Hunt to take over after 2010?

Hunt to take over after 2010?

Posted: 2009-10-24 09:17

SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt is set to be announced as the new Bafana Bafana assistant coach.

This comes after Safa president Kirsten Nematandani announced during a press conference at OR Tambo International Airport that they will rope in a third assistant to help Bafana in preparation for the World Cup 2010.

Nematandani announced yesterday that Carlos Alberto Parreira had signed a nine-month contract to return as national team coach, paving the way for Hunt to take over after the World Cup.

“It was our wish to have a local person coach the national team, but we only have eight months to go to the World Cup and there is no time for experimenting, so we went for experience,” the Safa president says.

“Also, it is Parreira’s programme that the national team is following, so it’s only fair and wise that he returns to continue with it. But the meeting has agreed in principle that the next Bafana Bafana coach after the World Cup will be one of our own.”

A Safa official who wanted to remain anonymous tells KickOff.com that Hunt has agreed to take the position as Bafana assistant coach, but an announcement will only be made after the governing body have met SuperSport and grant him permission to serve on the technical team.

“We have agreed in principle that Gavin Hunt is going to take over as Bafana Bafana coach after the World Cup. We are still to meet with SuperSport to allow him to be assistant coach; in the meantime, Parreira is in charge of the national team for the 2010 World Cup,” the source says.

Then El Presidente, please pay the guy good money as well. Then put together a devcelopment program and a reserve league adn, and, and. There is a lot to be done after the world cup, we need to build a squad that will compete with the best, at the moment, we are the worst.

I am just glad Santana is gone and although I dont understand some of your decisions, I accept it and only hope we will grow from this as I am tired of the "learning" excuse. And another thing, please don't fire Hunt when he doesn't dance to your tune like SAFA did to Shakes Mashaba...peace and love

Sam : 2009-10-24 09:46

We do not care about his programme, he failed us a big deal with his cousin Santana. His programme failed us Angola AFCON & SA FIFA world cup...we have just qualified cause we are the host nation. We didn't qualify in field of play.He should have not comeback!!!

Swona: 2009-10-24 09:58

this guy failled, he is going to fail again, with flying colours, so does this mean, Pitso is bitting the dust? useless traitor, hope Gavan will not be there for money and keep quite, he will add value

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2009-10-24 10:23

heheheheh!!! Ivirn Khoza can do better than Nematendani. The puppet of " Danny and Hack"

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2009-10-24 10:24

we dont care whether they appoint hunt or not. This is a waste of money.

Your Nepotism

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2009-10-24 10:29

I thnk safa is a political organisation. using athe ANC system of ruling. No democracy all decisions ar taken by one,he is deligating.

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2009-10-24 10:30

After the recent SAFA presidential elections people hav talked of da changes in our football general, where are those changes? How on earth can SAFA bring back the failure? I kindly question the current SAFA leadership

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2009-10-24 10:33

This is not an African world Cup.Since we do not trust in ourselves. Brazilian are here to overshadow Africa intellects. In 2014 Brazil will host wthe world Cup, guess what" The coach would be the brazillian". they dont undermine themselves.

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2009-10-24 10:35

SAFA has shooting in the wrong direction.

Zuko : 2009-10-24 10:47

I would like Pitso to be given a chance to tell us how was it like working with Santana and what was his role there? There's nothing has been said abt him and he's quiet. If possible he can go to Marawa's show

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2009-10-24 10:49

Zuko !! hehe !! Pitso is a tribalist.

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2009-10-24 11:07

I hope Gavin will turn down this offer.

Gavin hunt, is he not the same guy when asked about Bafana bafana game he said that he does not watch when bafana play, he rather play golf and now he is gonna be our assistant coach, Perreira the same guy that left us for a sick wife is back again to collect more medical money from us, people were raving about Nematandani bringing change to our football, the guy is a puppet, he cant make his decision,Danny has been negotiating for Parreiras return three months befor the elections, sis

The experiance he is talking about failed to help bafana for angola, how can it work for the coach who also failed at fluminense while having the same players everyday.

If Hunt is to take over after the world cup, then what will happen to Pitso Mosimane who was earmarked for that? That's SAFA 4 u!

Dwala : 2009-10-24 12:48

That source of yours just couldnt shut it mouth, could it? There was no need to tell us that Hunt agreed in principle before you even contacted ssu. What do you think ssu will react to this? Negotiating with their coach and even agreeing!

Nkosikhona : 2009-10-24 13:24

If this is true then am happy for Gavin Hunt, surely he'l add value to Bafana, its about time!!

an: 2009-10-24 13:24

Holla Mzantsi..little knwoledge is dangerous! 1. Santana failed to go to Angola not Parreira.
2. You can be a great chef but if the ingrdients are bad guess...
3. Time to accept that Nematandani is president and stop wasting ur companies internet resource with rubbish comments.
4. We South Africans compromise a lot
5. Hope the Lord is kind enough to bless us with wisdom, one sky!

Douglas: 2009-10-24 14:06

It seems local coaches accept to be underestimated as they agree on everything they are told by fat cats(safa bigwigs). Why should we a failed program, this is load of bull, Nemathendani is talking rabish. Appoint Hunt as a head coach not after 2010. Who don't like to coach in a world cup? Mr urge all local coaches not to take Bafana head coaching seat after 2010 because it is obvious they are taken for a ride.

