Chukwudi takes dig at Amiesimaka

Chukwudi takes dig at Amiesimaka

Posted: 2009-11-03 20:57

Golden Eaglets captain Fortune Chukwudi has taken a sly dig at his former coach Adokiye Amiesimaka, who claimed earlier this week that the player was older than he says he is.

Calling for support for the team ahead of Thursday's second round match against New Zealand, Chukwudi referred to an 'insignificant few who only want to destroy'.

“We thank Nigerians for the support we have received from them so far, and we want them to continue to support us in a big way until we win the trophy.

"There are so many good people in this country and we love them all. We are not bothered about the insignificant few who only want to destroy,” said Chukwudi.

Nigeria finished top of the group after battling their way past Germany and Argentina and the Eaglets skipper conceded that the team were well aware of how treacherous the knockout stages can be.

“Yes, we know there is never a second chance in the knock –out stages. We are prepared for battle and the prayers of Nigerians will see us through.”

On Wednesday, the captain and his deputy will receive the cash prize of $6,250 from Cadbury Nigeria PLC for their 25 shots –on –target in the first round of the tournament.

The presentation will be made inside the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja with top Cadbury officials in attendance. Corporate Affairs Manager Kufre Ekanem and Mrs Bimbo Alabi, Senior Brand Manager (Medicated Candies) will be there alongside a number of NFF officials.

The Eaglets trained at the Aguiyi Ironsi Barracks on Tuesday evening, as they did on Monday, and will use the main bowl of the National Stadium, Abuja on Wednesday, 24 hours before the clash with the boys from Down Under.

There are no injuries in the team as Head Coach John Obuh and his technical team plan their assault on New Zealand.

Garba lawal should be the next SE coach after he wins Gold in the U-17 championship. Obuh can proceed to the FE. There's need 4 Siasia to come and prove himself with Kano Pillars now dat we need a coach there. Shagari should be called to the kenyan match and kanu n****po should retire. Shikena!!

Chuks, the truth be told. We're not against you being the captain of the GE. We know you're an age cheat but we're not happy it's coming at the middle of a competition like this; again it's the wrong time. Amaesimeka may be one of those who made u what you're today...be careful how u speak against him in the public. You're still young manage ur PR cos' u may need some of these pp morrow.

CONGRATS KON
WAKAKAKAKAKAKAKA...
AM HAPPY THE DUDE DIDN'T MENTION NAMES WHILE GRANTING THE INTERVIEW [JUST AS THE HILARIOUS HEADLINE IS TRYING TO MAKE US BELIEVE HE DID SO],A BETTER HEADLINE SHOULD HAVE BEEN 'CHUKWUDI CALLS FOR TOTAL SUPPORT'

.. insignificant few..? I did not know Chukwudi can speak good English, considering the fact that NFA never showed him to have attended a secondary school. May be someone coached him on what to say. A fraudster has the audacity to defend himself. God bless Nigeria.

This Papa is clearly no Under 17 pikin, where on Earth does a 17yr child know how to talk like this?

as for the issue of wether Amasiemeka did the right thing, i'll say YES, the reactions of so called patriotic Nigerians just goes to show why Nigeria is a country that has not been making any progress in over 40years now.

U-17 and U20 world cups where not created so Nigeria could dominate, they were created to produce stars for tomorrow, How many of Siasia Flying eagles are dominating and doing good in the teams? why is it that teams we beat and thrash at youth tourneys have the same players that 9ja conquered dominating at various teams they play for? while 9ja players are going to Sudan, Look if you dont want to be struggling at every w/cup qualifier start fixing your crap up. But alas i'm speaking to people whom a Cow has more value compared to them,

No Age Cheats At FIFA Under-17 World Cup - Officials
FIFA have so far given the teams a clean bill of health as regards lining up players within the age limit. World football's governing body are also pleased with the way the tournament has been run thus far...
Nov 3, 2009 10:35:05 AM

FIFA vice-president Jack Warner has announced that organisers are yet to detect any player who is above the allowed age at this year's Under-17 World Cup in Nigeria.
An MRI scan was introduced at this year's competition to fish out age cheats, but Warner disclosed at a press briefing in Abuja that thus far no negative report has been turned in from the random testing conducted on teams at the tournament.
"There is no negative report so far. As soon as other reports are available, we shall release them," Warner said.
The FIFA chief also commended the general organisation of the tournament.
"I am very happy at this stage of this competition. [There have been] no major problems as such," Warner remarked.
"I must commend the workers at the Abuja, Calabar and Enugu. I have read some negative comments in the local media. The fact is that rain is an act of God. In England and other countries, they have similar weather disruptions.
"In Abuja, for instance, when the rain fell, we were told in 30 minutes play can resume and it happened like that, the same thing in Calabar and Enugu."

