Plaatjies set to leave Downs

Plaatjies set to leave Downs

Posted: 18 November 2009 Time: 1:43 pm

Namibian defender Sydney Plaatjies is set to leave Mamelodi Sundowns after failing to play a match so far this season.

The 27-year-old has been frustrated in his efforts to impress new coach Hristo Stoitchkov, and is currently not training with the first team, spending his time alone in the gym.

He spent the second half of last season on loan at Moroka Swallows and now it seems he will be off again – albeit this time on a permanent contract.

“I’ve had a few offers for Sydney – two from Belgium and Turkey, and also two from PSL clubs,” says Colin April, Plaatjies business manager. “I have referred all interest to Sundowns and now we wait on their response.

“He is clearly not in the coach’s plans and is ready to move on. He still has two years remaining on his contract, but we are confident the club is willing to let him go.”

Plaatjies has made only four starts for Sundowns since joining from Jomo Cosmos two years ago.

He must take Robyn Johannes with him.I still cannot understand what was Ted and Trott thinking when they signed this boy. He is not Sundowns material at all.

Downs must release Shakes ,Phala,Platjies,Mmotong,Mayinga,Ncaca,Baloyi outright and then loan Johannes and Twala to other teams.
I think they should buy Fernandez and a left sided player during the open window.

Let's face it, South Africa is a great country but no man is an island and South Africans should stop looking down on other people. A single Nigerian aired his 'opinion' on the vuvuzela issue and most South Africans here began to rain abuses on Nigerians. Were we supposed to keep quiet while we were insulted? The answer is an overwhelming NO! We stand to gain nothing by bickering. We should learn to discuss football issues and interact with one another promoting mutual respect and love. As much as there are hundreds of thousands of Nigerians here, we do not take anyone's job, nor do we take people's houses. We don't even pretend to be South Africans. We are here in search of the proverbial greener pasture and it's not necessarily greener on the other side of the fence. We make plans to better our lot. Let's stop hating and fighting and move forward.

LONG LIVE THE REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA
LONG LIVE THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA

He should just go back home and play for OSHAKATI CITY. That's how "good" he is anyway...
