Eaglets captain allegedly overage

Eaglets captain allegedly overage

Posted: 2009-11-01 21:45

Former Green Eagles winger Adokiye Amiesimaka has claimed that Golden Eaglets captain Fortune Chukwudi is at least nine years older than he says he is.

Writing in his column for national daily, The Punch, Amiesimaka claims that Chukwudi played for his Sharks youth team as far back as 2002/2003 football season.

"In the 2002/2003, I was chairman of the Sharks of Port Harcourt," Amiesimaka wrote. "I decided to have a feeder team of fresh school leavers not older than 20 years.

"As the feeder team concept was relatively new and because I had my own ideas about how a team at that level should be handled, I also doubled as its coach.

"One of my key players then is the current captain of our so-called Under 17 team.

"By his own admission at that time, that is seven years ago, he was 18 years old. MRI test or not his football history is common knowledge.

"If we are not utterly irresponsible, how can he be eligible for this tournament when he is not less than 25 years old now?" Amiesimaka said.

Nigeria will play New Zealand my brother. Brazil and Netherlands are out.

Mr Amaesiemeka,
As a barrister, you ought to be cautious about making such remarks for print. The only evidence presented by you is that "he told you he was 18years old(in 2002/2003).Have you considered that, he could have said so in order to be included in your feeder team as some youngsters might do? It is IRRESPONSIBLE for you not to have sought concrete evidence of his actual age then and now you its further irresponsible of you to put to print unchecked facts. Perhaps this underlines the laissez-affaire attitude of some barristers in our country.I suggest therefore, that you have this article withdrawn until you check out your facts. That was sheer laziness on your part, Mr. Barrister!!!

duke: 2009-11-01 22:57

Mr Mike,
Your attempt to defend Adokiye is futile. The point is that a LEARNED LAWYER should demand concrete evidence of age, but Mr. Amasiemaka did not do so. I can as well inform you that Adokiye was frequently controversial and prone to loose statements, when he played for Nigeria. Neither was he any positive role model .All I challenge him to do is provide "EVIDENCE" we can believe in.

oscar : 2009-11-01 22:57

Based on his familiarity with the national teams, it is a public disgrace for such a learned personality to openly insult the country that way. What is the basis for this outburst of stupidity and ignorance? What a disgraceful statement from a so-called advocate. Does he want recognition? Or is he just one of the "enemy of progress" in Nigeria? If he knows him that much, why didnt he contact NFF when the players were in camp? Why didnt he call the player to confirm his age? Why didnt he take the right and humble step to redress the situation when the team was being assembled?

"Basket mouth wan start to leak again ooooooo". Enemy of progress.

Udoinyang: 2009-11-01 22:58

He may be speaking the truth,if Chucks played for his sharks team. Go to the inter-house sports games of secondary schools if U want to know what a true U-17 looks like. When we say U-17,we mean players that are at most 17 years of age by the start of the tournament, they could turn 18 during the course of the tournament. We all know what we looked like at that age,we all have relatives and so on of that, comparing them to the current eaglets,U can tell if they are indeed U-17,its common sense. But I have a problem with the flying winger of the 80's on talking about it on a National daily in the middle of a competition, what does he wish to achieve? Meanwhile,I thought the next U-17 team should be in camp by now,so they can be ripe in two years, same for the U-20's. I wish I could run Nigeria's football for a day.

soccabros: 2009-11-01 23:20

SAINT ADOKIEYI Amaesimaka, how dare you...have u just lost focus, whatever your annoyance or malice against this young man is, this isn't the right time to shout wolf... this country's name is at stake u know...ur thought might be disastrous you know....nawaaaa 4 uooooh

Ndidi: 2009-11-01 23:23

Shame on you Barrister Adokiye Amiesimaka. This is the problem with our people as Nigerians say it "Bad Belle"
Why is this guy trying to bring down this Team? Did he not get a contract? What bones has he got with this Team? Did his son, relation, friends fail to make the Team? Mr Adokiye, what's your BEEF?

Billion: 2009-11-01 23:36

I'm not in support of us playing over-age players in de U-17 but if this guy has played 4 Adokiye as he claimed,& was even one of his key feeder team players; is dis d right way to reckon with him? Do u need to destroy his budding career? Did u not see it when d list was drawn many weeks ago & never said anything? Albeit, if Fortune is actually more than 17yrs old, he should withdraw from d tournament.

nelson: 2009-11-01 23:56

insulting adokie for his statement with not hide the thruth, why accussing your leaders for corruptions?when we can say the thruth even when we see it.

collins: 2009-11-02 00:08

you rather be ashame of your selfs rather than adokie who says the thruth.