For those of you lambasting Adokiye for speaking the truth everyone knows but won't speak and for those very young forumites who are ignorant of the man's antecedents, please log on to saharareporters.com, a site for more mature people or use this link to read the reaction there to the story:

Whether wrong timing or right timing, whether he has bad or good intentions, whether he wants NFF job or not(which I think is too degrading for a man of his reputation), what we should be concerned about is whether the allegations are true or false. People have been crying about our age-cheating for many years now and nothing seems to be done so maybe, saying it like this might cause the authorities to take necessary actions to avoid repititions in the future.

Point: 2009-11-04 08:42

@Boa,
Thank you for the post. At least the insignificant few on this forum plus Adokie would keep shut. The GE is the last hope for any world trophies this year and next year in football if people are not aware. Chukwu boy, go ahead. You definately have more supporters. Fifa has cleared you and the team so I and the majority give our support. We are all over the place - just look in the stadium whenever you play. The insignificante few are the "ekwensu" guys. Let the ekwensus also identify age cheats from the other participating countries.

@Billion Take your time in this forum. This Adokiye Amiesimaka just looking for an avenue to bring Chukwudi down maybe because he has seen that they boys are doing well. Amiesimaka is nothing but enemy of progress.

what has Chukwudi done wrong? He ask for ur supports and said that they will not be distracted by any person wrong comments. did he mention any name? but Amiesimaka called his name directly, without any prove, yet you are calling for Chukwudi to shut up. NA WA OOOHHH. my question still remains, where was Amiesimaka all this period the GE were being formed? what is the work of this MRI test?

This is nonsense! This is a distraction!! How 'bout they wait until the end of the tournament to "reward" their performances? I don't get this. Is this some kind of publicity stunt on the part of the companies? I think the NFA and the team's coaching crew should call the shots here. Prioritization never ceases to be Nigeria's nightmare. Aren't there any more common-sense administrators out there???

Please don’t destroy our team - NFF tells critics

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), on Monday, expressed utter shock at derogatory comments made by former player, Adokiye Amiesimaka about the Nigeria U-17 team, the Golden Eaglets, currently campaigning in the FIFA U-17 World Cup, Nigeria 2009.

“It is a shame that people can take personal hatred and vendetta to the level that Amiesimaka has taken his own. We are shocked by his statements, particularly coming from a former international player, but we remain resolute and committed to lifting the image of Nigeria through football and refuse to be ruffled by such unpatriotic and silly comments,” said acting general secretary, Barrister Musa Amadu.

Amadu was referring to Amiesimaka’s column in a national newspaper on Sunday, in which the former Green Eagles’ winger made sarcastic comments on the present Eaglets.

“At a time that all Nigerians are happy at the team that we have put forward despite the odds, and the team’s performance is making many people to talk about the strength and savvy of Nigeria football once again, the ‘destroy-them-by-all-means’ attitude of the likes of Amiesimaka is very strange.

“We are not claiming to be perfect, as that is a virtue that belongs to only the Almighty God. But Nigerians are aware of the efforts we made to ensure that we put forward a genuine team.

“The team underwent MRI scans at the National Hospital in Abuja and at the world-famous Aspire Academy in Qatar, and is still being subjected to the scans at the ongoing competition. But simply because he wants to destroy, Amiesimaka has gone out to invent.

“We are not bothered. It is left for Nigerians to judge these kind of statements coming in the middle of a World Cup. We are only stunned that there are Nigerians who so pasionately hate their own country, simply because they are not at the helm,” said Barrister Amadu.

