Njabulo Manqana dribbles past Ajax keeper Hans Vonk

It's not about the money

It's not about the money

Golden Arrows midfielder Njabulo Manqana says winning the MTN8 Cup Final is worth more than any bonus.

Manqana, who won the Man of the Match award, attributes his side's 6-0 victory against Ajax Cape Town at Orlando Stadium on Saturday to "great teamwork".

He crowned his superb evening with two great goals as Arrows won their first major cup Final.

"I have been with Arrows a while and I have never seen the players fighting like they did during the game against Ajax," Manqana says.

"We worked hard and fought together as a team for the whole 90 minutes. I believe that even if they had added another 90 minutes Ajax were not going to come back, and we would have continued to score more goals!

"This is one of the greatest moments in my soccer career. It was also my first Man of the Match award in the PSL.

"I want to thank my teammates for achieving what we have been wishing for for a long time. The Cup also means a lot to the people of KwaZulu-Natal, who deserve to celebrate and enjoy our achievement."

Manqana tells KickOff.com that winning the cup was "worth more than money".

"I dont anything about the money promised to us, but for me money doesn't mean anything. The trophy is what counts. I will treasure this medal for the rest of my life."

That's the attitude Manqana,it's no wonder u've done so well ur self since the start of the Season.Just keep ur feet firmly on the ground&u'll neva go wrong. Some of Pierats players retired without having won any kinda medal. So just knuckle down&work very starting on Wednesday against Amakhosikazi.

Dude you cannot eat that medal. Likes of Mbuthu, Malatsi etc have medals but Teko with no medal has more money than them and lives a better life. Keep working hard though, 4 goals ( 2 vs wits, 2 vs ajax) in 2 games is great.

Trophy doesn't pay the bills, money does

topdaug : 2009-10-25 21:29

We all appreciate dat money pays the bills. Let us not be shadowed by our greed n being financial experts. Am pretty certain that they will receive a fair share but due to the passion he and the team displayed, the finances played 2nd fiddle. We should celebrate players who are still passionate and having the willingness to win.
Ta!

Great display by the team and what a goal by Njabulo. Knowing South Africans, whats next Mqithi to lead Bafana in 2010 or Manqana for Bafana Bafana?

Haai maar! Evrything has a price so everything is about money

Howard: 2009-10-26 11:04

Congrats to Arrows, they deserve it. They have brought joy to us ppl from KZN. Njabulo had a super game. People Money isn't everything, yes its nice to have money but succees is by far the better reward. & we all know that with success comes oppotunitie & with that comes financial gain. SO NJABULO "Mvongqo" MANQANA, keep yo feet on the ground & strive for succes.

Jealous Down! Hala la Bafana Bestinde. Hop u contast more finals & dish the same exciting soccer.

To sashay from the main topic. Who/What are two stignant bodies Ajax put in central defence? No wonder average players like Kaizer Jnr could find the next against Ajax. Infact thats why average teams Cheats could put three past Ajax.

S\'busiso: 2009-10-26 11:48
