Nathan Paulse will make a return to South Africa in the coming weeks. A PSL move is an option, but he would like to stay in Europe.
Paulse’s Swedish team, Hammarby, have been relegated and unconfirmed reports are that the tall striker could move to another top-flight Swedish club while Portugal and Belgium are also options.
“It’s important for me to keep progressing so we’re looking at options here in Europe. I need to play top flight so I must move from Hammarby,” Paulse says.
Paulse has a contract for two more years with Hammarby, but his agent, Mickey Paiva of Prosport International, believes a transfer will happen.
“Nathan’s done very well if you consider Hammarby went through about three coaches in one season,” Paiva says.
“He’s also been played at number 9, 10 and even at 6. Yet all the time Nathan’s given a great account of himself. He’s well liked over there and settled in with his family and adapted very quickly.”
Paiva says a move back to the PSL could happen, but opportunities to grow in Europe is first option now. Paulse also doesn’t rule out a return home, but makes it clear he wants to give it another crack.
“I can’t say that I won’t come home, but I must look ay the options over here first,” he says.
“I hoped for more game time. I started well, but then I’d be used in the big games like the derby, but then get dropped for the smaller games. It didn’t make sense.”
In 2009 Paulse started 11 matches for Hammarby. He came on as a substitute 10 times and scored once.
