Ajax Cape Town players are set to go home with more than R100 000 each if they win the MTN8 Final against Golden Arrows at Orlando Stadium on Saturday night.
This come after Urban Warriors management promised the players R4 million to share among themselves if they lift the trophy and R8 million cheque in Soweto.
Club CEO George Comitis said the players deserved to be rewarded for their hard work in reaching the Final.
“This has been our policy over the past years. It is going to remain the same with the MTN8 Final as they will share half of the prize money if they beat Arrows on Saturday.”
Meanwhile, the Urban Warriors have suffered a major blow ahead of the MTN8 Final after striker Diyo Sibisi was ruled out of the game due to suspension.
Sibisi picked up his third yellow card during the Absa Premiership match against Bloemfontein Celtic in Cape Town last Sunday. However, Comitis said they would be welcoming Dispsy Selolwane and Clifford Ngobeni back for the Final.
.
“It’s big blow for us but we have other capable players to do the job for us on Saturday. We decided not to play Ngobeni and Selolwane against Celtic because they were both sitting on yellow cards and good news now is that they will be both available for the Final.”
Comitis added that caretaker coach Jan Pruijn will be on the bench.
“Foppe de Haan will go back home after the Final and only come back on November 2 to start his job with Ajax.”
