NFF non-committal over law suit

NFF non-committal over law suit

Posted: 2009-11-04 18:19

The Nigeria Football Federation are non-committal about whether or not they will encourage or support Under-17 captain Fortune Chukwudi to challenge in a court of law, claims by Adokiye Amiesimaka that he is ineligible for the Under-17 tournament.

Barrister Musa Amadu, the NFF's Acting General Secretary, told KickOffNigeria.com that it was up to Chukwudi to decide whether or not to pursue the matter.

"It is the player's prerogative whether or not he wants to take legal action," Amadu said. "It is not for the Federation to do."

But when asked if the NFF would encourage the player to go down that route, Amadu obfuscated.

"Well, that would depend on if he wants us to. In that case, he would have to write to us, and that would be through his solicitors and we will look into it."

Various sources in Port Harcourt have confirmed that Chukwudi did indeed, play for the Sharks feeder team in the period mentioned by Amiesimaka.

wow ,dunno why this heck is been blown out of proportion,
chukudi, any of those nff clowns advicing you to take up this case to court is doing more HARM than GOOD to your career.
i'd advice you to get over it and concentrate on your career,.

Anthony: 2009-11-04 19:25

Chukwudi should head for the courts if he is so confident!Lets, for once in this nation, get into the habit of setting unprecedented precedence in matters like this.

What the heck is wrong with Nigerians?
we Complain If we don't qualify.
We complain when we are loosing.
We complain when we are winning.
When will we stop complaining?
Must we wash our dirty pants in public?
Na only Nigeria carry over-aged player?
He was tested and certified by FIFA what else is the matter?
Is Amiesimaka well atall?
Why didn't he speak out before the tournament?
Why didn't he speak when the Eaglets had a bumpy ride with Germany?
Why is he speaking out now that we are winning?
Is he praying for them to loose?
Kai!!!!!!!!!!!
With this attitude, We will get to no where in soccer!

The likes of Adokiye Amasiemeka should is part of the problem faces youth developement in nigeria. He should tell nigerians how many talents he has discovered, moulded and who has successfully graduated to the super eagles.the likes of him are only interested in exploiting the many talents littering the nooks and cranny of nigeria streets,Fifa age group football is all about introducing hidden talents and giving them the chance to make a mark in international scene but unfortunately people like Amasiemeka will only exploit and sell to dubious foreign scouts where these boys will end up wasting their talents in some obscure corner of the world like macedonia, malta. He should bury his face in the swampy gutters of port harcourt cos he has done much harm to careers of promising young boys in the niger delta.

Billion: 2009-11-04 20:06

Dis issue is being blown out of proportion by 'soft sale' journalists. Rather than support or give us current happenings in d GE & SE teams, they just want 2 make mince meat of dis young 'boy'.

ajibola: 2009-11-04 20:08

If truly various sources in portharcourt confirmed the story that he played for sharks at that time, then the MRI TEST CONDUCTED ON THE PLAYERS MIGHT NOW BE CALLED INTO QUESTIONING CUZ DEFINATELY THIS GUY WILL BE OVER AGED WE ALL KNOW WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE TO PLAY FOR A LOCAL CLUB IN NAIJA IF HE INTENDS TO GO TO THE COURT HE'S GONNA DAMAGE HIS CAREER CUZ FOWL YANSH GO OPEN OOOO.BUT IN THE MEANTIME THEY SHOULD FORGET THESE STORIES AND LET THEM CONCENTRATE ON THE TOURNAMENT CUZ I KNW THIS ISSUE MIGHT AFFECT THIS PLAYER PHSYCOLOGICALLY.

oge: 2009-11-04 20:18

As an ex Green Eagles player, solicitor and football manager, cld somebody pls ask him what became of most of the boys under his management, how many are playing consistently in the nigerian league, how many has he introduced to bigger european clubs, how many of those are currently playing for the national team.If his claims are true, which means that most of the 17 or 18 yr olds who played for him as far back as 2003,wld have been 23 by now and which means they shld have been ripe and ready for super eagles.how many of those has he developed.Anybody who passes mri test is still relatively very young,at least their bones epiphyses hasnt closed, those still have a long way to go in terms of physical developement. This self righteous man Adokiye has done more harm than than the whole bunch of moronic NFF.He shld leave the boys alone to develope their talents.I wonder why this boy Chukwudi left his academy.

When will we stop disgracing ourselves in Nigeria? When will we see eachother as one and a unit of the entity called Nigeria? When will we join hands together to put Nigeria in a positive way to the entire world? I don't think some people want to see the country progress.

