Ghana Football Association president Kwesi Nyantekyie is confident Ghana will emerge unscathed from what he calls the group of death at the 2010 Nations Cup in Angola.
The Black Stars were drawn with West African neighbours Ivory Coast, Togo and Burkina Faso and will kickoff their campaign against Togo.
Nyantekyie, in Luanda to witness the draw said Ghana had been the toughest group. "Ivory Coast and Ghana are two of the best teams in Africa."
"The group is interesting because Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso and Togo are all our neighbours.
"Togo has Adebayor, one of the best players in the world, and Burkina Faso's Moumouni Dagano is the top scorer of the World Cup qualifying campaign," he said.
Ghana will head off to camping in Nelspruit, South Africa in December and Nyantekyie is confident they will head to Angola well equipped to win their first African title since 1982.
But Nyantekyie knows the Stars will have their work cut out against their neighbours especially the Ivory Coast.
“Together with them we are two of the best teams on the continent with some of the finest players playing top flight football in Europe.”
Nyantekyie also claims the winner of the Nations Cup will emerge from Ghana’s group. “We will see the best football in this group and I think the winner will come from this group.”
The Ivory Coast-Ghana game will be one of the most eagerly awaited ties of the Nations Cup with Nigeria coach Shuaibu Amodu saying “it will be a cracker indeed.”