I Know that guy so well,He is not past 17.I was in ss3 wen he was in ss1.He should be around 12 when he was in adokies team.I wouldnt know what transpired but if he said he was 17 then i think he did it to get into the team. When you meet him physically u would know he is a minor.Adokie made a statement to kickoff that he was still looking as young as he was then...after seven yrs...ADOKIE PROMISED TO RUIN THE GUYS CAREER BECAUSE OF THE CONFRONTATION THEY HAD B4 THE GUY LEFT

oscar : 2009-11-04 12:23

KON the title of this article is obviously wrong. If your organization actually interviewed this boy, he should have directed his reply to Adokie. How can you guys deduced such a title from the whole message that you posted? If this was a print media, I would have directed a different message to them, but who are u guys trying to sell your articles to?

@ Billion, where is until proven guilty? I thought the guy passed the MRI test, why still crucify him? Or are we saying he didnt pass the test that would have disqualified him? Whatever people want to say, they can say, but until proven guilty, this boy is innocent.

I still do not understand why people will not be objective. Not everything that glitters is gold. Not every hard-faced people are older than their age. If he is older than his age, time will expose him.

Samuel: 2009-11-04 12:43

Has anyone noticed that HE DID NOT DENY THE ALLEGATIONS AGAINST HIM? This boy is too wise to be under-17...hahahahaha.
That MRI is nonesense

Omo Naija: 2009-11-04 12:52

I have no reasons to disbelieve Adokie but I have a problem with motives. I hope Adokie is not trying to be self-serving in his present outbursts about Fortune.

Why did he have to wait this far to expose this alleged misnomer? Why did he not scream when the team list was released more than 2-weeks before the competition? What does he wish to achieve at this moment when the team is gathering momentum?

I honestly think there is something sinister about Adokie's outbursts and I want him to forget about NFF seat if that is an ambition he is nursing.

Festus: 2009-11-04 14:06

Dear forumites. At this juncture i think we should take things easy
If trully chuks played 4 adokiye 7 8 years ago in sharks B team, how come the gy is from "A and B" academy. With what he has played so far and after 7 years according to adokiye, there's nothing stoping chuks from playing for one of the top teams in the premier league or somewhere in europe by now. So I fault Adokiye in that regard. Even in Adokiye's statements, he wasnt categorical enough. Now, what was adokiye's intention? The team list was released 2 weeks b4 the tournament, why did he not raise an alarm then, why now?

Festus: 2009-11-04 14:15

Mow to chuks comments, we all know that in jornalism, especially print journalism, editing comes into play, i dont think those were chuks's exact words, and as the caption says, the story doesnt even have to do with firing back at Adokiye. So I smell something in that regard. I watched this gy on NTA international last night and he looks really to me, and with the way he spoke, like a minor. And about Age cheats, is it only in Nigeria that we have them...??? Why this whole buzz. Those blacks in the german team are definitely not 15 or 16, 4get whatever is on their passpaorts, i can bet my head 4 dat. Ive monitored this tournament closely, like most aother, and i can tall u that not all are trully U17. Though the MRI might not be accurate, but a + 0r - 2yers is not too bad. And lets not 4get most times, its only 2 or 3 players in the winning team at youth level that usually gets to the top. Any one can check FIFA.com and check team lists of all editions of U20 and U17 tounaments

Festus: 2009-11-04 14:17

sorry 4 all errors, i was typing real fast

Festus: 2009-11-04 14:32

The performance of the GE at this tournament is a surprise to me and to many others, no one would have predicted a table topping performance 3 weeks to this competition, even the most incurable optimists. So lets give the some breathing space. This is by far the "youngest" U17 team we've ever had, much younger than the team we took to Finland in 2003, despite all the problems they faced:- they did not get even 1/2 the leaverage the U20s got, yet they are playing like they've been together for years. I think we just need to give them all the support they need. If FIFA has not complained, then no one should. Lets stop this "na me holy pass" thing and just enjoy the football!!!

Chukwudi is not U-17, Adokiye insists:

A former Green Eagles star, Adokiye Amiesimaka, has insisted that Golden Eaglets captain Fortune Chukwudi is over the 17 year age limit for the ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Chukwudi‘s date of birth is given as November 18, 1992 on the FIFA website, but Amiesimaka says the defender cannot be less than 25 years old.

