceded by KC tonight. I can assure you guys SSU will be chiefs irrespective of who is between the posts. I hope the referee for the day will not only rely on the assistants to allow legitimate goals.

SIBUSISO: 2009-11-25 10:53

The chiefs coach is indeed a genius and a humble gentleman. He knows what to say and how to protect his players

THATS WHY I LOVE CHIEFS COS THERE IS ALWAYS THE BEST THAT COME OUT OF THIS TEAM

No man....chiefs will beat the hell out of SSP. Chiefs are on the verge to take the league (which they will do) and that road to glory started when we beat santos and today will be just a continuation of that

Mr Que: 2009-11-25 10:57

Khune is off-form. Bartman is doing very well, why put him on the bench? he sweat for this team since the begining of the season while Khune was in the healing process. Why fix it when it's not broken? Keep Bartman on the field. There is no need to replce him.

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2009-11-25 11:16

Bartman deserve better.

Les: 2009-11-25 11:17

Go and flash yourself in the biggest loo guys.

Chiefs is winning tonight!

Siyaz: 2009-11-25 11:19

I understand what you are doing and I support you. Khune is a national asset but to allow him straight to the starting 11 at the expense of harmony in the team would come to haunt you. Khune is undoubtedly the best keeper in Mzansi and his time will come, both at Chiefs and Bafana.

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2009-11-25 11:26

I like VV, He knows and understand soccer very well. He dont have to Change his starting line up, because of favourism. Bartman is on form, i dont see a point why he must be replace.

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2009-11-25 11:35

An off-form Khune must seat on the Bench, while an on- form Bartman is playing. an off-form Teko Modise must seat on the bench, while an On-form Phenyo Mongala is playing. hehe!!! i like it.

SIBUSISO: 2009-11-25 11:37

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2009-11-25 11:12

I did not say Brtman must be replaced now but the fact is Khune as the coach said is our No.1 keeper, thats why I said he will be back either soon or later but he will be back.

For you to say Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2009-11-25 10:54 [ Report ]

Khune msut not come back. He is off form.

I dont understand stand why you say that cos he has not played yet after the injury for you to come out and say he is out of form

GET MY POINT?????

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2009-11-25 11:40

SIBUSISO: 2009-11-25 11:37

It is obvious, a player cannot be on-form, while he is from Injury. We can assume that he is off-form, coz he was not playing. Bartman is doing well only injuries can put him on the bench.

j747: 2009-11-25 11:58

Paul: 2009-11-25 12:48

Well done Coach!

A player must be judged based on their performance not name...i would like to see Khune back into poles but lets face it! why want to fix what is not broken, Bartman is doing exceptionally well for Chiefs, and honestly i am impressed.

I was one of the people who was sceptical when Bobby brought him to Chiefs, and honestly that was a best catch!

Well done Bartman, please deny Supersport goals tonight.