If i may ask, is this the first time we are noticing that it is almost a culture for Nigerians to present themselves younger than their real age? If i may be honest with you guys, almost all the players in Africa and other developing countries, be it those who play age-group football or those who play for the senior national teams does age-declaration. By declaring a younger age, most African players are able to get good contracts and they are accepted because Europeans think that they are young and very talented. But if they present their actual ages, they will NEVER be considered.

Adokie has a hidden agenda. It may be jealousy, hatred or revenge, whatever name he calls it, he is a disgrace to Nigeria. Will Adokie tell the whole Nigeria that this is the first time this is happening? Or does he want to show how religious or honest he is? Whatever he calls it, he is wrong and he is a disgrace to Nigeria. Are we saying Mikel, Kanu, Okocha, Ayegbeni, etc are using their true ages? This is world football and not secondary school football. Even in secondary football there are lots of mercenaries. So, what is new that Adokie is just expressing?

Most times, the problems are caused by people of Adokie's status. They are the ones telling younger players to reduce their ages in order to get a good contract with clubs, why is he disgracing himself? If we should provide details, I have some young players who different coaches and administrators, of Adokie's status, were informed to get a passport showing a younger age.

However said, this guy passed MRI test, so what? He should have looked for someone that either failed MRI test or did not take it. The whole country should turn against him. Even Mr President may not be using his real age, who knows and who cares?

mecury: 2009-11-04 21:16

MR ADOKIYE,DO U WANT TO MANAGE CHUKWUDI HE REFUSE?DO YOU WANT TO TRY YOU JOB WITH THE NFF? ARE YOU NOT ASHAME OF YOURSELF,PLEASE RESPECT URSELF,SO THAT YOU WILL RESPECTED TOO,IF YOU NEED ANY THING FROM THE NFF YOU SHOULD KNOW HOW TO ASK FOR IT NOT THIS WAY.

Chukwudi litigating against Adokiye?

I laugh in parables.

TAWFEEQ: 2009-11-04 21:40

Ameisimaka should not have made that kindly of derogatory claim on this young chap in public. I am sure that our dear motherland is not the only country that is guilty of manipulating ages at under 16 level. Several national teams in this tournament and the past have cheated too. I think Ameisimaka should just keep his mouth shut rather than trying to wake a sleeping dog. My sincere advice to Chukwudi is to neglect and overlook the utterance of this foolish so-called educated illiterate Ameisimaka. Good luck young chap, good luck the Golden Eaglet!!!

OUSCA 2007: 2009-11-04 22:53

NIGERIA should play a POISONOUS game...not play as if they have any leverage against the young hakkas, NIGERIA should play a very powerful midfield game with astute defending, and then hit the NEW Zealanders on quick breaks / counter attacks... 9JA should not be in a haste to score, take the chances when they come though.....

long : 2009-11-04 23:51

adokie has actually stirred the hornets nest, and the reactions are quite

understandable. firstly ill like to say that the MRI test in itself is not fool

proof, that is, the results are not 100% reliable, and so it possible that Chukwudi

passed it, but might actually be overage, but again, that has become fifas

barometer to ascertain age cheats. back to adokie, he has received so much flacks,

one of which is that he really has no concrete evidence to prove that our captain

is overage other than the age chukwudi supposedly tendered while he played in the

sharks feeder team, an argument i really at this point do not want to dwell on.

what interests me really is what some have described as his unpatriotic utterances,

they believe that he has betrayed his country by ''washing our dirty linen in

public'' meaning that he should not have brought this up while we have foreigners

in our midst. this brings up a pertinent issue, who exactly is a patriot, or better

still, does patriotism translate to encouraging a bad deed or helping to cover a lie

because we have foreigners in our midst?. how can this be so in moral and

scientific terms? the world is a global village, stories about age cheats in Nigeria

by our local media here can be read online anywhere in the world and it has hugged

the headlines long before the u-17 world cup, so every journalist or public

commentator who has written or spoken about it must be unpatriotic! HOGWASH! our

image has been battered and sniffed at so much by the international community and

we think that the best way to redeem it is by protecting bad practices? why

disparage adokie and label him as unpatriotic when he is only trying to right a

wrong? our image can only be truly redeemed when w stop calling a spade a hoe or a

rake a cutlass, STAND UP ALL TRUE PATRIOTS!!!!