Dire : 2009-10-24 14:36

I feel safa did the right thing by bring in carlos peirera becos bafana bafana does not have time 4 expiriments so we needed a qualified coach and im teling good times wil be back 4 bafana and its going 2 be soon.

Arnold : 2009-10-24 14:52

This is very interesting and irritating, what happens to Pitso if Hunt agrees to be ass coach?
Also if you agree in principle that means they can turn around their decision and say that there was no contract that was signed.
It is for these reasons that I still don't want to buy the national team jersey.

Dwala : 2009-10-24 14:55

@An. Carlos failed 2 qualify us 4 Angola, dnt talk **** bru. Check your facts ***** and 4 the record we aint using company's resources.

Khosi 4 Life Since 1970: 2009-10-24 15:00

agreed in principle, my foot!

Hunt was suppose to be given a position more than an ass-is-tan....meaning that he will be licking parreira's ass for his opinion to be heard, nx!

Nematandani, now that you have proved to us that your vision is the same as Molefe's, just make sure that this parafes calls Benni and given his an arm band...finish and klaar!

God forbids, Suffer leadership is full of fools!Nonsense!

Swona: 2009-10-24 15:00

KO MUST REMOVE TEKO'S PICTURE HOLDING THE BALL, they must get another player Dan kluit or Phelembe, or Steven Pienaar

Fuze : 2009-10-24 15:41

Lets hope the coach places players like Modise in the positions they perform well in and doesnt put dem n positions they fail.Lets hope he puts Modise n Central Midfeild and that useless Mokoena must go,We need Benni,Klate and Pelembe.Al da best Bafana Bafana:)

OBG : 2009-10-24 15:45

Pirates supporters are talking from personal hate after the lose against SS. Hunt deserve to be given a chance. He is the only coach with high coaching qualifications. I support SAFA on this one. Please Pirates it doesn't mean because SS beaten Pirates and SAFA pres is not Khoza like u wished, now u guys and gays must rubbish everything about SAFA.

Sweyts: 2009-10-24 15:48

Ha ha Justice, give the poor dude a break.... he`s had a tough time from all corners lately, even his own are crbashing him a lot..... It`s only his nose that seems to be a lil`fat a bit! lol! Otherwise intwane sharp.

Back to Parreira..... He'll better make the final or else, it`s all his fault... uzonya ne vrou yakhe yembomla!

OBG : 2009-10-24 15:50

Fuze:2009-10-24 15:41

Modise is a fake. He is washed-out. He must be dropped from BB, even @ Pirates he is the weakest link. Anyway, am not surprise, u even talk about Pelembe (he is not a South African, and he played 4 his national team already). Mokwena is in the same class as Modise. Both overated and useless.

zimbo1: 2009-10-24 15:59

one step forward three steps backwards we dont need santana (aka) parreira we are fed up guys lets boycot south and support zimbabwe

Sweyts: 2009-10-24 16:03

I just hope that people are aware of the fact that Dominguez is Mocambican internaional together with Dario, and therefore not eligible to don the Mzantsi jersey.

Mhh! How nice it would be to see Teko on the bench, waiting for Pele..... to tire, before he could have a run(for a chnge). Mhh too bad Teko has`nt got any competition @the moment in Bafana and especially Pirates.

The Gavin Hunt issue is debatable because Gordon is much more succesful than him, Gavin achieved zilch at Lidoda Venda,,, He achieved fokol at Swallows,,,,, Cut and pasted Pitso`s groungwork at Sion Utd and then won the league on the last day in successive seasons with absolutely nothing to spare..

He`s nothing special either....Gordon`s the wiser of the two, no doubt.

I fail to understand as why "suffer"has no faith in the local coaches. We all know that the so called program of periperi does no bring results at all.And also this is the same guy who dropped us over a year ago and recommended an inexperience for us.I guess that says much for his love for the country.

Dj cool : 2009-10-25 06:59

Well it wl b owesome 2 hv South africn coach.whch means ths new president cn feel the needs of the people thnx about Gavin Hunt we just need 2b patient by nw.lets give MR PAREIRA a chance 2 re group the players, lets support AFRICN TEAMS on ths not jst only BAFANA-MAHULE. Pitso deserves that post after the WC, not Gavin!

Everybody! please read Mzakes` comments. We are doomed to be forever repeating the same mistakes in soccer (and life!) because we find it so easy to respond to our current emotions intead of referring to plans we have made previously. Thanks Mzakes

Promise : 2009-10-25 12:49

Hopefully his personal problems are over

mandla: 2009-10-25 13:37

I agree with Mzakes - the Bafana Job requires a man with strong nerves. There is so much pressure when the whole country including its State President and Comrade Julius are putting their feet in as well.As of a sudden everybody has an oppinion. Poor Kirsten,he accepted this nomination for president at a wrong time - when all the eyes of the whole world are on the country to play well in the world cup. Now the PSL Board of club Governors are also sharpening their knives against him.Its crazy ! Is it beacuse of the R1 billion rand coming to SAFA after 2010 ? Lets wait and see if he survives this one.

Gee : 2009-10-25 22:00

I dnt care wh ey appoint z head coach, bafana wil lose no matter wh thier coach s,ey r a bunch f unpatriotic lazy players wh dnt hv any pride i thier country.

Phelelani: 2009-10-26 09:18

Is Gavin Hunt the best South African coach?
What did Gordin Igerson did to ignored like this?
What type of phyllosophy did SAFA want BB to play after 2010?
Who has the playing SA style better than Manqoba Mnqithi?
If has answers please don't hesitate.