Niceguy: 2009-11-02 00:12

@Amiesimaka or what ever you called yourself you are the most foolish Nigerian, very useless man. Enemy of progress, you think they will not progress to this level now that they have done it you are spreading your false news about the guy. God will punish for your evil did, had it been that this team is not doing well everybody will be complaining now they are perfuming well some enemies of progress are trying to blackmail them.

Niceguy: 2009-11-02 00:15

@Amiesimaka:Holy gust fire you. He who God bless no one can curse him.

Leonard: 2009-11-02 00:23

Probably he made the statement at the wrong time but winning the tournament with over aged players will not do us any good!!! By the way these are the people that should be in NFF no these bunch of........

abbey: 2009-11-02 00:33

it's a shame we do not care about the development of the game. I understand the sentiments of those of you guys who are lampooning Adokiye for his comments, which to you guys are unguarded. That is the story of our life in Nigeria; lies, corruption, cheating, insincerity etc are some of the virtures we treasure as culture . We glorify those who have plundered our destiny and our future and we are quick to rain abuse and chastise those who are bold to speak the truth. It's a shame we are yet to produce what can be called a world class player despite having done tremendously well in the U-17 competition, except that we hang on the exploits of Kanu.

Granted that we love to celebrate and see our team winning, but for how long will we continue to deceive the world and mortgage of soccer future. Interestingly, the key people benefiting from it are greedy administrators and not you and I. Indeed you called cheating progress? we are truly our own enemies.

Niceguy: 2009-11-02 00:34

@Di maria: so you are only 26? you must be an intelligent guy I do read your coment always, you speaks maturely than your age.

kempi: 2009-11-02 00:40

Adokiye may have made a good observation, and possibly has some evidence that could not be shown/printed as an 'attachment' on the newspaper's column. He may not have known that Fortune made the U-17 team before he watched the 'young' man on TV, and only then, knew about him being in the team. However, I suppose he (Adokiye) should have approached the matter differently. Writing about it in a national daily was surely not the best approach at his disposal. The issue could have been better managed to the best interest of truth/integrity, the country, and even Fortune.
Still, let's not crucify Adokiye. He surely doesn't deserve all the insults people have heaped on him via this forum. Rather we should advise all of us to learn to manage issues/situations more responsibly. More importantly, we should work towards positively changing our mind-sets (direction of reasoning), no just in football matters, but in every sphere of life.

Niceguy: 2009-11-02 00:40

@abbey: who knows if what Adokiye Amiesimaka said is truth or not? Even if it is truth what is his aim of saying it to the world now? This is blackmailing nothing else.

Ade: 2009-11-02 01:12

Mr. Amiesimaka is quite correct, why do we nigerians love to delude ourselves. Its so obvious dat these so called under 17 are over aged. Look at stanley okoro for example. Football is not abt win at all cost. I hope we dont win the cup.....we dont deserve it. the boys are good but we need not be cheats to make name. I hope FIFA will do something abt this.

SUYA: 2009-11-02 02:13

@billion
What budding career does this young man have if at the age of 25, he is still playing under-17 football. The same goes for 30 year-old STANLEY OKORO.

Naira: 2009-11-02 02:24

Adokiye Amiesimaka is uterly irresponsible and should never be allowed on any football matter in nigeria, infact he is a national sports enemy with a complete PHD (pull him down). Screw your ass Adokiye..Naira 4rom Sudan.

Uche: 2009-11-02 03:35

I don't really think that it is fair to other teams if Nigeria or any other team uses over age players. On the other hand Mr. Amiesimaka this is not the right time to speak up about the issue, you could have spoken up about it long time before the tournament started or could have waited and address the situation afterwards. What point are you trying to make now, get FIFA to kick Nigeria out from the tournament or may be embarass the whole country? Nigeria as a country is a total embarassment anyways but you could have let it slide until after the tournament, when the visitors go home, you can air our dirty underwears. I am a little disappointed by the timing of the statement not by the statement, the issue is a problem and has to be addressed immediately.