Udeme: 2009-11-05 00:30

@Manebay, I support you 100%. But you did not ask one question. Would Amiesimaka do this to his son? I don't think so. Every country in this tournament has over-age players. Earlier in this forum, I posted that Victor Manon (No. 10 for Mexico) is an over-age player. Nobody including Amiesimaka responded but we have the gods to accuse our Fortune Chukwudi even when he was cleared by the MRI test. Victor Manon has been playing for a top mexican club for quite sometime. He even played for the club at the FIFA World Club competition in 2008 against clubs such as Man. Utd. Now he claims to be U-17. Also, I would like us to take a close look at the Swiss and Columbian teams. It is obvious that those guys are above 17. Pleeeeaaaaasse, this is not our problem, it is FIFA's problem. FIFA should find an accurate way of determining the age of each player. We should leave our U-17 players alone.

Segun: 2009-11-05 00:42

That Nigeria is not the same force she used to be in soccer is true but that does not warrant the insult from the Kenya Federation. The score line predicted was actually the same they suffered against Kuwait in a friendly match yesterday. Kenya was mauled 5-0 by Kuwait. Our players can only save us the mess in which we find ourselves now.

Cletus: 2009-11-05 01:03

@Jeff,Uzochi and the rest, thanks for your kind words. As a 21 year old and a soccer player who like to start from the bench, i try to read and study the game before i go in.but it's been a while since i touch the round leather due to work, school and no soccer loving americans in my area.
If the nff insist that Fortune takes the case to court, i believe that would be the start of his downfall.Fortune should learn from Martins, when he was accussed of his age,he kept quite and walk away and that was maturity. It is not every word that one hears that he must follow.Weather he is 17 or not, i do not know, only God knows and Fortune himself knows, thus let God be the jurge not we humans. or who appointed us as jurge over these people? There is a saying that says,"if a mad man speaks and you answer that means you yourself are mad".the point? if fortune was accussed of being a cheat,he should have ignore it and behave maturely.please fellow forumite, let us not chase after the wind or follow a dog footstep in the river, because we would be lost, but rather let us get back on tract and "set our priority straight" and hope for the best. have a nice day y'all.

Again the case of casting the first stone without looking in the mirror. Some forumite here are criticizng this lad, following and supporting Adokiye's allegations. For the record, Adokiye himself has his own issues. Is he the biological father of this boy? I remember vividly when someone on this forum claimed to know stanley okoro, and the same person went on to state that stanley okoro is actually close to 27. Billion and a host of others supported the guy and asked for NFF to explain the situation. The same accuser, right on this forum, apologized to stanley okoro, claiming he had erred in his judgement. Again, let those casting the first stone look in the mirror. Adokiye is not the biological father of Chukwudi. And for those who are learned, they know Chukwudi in his response to the allegation, never mentioned Adokiye's name. Let's leave sleeping dogs alone.

Niceguy: 2009-11-05 03:00

Lets assume Chukwudi is over age is he the first or only Nigerian player with over age? Is Nigeria the only country with over age? Can anybody mention a country that does not do age cheat? Can anybody convince me that this enemy progress called Adokiye Amiesimaka witch is a saint he abides law and never cheat in any way before? Why must adokiye witch be distracting our captain at this point of time? Because he was waiting for their failure and surprisingly they top their group and he got disappointed and started chasing shadow. This will bring his down fall and God will punish him for his evil plan against this young guy.

Yeah adokie is talking about this guy because he knew the guy, so don't blame adokie, he is simply saying the truth.. and we all knew this adokie is saying the truth, If what he say will make fifa ban us from u-17 it will be very good, so we can start using young boys that can really last longer, this chukwudi is 25/26 and he can be more better player in next 5 years with this world cup experience, in 5 years time he will be 31, so no gain, give the oppotunity to player that is 19 or 20 in the next 5 years, he will still be much younger and have greater future ahead..

@Oscar my man,I don laugh tire.My man don vexxxxxx.
Honestly,I am ashamed with our reactions to everything in naija.Thank you @menabay for postings.
If it were Segun Odegbami who had complained,I`d not be this extremely annoyed. What has Adokiye done to help reduce this age cheat issue?.In as much as we are not trying to support age-cheat but in all sincerity the annoyance of almost everybody is borne out of the timing of Adokiye`s vituperations.Good observation at the wrong time...!
I have been to KOG many times but never read anything of this nature.
Argetina has about 4 players in River Plate & Boca Juniors playing first team football.Age-cheat in football is not peculiar to Africa teams alone.
Washing our dirty linens in the public will never bring us anything but shame all the time.If any of our Ghanian brothers read all this and start making fun of us,u na go begin vex anyhow.Ghana just won U-20 WC and no qualms but celebrations galore all the way.!!!
Nigerians,wake up!