The Nigeria Football Federation has maintained that its players are truly under-17, citing the Magnetic Resonance Imaging tests as proof of the boys‘ ages.

Amiesimaka said, “I‘m absolutely sure that this Fortune guy is at least 25. I groomed him seven years ago and he was one of the best players in my feeder team. The feeder team was like my baby and I knew Fortune quite well back then.

”The team had players who were between 18 and 20 and he told me then he was 18. We had no way of testing their ages, but we asked them about their education backgrounds and we made some checks to know if they were young.

”He even had a knee injury at a point and when he recovered he tried to register with Ocean Boys. He played for the Sharks feeder team in early 2003 against the Flying Eagles in a friendly. It was at the Liberation Stadium (Port Harcourt) and the Flying Eagles won 4-2. What more proof do they want that I know the guy very well? He told me he was 18 then and he can‘t be less than 25 now.”

Amiesimaka, who was the Chairman of Sharks back in 2002 and coached the feeder team, said Chukwudi was not the only player whose age was doubtful in the Eaglets.

He said, ”One of the other players, Olanrewaju Kayode, cannot also be under-17. He wanted to play for Sharks feeders in 2002 and he said he had finished secondary school back then. How then can he still be under-17? There might still be others but, as a lawyer, I don‘t want to speculate.”

Nigeria Football Federation officials have labelled Amiesimaka an unpatriotic person who might have a hidden agenda for his claims, but the ex-international insists that he loves his country and is not eyeing anybody‘s job.

He said, ”Patriotism is wanting the best for your country all the time and that‘s exactly what I want. We have the potential to be the best in this country and we cannot realise that potential by cheating.

”When I write, I don‘t just criticise, I also make suggestions on how things can be better. I served this country when I was young. I played for Nigeria when I was in the university and the law school and I always gave my best. How many of these guys can claim to be more patriotic?”

hello guys, i dont know why some ppl always want to creat confusion every where, where on earth do u see some one as honorable as a barrister challenging an out come of a MRI test? then u as a barisster wat proff have u againts the age of the guy, or just using ur mouth as a proff, wanderful i have never seeing a litrate man acting much more than an illitrate, bad belle man, enemie of progree, if i were u i cud have abide by the out come of MRI test, see wat the fifa vice president is saying, thats wat we call reall educated man, when he said so far no any MRI test have being negative but as soon as they have one they'll let the press knw wise talk,go to hell Adokiye jeaolucy man, if this boy is ur son will u have say that.u can say anything u like, we as a ppl, we'll abide by any result of the MRI, period.

Frank: 2009-11-04 17:35

@Billion, na u biko! The boy is over-aged and should watch his mouth!

Frank: 2009-11-04 17:39

For those of us who know Amesiemaka, we can testify that he is a firebrand who knows his stuff and for him to come out and say he knows Chukwudi means he knows him. How he passed the MRI remains a mystery if he in deed passed it. As far as FIFA is concerned Chukwudi is not over aged having passed the test. He should, therefore, play it cool before breeze go blow come really show fowl nyash!

MIKE:

WHAT EVIDENCE DO YOU AND SOME USELESS PEOPLE LIKE YOU HAVE TO SURPPORT YOUR CLAIM. WHAT THE SO CALLED COACH WAS DOING WAS WITCH HUNTING.

THE SO CALLED COACH SHOULD HAVE BEEN PROUD TO SAY, THAT THIS IS MY BOY, I BRING HIM UP IN FOOTBAL AND PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN PROUD WITH THE COACH BUT INSTEAD HE CHOSE CHEAP BLACKMAIL. AND BE REST ASSURED THAT NIGERIANS WILL HATE HIM FOR THAT

Finesse : 2009-11-04 19:50

May be he begged the small boy for dollars and he refused, that's why he resorted to cheap blackmail. Shameless barrister.

Niceguy: 2009-11-05 03:02

Lets assume Chukwudi is over age is he the first or only Nigerian player with over age? Is Nigeria the only country with over age? Can anybody mention a country that does not do age cheat? Can anybody convince me that this enemy progress called Adokiye Amiesimaka witch is a saint he abides law and never cheat in any way before? Why must adokiye witch be distracting our captain at this point of time? Because he was waiting for their failure and surprisingly they top their group and he got disappointed and started chasing shadow. This will bring his down fall and God will punish him for his evil plan against this young guy.