Nigeria youth sports's success are not rubbing off on the regular Super eagles because of this problem. The youths will dazzle claiming youths in their late to mid 20's, by the time they make it to the bigger stage, though the paper says that they are in their early 20's at the time, they are actaully in their 30's and that is why most Nigerian youth players do not exel after the youth tournaments because they are old by the time they are claiming early 20's. Look at yakubu, Ikpeba,Amokachi, Amuneke, Julius aghogowa, obafemi etc, their performances on the big stages lasted for few years because by the time they are claiming early 20's, they are already in their 30's while players from europe seem like they are playing forever because they are actually what ever age the paper says that they are. Imagine maldini that i knew as a kid was just retiring from active football, beckam, owen, lampard, samuel eto, hienry viera all still playing, i watched these guys as a teenager, am now in my 30's. they are still playing and doing well. The problem is not just in Africa, South American players do have the same over age problems, brazilian players do have the same trend that Nigerians have, look at players like Brazilain ronaldo, ronadinho, Adrian, romario emerson, etc, their fame last for very few years too because they are older than the age they actually have on papers. Their 30's something bodies could do well for few years then their true age will start showing on their performances, you can cheat the club and FIFA officials, but you can cheat nature, i am in my 30's and My soccer team went to a Nigerian soccer tournament here in the USA, I played against bunch of teenagers and early 20 yr olds, dude, i didn't need someone call 911 before i told the coach to sub me after 30 minutes.

This type of reporting is exactly what I wrote about yesterday. We are yet to know what information management means. BBC report was atleast diplomatic in shifting attention to the field rather than on organizational handicaps. We have a bunch of ignorant people claiming to be wise in our country. We accuse the West of portraying Africa in bad light yet we wash our underwears in the open. Shame to Nigerian journalist. I wont be surprised if an horrific story from one obscure Nigerian journalist draws attention away from the soccer festival going in Nigeria.Christopher Orji story of Nigeria '99 should have taught us a lesson. Shame to KON for its lack of fore sight.

WHAT SHALL I SAY ABOUT MR. ADOKIE?
WE NEED TO GROW UP!
WHISTLE BLOWING IS OK, BUT IT MUST BE DONE RESPONSIBLY.

keke: 2009-11-02 04:35

If Lulu and co.made away with nff money you guys will be calling for their heads.Let's call a spade a spade, Nigerians are a cheat. Why do we have to celebrate cheats when we are trying to wipe out them in all facet of our lives. For some of you who complained that every country does it,I think you haven't traveled to any western world before, you think every country is Africa where there is nothing like record keeping.
Anyways, that's why Amokahchi retired at the age of 26 when Edwin Van der Sar still play active football at 39.

Stan: 2009-11-02 04:40

Shut your fat stinking mouth Adokiye. You are a disgrace. A person of your status saying such a foolish thing. I don’t think you’ll be saying that if he was related to you. You have brought shame to the whole country.
There is a better way to express it if you had a concern about a players’ age. Did you just notice that he is in the team? Where were you during the training camp period; and during all those friendlies; and during all the MRI hoopla? Why didn’t you say something then?

Get your empty head out of the sand and take a look at players from other countries.
May be you should go around and identify all the over age players in all the teams in the tournament and report them to FIFA. That’s your new job you fool.

Thank you to all those who see it right to rebuke the so-called barrister.
May you rot in hell jealous ******* for bringing the nation into “disrepute“.

Cletus: 2009-11-02 05:48

@Uche, please where do the Nigerian soccer tournament take place in USA? please keep me posted. thanks.

Donna: 2009-11-02 06:42

I live in America. B/4 then, I used to think that Nigerians are the only people in the world that lie about things and cheat. Now, I know better where lying and cheating STARTED. YES YOU GUESSED RIGHT! THE OYIBO MAN
I believe you guys know where I'm going. Adokie should shut up and in silence, rue his missed chances of failing to be among the new generation of soccer millionaires. He has never stopped regretting that he never played professional in Europe like Okocha, GOAL KING-YEKINI AND KANU to name a few.
Adokie, nobody prevented you from appearing in the world soccer scene- if you had done enough as these new generation of stars are doing now, the North Africans would not have TWICED stopped your then PAPA EAGLES from going to the world cup. Do you have a short memory? The likes of me have never and will never forget the pains and agony your defeat caused us. Don’t go telling me you won the African cup of nations in 1980 because that was your greatest soccer achievement. What else did you achieve? YOUR MISADVENTURE WITH ENUGU RANGERS? AND WAIT A MINUTE- TELLS US WHAT YOU ACHIEVED AS THE CHAIRMAN OF SHARKS OF PORT HARCOURT.

