Heartland FC depart Friday

Posted: 2009-11-05 14:16

Officials of Heartland FC of Owerri disclosed on Thursday that the team’s contingent to Saturday’s CAF Champions League final match against TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo will leave on Friday aboard a chartered aircraft from the Port Harcourt International Airport.

The Nigerian flag–bearers won the first leg 2-1 in Owerri on Sunday and countenance a huge battle on their hands against a side that parades the bulk of the DR Congo home–based squad that won the inaugural African Nations Championship in Ivory Coast earlier this year.

“We are going by chartered flight because it would be much better for us. If we have to go by regular flight, we would have to first fly to another country, Ethiopia or Kenya or some other place, before connecting Lubumbashi. And it would not be good for us,” said the official.

Enyimba FC of Aba is the only Nigerian Club to have won the most prestigious Club marble on the continent, when she did a double in 2003 and 2004.

Enugu Rangers, Shooting Stars of Ibadan and Iwuanyanwu Nationale FC of Owerri (fore–runner of Heartland FC) are the only other Nigerian Clubs to have played in the Final of the biggest club championship on the continent.

In 1988, Iwuanyanwu Nationale defeated Setif of Algeria 1-0 in Ibadan only to lose 4-0 in Algiers.

The Nigeria Football Federation has written to the Nigeria Embassy in DR Congo to make arrangement for special protection for the Heartland FC contingent and also mobilize Nigerians within and around Lubumbashi to support Heartland at the Stade de La Kenya on Saturday.

NFF President Sani Lulu Abdullahi, 1st Vice President Amanze Uchegbulam and General Secretary Bolaji Ojo-Oba, who cheered on Heartland FC in the first leg in Owerri, will also be in Lubumbashi.

Billion my good friend, i no know say u dey read Bible, God bless you and u will prosper, forget all these Forumites who de believe outcome before prediction, the Bible says when u work u get result not when u sidon wait for miracle to fall from heaven, this is not the time of the Isrealites when God throws manner from heaven, forget about these money worshipers, Everybody in Nigeria claims God called him, this is what happened for many years in Medieval Europe, its money calling our so called pastors and not God, while other societies are celebrating thier scientits and discoveries we are celebrating a bunch of criminals who have nothing to offer than empty promises, name them.., Chris Okotie, Chris Oyakhilome, Ebenezer Obey, Ajiboye, Uma Ukpai and worst T B Joshua to mention but few, every sane person knows its easier to make it as a pastor than a musician, No amount of miracle will help any Team unless u play well, the last Miracle was when the last Apostle died, any miracle these days are fake and if any is true is Satan who want to make himself an Angel of light, let T B Joshua predict the outcome of SE match against Kenya now before they leave for kenya, we say we are exposed yet we fall Mugu to these so called miracle makers who are out to enrich their pockets, Thank u Billion, the Truth shall set us free. It will be nice if Heartland can double their effort, that's the only way they can overcome, they should emulate Enyimba of Aba who after winning it for the first time still went to Tunisia to win it back to back, it's not going to be an easy task, they should make enquiries of former Enymba coach and players and ask them what made them thick to prevail, but i think determination will see them through, they should view the result in Owerri as draw and attack for the 90 minutes duration of the match in the second leg, i lived at Aba for many years and was on hand to watch Enyimba matches but i hail from Owerri and will be proud to see my home state win it for the first time, no miracles except determination and tactical discipline, if they attack like wounded lions they will Conquer, i can see the cup in Ohakim's office in few days to come. HARRISON << good contribution, you are the forumite of the month. please my dear fellow forumites lets start thinking like SIR HARRISON, lets stop following those criminals calling themselfs pastors, lets think more about science and technology.

Heartland, please ensure you score first as this will put TP under immense pressure. Will John Owoeri be available for the match or is he still serving CAF suspension? NTA or AIT should show us this match as this is a cup final involving a Nigerian team on national assignment: at least, tomorrow is rest day for all U-17 W/C games in Nigeria. It will be total disservice to Nigerians if none of our local stations do not beam the Heartland match live to Nigerians. Best of luck to the Naze Millionaires as all of us are waiting to drink from the cup.