Dear forumites, please let us stop making a mckery of our nation and ourselves. Let us say the truth for once. This website is viewed all over the world and we are only supporting the notion that Nigerians are chronic cheats and fraudsters. This is why our citizens abroad are harrased everywhere even in African countries.

@jp world, than you for being honest. The reactions to this scandal in this forum is appaling and this just shows the level of maturity of the people who comment here. If you go to sahareporters.com you will see different reactions. On sunday, you will all go to church and go to mosque on Friday, yet you can not stand for the truth. If I may ask, what have we benefited from the last one we won in Korea?

IF Fortune Chukwudi IS WITHIN THE AGE BRACKET HE SHOULD GO TO COURT WITH ALL CONCRITE EVIDENCE SO THAT NIGERIANS CAN FOR ONCE HAVE MOUTH TO DEFEND THIS AGE CHEATING SUCCES WE HAVE BEEN LABELED WITH... OTHERWISE HE SHOULD PLS LET THE SLEEPING DOG LIE SO THAT HIS CLAIMS WILL NOT LEAD US TO ANOTHER MESS. BUT COME TO THINK OF IT THE GERMAN & ARGENTINA UNDER-17 PLAYERS ARE ALREADY PLAYING FOR TOP TEAMS IN THEIR TOP LEAGUES... ARE THEY STILL UNDER-17 ??? FOR THE FIRST TIME MOST OF OUR PLAYERS CAME FROM VARIOUS SOCCER ACADEMIES PERHAPS THAT IS WHY THEY PLAY AS A UNIT... I GO WITH THEM BECAUSE THEY SEEM TO BE MUCH YOUNGER ( APPART FROM S***LEY O*O*O)

Austin: 2009-11-05 11:38

Only the truth will set us free - free from the quagmire that we have dug ourselves into by cutting corners. Every aspect of our national life reflects this prediliction for celebrating and encouraging dishonesty. Cheating at exams at all levels, cheating at elections, jumpinig queues, internet fraud, kidnapping, oil bunkering, fleecing banks of depositors funds ... have all become the blight of this once great nation. By our unfortunately warped values, we celebrate thieves and cheats when they shamelessly flaunt the leprous proceeds of their escapes in our faces. Nigeria has become a huge joke in global circles. Yet we do not want to take the right steps to cure ourselves of our potentialy terminal ailment. The only thing that will set us free is the TRUTH. Let us look ourselves in the mirror of truth and make ammends. Why do we crucify Adokiye? Because he held up the mirror to our face? Because he pointed us in the right direction - of towing the path of honor? We should rather celebrate him.

And Chukwudi should be ashamed of himself! I DARE HIM to take Adokiye to court. I DOUBLE DARE HIM!

Austin: 2009-11-05 11:49

Two years ago, AKWA UTD scored an amazing 13 goals in their last match against their brothers, Calabar Rovers and nothing happened. Last season it was the turn of Zamfara UTD to cheat their way into the Premier League. A celebrated coach publicly accused the the NFF/NFL of cheating in league fixtures and officiating. christian Chukwu made similar references. They were all vilified. But the same thing will still continue. As long as we keep condoning evil we will never make the kind of progress that we have the potential to.

oscar : 2009-11-05 12:21

@ Kent, not everything that glitters is gold. I did not coin "until proven guilty", the world that we lived in produced such a phrase. Have u not seen where a lawyer defends an obviously guilty person? For God sake, go back and watch the current bunch of U17 paraded by other countries: Colombia, Gambia, B/faso, Argentina, Germany, Brazil, USA, Italy, etc. Who invented MRI? I am sure not Nigerians. If the yardstick used is the MRI test and someone passed such a world acclaimed test, then he is not guilty in the eyes of the law.

Go back and check on the Ghanians that won U20 and tell me they are all under 20 years.

Adokie is a lawyer, even if someone is guilty of a crime, you do not make such baseless comment the way he did. I won't be surprised if someone attacks him, because he is trying to disgrace the entire nation.

@ Kent, if you played football as a young guy in Nigeria, you will know that most Nigerian players use football age and not real age. It is a culture in Nigeria. Since the standard was MRI test, the guy passed it and he is "in the eyes of the world" U17.

val: 2009-11-05 12:36

First, its shame that we are hosting a FIFA world football tournament and all KO can retain in its headlines is about Chukwudi and we seem satisfied discussing it.
Why so much fuss about a wolf when wolves abound everywhere, that even the accused and accusers are all wolves too.
Agreed that Chukwudi is over aged, should this be the right time to bring up a controversy about it? from Adokie, to Chukwudi, to NFF, to FIFA, to NRI test and even to us forumite, what about before or after the tournament??
Not even today march is been discussed???
Our country is in shambles today because we have always chosen to grope in the dark.

nnamdichukwu: 2009-11-05 12:43

who is this guy Adokiye Amiesimaka ?is he a nigerian? which tribe? or do he wants to use this oppurtunity to be recognised ? sorry you failed this time, a fool you are,is only nigeria that has over age player in their team.mind your business and face your wife.

val: 2009-11-05 13:08

......and to the issue at hand, it would be great fun to see two birds, the eaglets and kiwis fight for one ball!!!