Eberechi P.: 2009-11-02 06:42

When I read the headlines of Adokiye claims I curiously read down to see if he was going to say He is the father. Since he is not I wonder how he knew when the boy was conceived. Besides, people bear the same name. Perhaps he is looking for FIFA job, sorry.

NaijArsenal: 2009-11-02 06:48

Hmmm, the last time i checked Mr Ado was an ex-footballer-turned barrister or maybe someone should pls update me if he went for an overnight degree course as a medical doctor or an MRI specialist. Bros everybody know say all those guys i mean none of them is 17 even if they from spain, england and .... just name the country but why our own person wan come become witch for the person that he claims was a product of his academy, who even get sense for this our country sef? everybody want to be stupidly controversial. Na wao.

Demola: 2009-11-02 06:51

I respect Adokiye Amiesimaka very much cos he's a living legend but I want to ask him some questions: Where was he when the squad was named and then embark on training? If he knew so much about this guy why did he keep quiet until now?
Since he refused to say anything then, he should keep his information to himself, they are not relevant now.

okeh: 2009-11-02 07:28

Amiesimaka must be very stupid. he could not say it before the competition that is if this is true

joe: 2009-11-02 07:59

Amiesimaka:dont worry people like you have long time expired. He has already became irrelevant. Ask him which club side is ready to take him as coach, he was a bunch of failure while with sharks. he achieve nothing with both Green Eagle and Club sides he played for and coached. Let him go and ask the Koreans, Colobians, Germans etc about overage, they will give him better lesson. He is a *******. He cant deny that. He is not ready to contribute anything positive to Nigeria football. We can see what generations after him are doing to help the game and Nigerian players- the Jayjay,Kanu,Kechi,Garba Lawal,Oliseh, Tijani,Amunike,Shorunmu etc. In fact he was never exist in history of Nigeria Football. that name Amiesimaka is a fake just as his comment. Idiot

joe: 2009-11-02 08:06

Tell this man will know his history. if he doesn't shut up now, we shall let the whole wide world know all he has done so far. We know how he got into the green eagle. He should remember he was never qualify to play National team. Amiesimaka: you are not a saint, be careful of your comment.

Obuh: 2009-11-02 08:21

I FIND VERY INTERESTING, THE RESPONSE OF MOST FORUMITE ON THIS ISSUE!!!. ISN'T FUNNY THAT THE AVERAGE NIGERIAN FAN IS IN SUPPORT OF AGE CHEATING WHILE THEY CLAIM TO BE AGAINST IT! OTHERWISE, WHY WOULD PEOPLE BE RAINNING INSULTS ON ADOKIYE (ONE OF THE GREATEST PLAYERS IN NIGERIA'S FOOTNALL HISTORY)FOR EXPOSING THE NFF AND THEIR ACCOMPLICES. WHAT ADOKIYE DID IS NOT AS BAD AS WHAT SANI LULU, THE NFF PRESIDENT, DID WHEN HE ANNOUNCED TO THE WHOLE WORLD THAT HE WOULD GO AHEAD AND USE OVERAGE PLAYERS CONTRARY TO FIFA DIRECTIVES. HE CLAIMED FIFA CANNOT INSIST ON MRI SCAN FOR HIS PLAYERS ''BCOS IT IS NOT IN THE RULES AND RGULATIONS FOR THIS COMPETITION''. JUST LIKE LULU, ALL OF YOU FANS CALLING FOR THE HEAD OF ADOKIYE ARE THE ENEMIES OF PROGRESS FOR THIS COUNTRY. I STOPPED WATCHING THOSE MEN THE MOMENT I REALIZED ALOT OF MEN ARE OVER 25 YRS OLD.

I PRAY THAT WE GET KNOCKED OUT IN THE QUARTER FINALS AS A WIN AGAINST NEWZEALAND IS A SURE BANKER.