Niceguy: 2009-11-05 03:05

Somebody should warn this witch called Adokiye Amiesimaka to let this Chukwudi be or………

Niceguy: 2009-11-05 03:09

@Mallam Umaru Audu: you are not worthy to coment in this forum, you are suppose to be chasing cows.

Niceguy: 2009-11-05 03:22

@Kunle @SUYA shut up idiot, you are among the fools in the forum. @Billion etc: the guy didn’t speak bad you people should let him be and concentrate on the coming match

Niceguy: 2009-11-05 03:28

Age cheat is world crime, everybody should stop comenting about it, let Chukwdi and GE be. Good luck Ge.

bob: 2009-11-05 16:05

@ Billion & co. u guys should speak with decorum. Every nation has it's own problems but each manages it's own according to its ability. The whole bruhaha is not doing good to anyone. First why shld Amies open his wide mouth at the wrong time? when his advise would have been a plus was pretournament not amid tournament. Chuckwudi too reacted under presure. but in a nut sheel all of them and million other nigerians missed it. We sholud learn from other nations like England, their players are the nations jewel and they get commitment and good result in return from the players. We should stop being black in our minds, acts and images.

bob: 2009-11-05 16:17

@ Niceguy & co. when will some nigerians like u become educated? in year 3000? don't u know what is freedom of expression? Have u ever taught that without a fulani man that breeds cows in the bush under the scouges of rain and sun, ur generation would have since got extinct by "Kwashoko". Get educated man. every nigerian has a right to speak openly and write constructively on every national issue. That's what the constitution of this great nation says. If u refused to get educated, u are bound for a doom interlectually thereby geting unrelevant in discussion of this manner.FYI

Dr Kola: 2009-11-05 17:27

Adokiye's claim is utter rubbish, is he saying Magnetic resonance Imaging (MRI) is wrong? I don't like cheats too but for the first time FIFA & NFF got this tournment right. With MRI tests you can never get it wrong, therefore shut up Mr Barrister, get a case and a life!

COMMON NIGERIA!!!

Wole: 2009-11-05 19:27

When will Nigerians learn that the age group competition is to build up the confidence of young players for the future. Its not about doing everything and anything to win. Lets not deceive our selves, there is nobody under the age of seventeen in the current Golden Ealglet, and there has never been in the past Golden Eaglets. Adokie is not telling us anything that we don't already know. We should stop castigating him and think about the destruction this cheating is doing to our football. Nigeria has won this competition three times yet we are no where near winning the the senior world cup, or more recently even qualifying to participate in the senior world cup. Adokie is telling us the truth, Nigeria has got this all wrong just like everything else in the country. A word is enough for the wise. NIGERIANS STOP FEEDING OVER AGED PLAYERS IT IS WRONG!!!!!!!!

N.RIBADUFOR2011: 2009-11-06 15:56

whats all these nonsense about our boys, is it jealousy or what, are you people building or distroying? please enough is enough. please live our boys alone befor thunder fire you one after the other..

Yomi : 2009-11-06 18:14

I read some of the comments posted by the concerned citizens and It's a shame for those who associate winnig trophy with success of our sport development as a nation(especially football). Chief Olukanmi said the same thing when the former coach, Late Tella came back with the trophy the last . He said that "going through the profile of the players that did the nation proud at Korea, one wonders if truly our under-17 players have time to combine their academics with football and be a professional footballer in our local laegue for 4-5years before being selected by the Coach for the tournament"
Let NFF and other myopic supporters crucify Adokiye Amiesimaka, the bottom line is that when the roll call is being made of great players that graduated from youth development programme in 8-10years time, we will see who amongst these players will still be playing football at top level then.
Eto was 17years when he went to world cup and he is still much around now playing, Figo was in Saudi '89 with some of our U-20 players then but where are they now, Ronaldinho was in Nigeria 99 and played in the same tournament with our Julius Aghahowa but I leave the audience to Compare the two players today.
LET THE TRUTH BE SAID ALWAYS!

YomiDrummerboy

folem: 2009-11-06 19:19

@ Yomi

Figo was not in Saudi 89.
