Golden Arrows striker Richard Henyekane is expecting to be watched closely when Abafana Bes’thende meet Ajax Cape Town in the MTN8 Cup Final on Saturday night at Orlando Stadium.
“I am always marked closely but I am used to it. Its part of the game and it forces me to up my game you know. Being quick is not all, I have to be smarter so that I can get to the ball before a defender does,” said the speedy forward after a grueling training session at the Howard campus sports fields.
“But if Ajax is going to watch me only then they’ll be making a mistake. We have very good players in every position and each one of them can do damage,” he says on Arrows’ website.
“Ajax has very good players too but I don’t want to mention names or be too concerned about what they will do. This is a team sport and Arrows want the trophy, not Richard Henyekane. I am a part of this team.”
Winning the R8 million first prize is more than enough motivation according to the Kimberley-born player who says they play to win every match irrespective of the prize.
“Every match is a must win for us. We approach every game with the aim to win, I mean what other approach is there?
“But yes the prize is a big motivating factor and playing in a final too is a dream come true for all of us. We want this club to be successful and we are on the path to glory.
“This game will be over in 90 minutes. We are going all out,” he said confidently.