BATAN: 2009-11-02 11:26

@JOE: YOU ARE AN ILLITERATE!!!!! ADOKIYE IS WELL EDUCATED (PROBABLY THE MOST EDUCATED FOOTBALLER HAD EVER PRODUCED)WAS A COMMISSIONER OF JUSTICE!!! HE IS NOT A COACH BUT A SOUND ADMINISTRATOR. YOU DUMB HEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Daps: 2009-11-02 11:38

May God punish you abundantly for daring to bring shame to our beloved country and unsettling our team Amasiemaka. What did you achieve when you played for Nigeria? Why do you want to disgrace us in presence of the whole world? I repeat again, may God punish you

Daps: 2009-11-02 11:43

@BATAN, listen to yourself, you said you pray that nigeria is knocked out in the quarter final. Are you truly a Nigerian. You must be an ****hole

Austin: 2009-11-02 11:59

Most of the reactions to Adokie's revelation is reflective of our values as a people. When did we go so low as to celebrate cheating and then villify those who tell the truth. How many ppl on this forum will tell be that they have no doubts about the ages of ALL the teams that are playing in this tournament? Is it because Adokiye, MON, is talking about what he knows about only the Nigerian teams. I personally know of a player that had to turn down an invitation to play in this tournament because he is well over 20, but was invited all the same. Why must we cheat? A people who have descended as low as to call evil good, and good evil are truly doomed. we should honor Adokiye for being a true patriot and not crucify him.

alez Tp2: 2009-11-02 12:01

Hello Folks,

Truth is always bitter but that is the only thing that can solve the ills of the society. The officials must have known better not to use overaged players and also the learned barrister must have shouted this info before the start of the competition.
I appeal to all to stop being abusive on this forum. Thanks.

Noel: 2009-11-02 12:03

@oyintanda: therefore are u a monkey as well?

Austin: 2009-11-02 12:07

And those who are insulting Adokiye may never dream of attaining his height in his careers. Playing for the Eagles, Winning Nations Cup, A commissioner, A successful lawyer, administrator ... and an honest man! Adokiye will sleep well with a clear conscience, but will Sani Lulu? What will those of us denouncing Adokiye, MON, tell God when we kneel to pray (if we fear God at all)?

ZOE: 2009-11-02 12:09

I don't believe Adokiye, even though I have always respected him as a person, but I am highly dis appointed in Adokiye, not because he lied or is saying the truth, but because i would expect him to understand that this is a National issue and why would he want to bring up such a embarrasing situation now when the whole world is here. I am convinced that he wanted to settle some personal scores and his spoke before engaging his brain. PATHETIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CHRIS: 2009-11-02 12:09

I think Adokiye is indirectly telling us that FIFA MRI is inadequate and unrealiable. If Chukwudi passed FIFA MRI test and is adjudged overage by Adokiye then all the players for the same competition are all overage using the same FIFA MRI. So, please Mr. patriotic man go and settle your personal problem with whoever your are having malice with in the glass house and stop putting the entire Nigerian nation in disarray.

BATAN: 2009-11-02 12:16

@ DAPS: I AM MORE NIGERIAN THAN YOUR CHAETING SELF. YOU THINK I WANT TO CELERATE WINNING AN U17 TROPHY WITH A TEAM OF MEN AVERAGE AGE 28YRS? WHERE IS YOUR CONSCIENCE, INTEGRITY ETC ETC. I WOULD RATHER HAVE A TRUE U17 TEAM THAT WILL NOT WIN THE TOURNAMENT BUT DEVELOP INTO GREAT SUPER EAGLES STARS IN THE FUTURE. WE HAVE WON THE U17 CUP 3 TIMES!!!!; HOW HAS THAT HELPED OUR NATIONAL TEAM? PLEASE GO AND THINK, PROGRESSIVELY PLEASE!!!!

Positive
The fact that many people are reacting angrily and rising in defence of the Golden eaglet and Nigeria at large is a good sign of patriotism. The good thing is that these ‘lads’ are relatively younger than what we used to present in the past.
Coartem, the antimalaria drug.
As bitter as this drug, it one of the best drugs that attack malaria in order to free someone from the deadly effects of malaria.
Let’s reason together
I think this is common sense. Let’s assume the Barrister is ‘wrong’ but let’s do this simple arithmetic. If Fortune is 17 and we take away 7, that means he was 10 in 2002. Is there any club in Nigeria that has a 10 year old in its feeder team (not academy team)? No matter how bad you may want to make adokie look, the truth remains that most of you are not more patriotic than he is. I’ve said this to all those who care to listen that God will not come down to help us change things when they are not working well. One of the ways of changing things is by being audacious in: REPORTING cheating, corruption and offering reasonable and realistic suggestions. We should also learn to sacrifice personal gains and fame for the Dignity of this nation.