Rehoboth: 2009-11-05 14:06

Haba this is ridiculous. NFF should not mislead this youngman into committing career harakiri(i.e suicide). They know the truth and should not initiate Chukwudi into their ostrich mentality. Chukwudi don't mind them O. Adokie is telling the truth. Just focus on ur present assignment since the mistake has already been made. God will have mercy on you. However, going to court to fight the truth would attract God's wrath to you. U are a victim of perverse system that we ernestly praying that God would change soon. As the New Nigeria emerges the old would fade into oblivion with it's rot.

Seye: 2009-11-05 16:18

if we want to sanitize the system we should be reasonable in how we go about things. i am not saying it is right to cheat in terms of age but don't people have eyes? can't you see some of the team in this world cup, how many of them are truly under 17 have you checked out Switz and Turkey teams? the westerners know how to hide theie shameful deeds and project positive image about themselves but Nigerians know how to project negative things about themselves and ignore the positives. enough of all these holier than thou attitudes. is this where to start if we know we want to sanitize the nation. why should people keep shouting about the effect while neglecting the cause. how old could Rooney be? will you ever hear any english press messing him up like this. am not saying we shouldnt come clean but the truth is that NO NATION of the world comes clean in this matter. that is the gospel truth. it isnt bad if we choose to come clean regardless of what others do but we should just be matured a little. i personally dont think this Adokiye of a person means well as far as i am concerned and no matter how good our actions appear the motive also really matters. they should stop disgracing those of us outside naija. when we want to come home, nowhere to call a home. when we stay outside we are many times treated like a pack opf thrash because some stupid people wont mind to sell us cheap and sacrifice our pride on the altar of this holier than thou attitude. THIS IS UNFAIR.

Uche: 2009-11-05 17:16

NnamdiChukwu, you must be a kid. Odikie Amusiemeka was one of the best left wingers Nigeria ever had, he was a member of Nigerian Green eagles that won the first Nations cup for Nigeria in 1980. He later on became a lawyer and was one time the commissioner of justice or attorney general of Rivers state. I didn't think Odikie amusiemeka was lying. I just didn't think that the timing of his statament was good. I dare chukwudi to take his case to court, he knows that he will lose. Look at that guy closely, there is no way he can be 17 years old, common, let us be honest to ourselves. All these hypes about this statement is not doing chukwudi any good, the guy can't be 17, he knows that, if he was smart, he would just ignore the whole statement, with his comment, he is now bringing more attention to himself, and now any foreign club interested in him will be skeptical. Almost every club in europe knows that Africans and South americans cheat on their age. Chukwudi needs to just shut up, before someone snitch his ass out and show his real age. now its a rumour, he need to shut up and let is remain that way, if he keeps running his mouth, he will get caught and Nigeria will be banned, his career will be over

ABDULRAZAK: 2009-11-05 22:58

WHAT NONSENSE ARE MOST OF THESE MORONS TALKING ABOUT? OF COURSE MR. CHUKWUDI IS OVER AGED AND SO IS HALF(IF NOT ALL) THE TEAM. SAME GOES FOR THE OTHER COUNTRIES AS WELL. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW MANY TOURISTS HAVE BEEN SIGHTED COMING INTO THE COUNTRY TO WATCH THIS COMPETITION? THIS IS A CADET TOURNAMENT LIKE THE PRINCIPALS OR SHELL CUP. THERE IS ONLY ONE WORLD CUP AND THAT HOLDS IN SOUTH AFRICA NEXT YEAR.

kent: 2009-11-06 03:31

@Oscar.You are right to some point. But if Amiesimaka said the young man was in his team before, and that he is more than 17, what else do we need? You and I know that there is no way an U17 can play in our top league. That other African countries cheat,do not mean we should do the same. There is nothing called football age, your real age is your age. I donīt know what they do in the Americas, but I do know that W.European do not cheat.Because itīs not possible even if they want. And the so called MRI test is a joke anyway. Amiesimaka is not the one disgracing the nation but Chukwudi and the NFF. Age cheating of this level is a crime, and if Nigeria was a lawful country by now, chukwudi should have been in jail period.