This is so bad. What Adokiye want out of this. This may go a long way to disqualify Nigeria in this competition.

Garvey: 2009-11-02 14:07

Most of the comments here somehow show the true state of Nigeria. We have gone so low to even call ourselves monkeys.

Stan: 2009-11-02 14:38

Some people think condemning Adokiye for this means you approve or condone cheating. Nonsense. Nobody should celebrate cheating of any kind. There is no real joy in cheating. All we’re against is the manner in which he did it and the damage he is doing to the nation.
The man has a different motive. He is seeking publicity. He wants to be seen as a brave and outspoken man.

I used to like him. But now, he can go and practice law in hell.

…..“True reflection of Nigeria” my yansh. Again, somebody may be right in what they are saying, but totally wrong in the manner in which they’re doing it. That will always bring condemnation no matter how right they are.

Osayo: 2009-11-02 15:36

We are all masters of our destiny. Reading through the reactions here, I wonder why we still don´t know why we are still lagging behind. How long will it take us to get out of our slumber?
ABBEY, AUSTIN, BATMAN, EBUKA BORA. You all wrote a great piece.
To others, I would love to join and celebrate, but it is high time we progress. Life is about making progress or else we would all be at a standstill. We have won Three U-17 trophies already albeit age controversies. Is it not time that we start asking why we can´t get past that stage?
We all condemn the administrators for their inadequacies. But the real culprits are the people who are myopic and crave for cheap, ready-mades.

BAN: 2009-11-02 16:12

Nothing to be gained in cheating at any level. The gain of cheating is only shortlived and the consquences is eternal. Adokie thank you for standing on the side of the truth. I am sure not only Chukwudi but some others in the team are over age. We will all pay the price of cheating later.

ody: 2009-11-02 16:33

with all respect, he should have said this long ago not now . plz lets cover the shame and keep the matter silent

Cosmas : 2009-11-02 16:33

Cosmas: The write up from Adokiye should not be allow to go uninvestigated for better tomorrow and appropriate remedial actions to be taken on who ever has erred. The apex Nigerian football authority should set up board of inquiry to unravel the allegations of over aged player:Fortune Chukwudi. The result of the inquiry will determine if Adokiye is to be charged to court for false information or the football managers responsible for recruitment is to be punished. Without unbiased inquiry into the serious allegation, Nigerians in particular and the world in general may not know the truth of the matter.

Nero: 2009-11-02 17:07

I want to ask Amiesimaka, if is now he rhat he just knew that is Chukwudi is the capital of this U-17? also some one who knows him shpuld plese tell him to take his case to fifa and tell fifa that thier MRI test, is fake. hahahaha

utibe: 2009-11-02 18:58

A man's enemy are the members of his household. we have identified Amesimeka as one of d greatest enemy of this country by his approach. Even if it is true he wld have said it b4 now or keep quiet. From dis action, I want to believe he is having a secret agenda which is based known to him. Anyway, if anything negative happen, he shld be 100% blamed. It is only Nigeria that d citizens like plotting 4 her downfall. Why are other country having organised way of tackling situations? Does it mean dat no suspicious over age in those countries? We do not like dis country at all by behaviour of some so called d learneth like him.

utibe: 2009-11-02 19:22

FOR THOSE OF US SUPPORTING ADOKYE IN HIS ACTION. I WANT TO SAY HERE ARE MORE POLITE WAY OF RAISING AN ISSUE ESPECIALLY WHEN IT HAS TO DO WITH D NATION AND NOT INDIVIDUAL. IF YOUR WIFE COMMIT ERROR WILL YOU GO TO THE PUBLIC AND ANNOUNCE? WON'T U WAIT FOR THE APPROPRIATE TIME? THE GOOD OF ADOKYE IS WRONGLY IMPLEMENTED. HE WLD HAVE WAITED AFTER THE COMPETITION AND TATCK THOSE INVOLVED THAN FOR HIM TO EXPOSE WHEN THE TOURNAMENT IS GPING ON. WHERE WAS HE WHEN THE LIST WAS RELEASED. A PERSON OF HIS CALIBRE SHLD MORE MORE CALCULATIVE AND NOT TO OPEN HIS MOUTH ANY HOW. I BELIEVE OTHER COUNTRY WILL NOT DO THIS EVEN WITH OVER AGE. ADOKYE SHAME ON U.

eyegee: 2009-11-02 22:23

mr learned barrister Adokie,i can see that you are not learned.you lack wisdom and common sense, how can you say a thing like that at this particular time, what an improper timing, where were you before now?i am so surprised that you went university and read a noble profession but you behaved like an illitrate motor-tout who does not know about nation building, you have messed up woefully.

Kofi: 2009-11-02 22:50

Truth Hurt. Let's put an end to these practices OVERAGE, BRIBBERY and all sort of immoral stuff that tarnish AFRICA's name.

chidi: 2009-11-03 00:30

Na waoh for this old international.what was he thinking? Maybe they turned down one of his boys and the player playing in the position of his boy is the young man that he may have somethings to settle with.... Why not shut your mouth after until after the games and you can go to CNN and say that not only in PUNCH.. I hope Mr Barrister will not be called one day to contribute to the Nigerian game because of this because it is a spit on the face of the U-17 team and the Nation in general.

Udeme: 2009-11-03 08:44

My fellow Nigerians, every country in this tournament are using at least 8 overage players and no one is talking about them in their own countries. Why do people like Amiesimaka try to dent the names of our U-17 players. Fortune Chukwudi passed the MRI test not once but twice. Also, I think Nigeria happens to be one of the few countries in this tournament that used the MRI test to determine the age of their players.

john: 2009-11-03 11:13

Amiesimaka OR WHATEVER IS A BIGGEST FOOL ON THE EARTH FOR MAKING SUCH COMMENT AT THE MOMENT AND ANYBODY WHO SUPPORTED HIM FOR ANY REASON IS EQUALLY FOOLISH. MUTHER****ERSSSSSSSS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IceQueen: 2009-11-03 13:47

Adokiye is an attorney and knows the implications of publishing half-truths.

If Mr Chukwudi thinks Mr Amiesiemaka is not saying the truth, he should come out and sue.Otherwise we should all shut up.

An outsider reading some of the coomments here will think Nigerians are a bunch of dishonnest gits who want to win by hook or crook. Or are we?

dozie: 2009-11-03 14:14

who are we to believe this time. fifa has done their scan. the guy passed thru. is charge and bail lawyer adokie calling the manufacturers of the machine fools? i know that the mri scan is still going on even as the tournament is ongoing. pls tell that lawyer to shut up if he doesnt know wat to say.

ken gadaffi: 2009-11-03 15:52

I really dont blame Adokiye for his chatter rather I hold the editor of the newspaper liable.
If the editor had done his job well, he ought not to allow such to be published.

I write for a foreign media in the country of my residence and sometimes, my editor will refuse to publish my article not for want of substantial evidence.

Be it as it is now, we just have to move on with it and hope the GE go on to retain the trophy.

THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH

Patrick: 2009-11-03 17:27

Nigerians shouldn't bother much on what Adokiye said in respect of furtunes age.FIFA had used the same test equipment to verify the age of all the players, if the equipment failed to assert the actual age of one player, obviously it had failed in all, hence all the players in this tournament should be declared over aged. I'm sure FIFA will be very careful on this matter except the gov. body wants us to beleive the equipment failed only in one instance. Adokiye had thrown a stone on the roof, lets wait to hear what the owner of the house will say.

osadolor: 2009-11-03 17:39

Mr. truth teller shut up ur mouth that is why you no progress in football allow the boy grow.

Kebiru Ariastotle: 2009-11-03 18:48

What this barrister say is very bad for a country that hosted a tournament, how can he say somebody is 9 years old than is normal age, when u don't have concrete evidence, if he play with u as a feeder didn't he bring his birth certificate along, if yes, i know u will still have the photocopy, we want u to publish it on the dailies, or else if that guy sue you, you will be in sup......

kent: 2009-11-03 20:10

Maybe not nine years, but at least five.

jp world: 2009-11-03 21:03

Yes Adokie is right, 25/26 years shouldn't be allow to play u17 the age difference is too much, 20/21 is ok, this boy they are talking about now, in the next 5 years should be his real peak, but that 5 years time he will be 32, is really horrible situation.
