Sellas Tetteh reckons it’s time Ghana ends Africa’s long wait for an Under-20 World Cup title after his Black Satellites team booked a date with Brazil in the 2009 edition.
Ghana will be playing in their third Final of the tournament in five appearances on Friday and Tetteh is hoping after the previous failed attempts against Brazil in 1993 and Argentina in 2001, the Satellites will finally clinch Africa’s first world title at this level.
“I believe this is the time for Africa to win this trophy and I believe Ghana can do it,” Tetteh said after his team came through 3-2 over Hungary in the semifinal.
Tetteh’s side have looked deadly in front of goal but they have also looked weak at the back, conceding five goals in three knockout games so far.
But the Ghanaian trainer is confident that overall his side have the fire power to come through anytime.
“We will sit down and correct the mistakes, he said of the defensive lapses. It’s not something we are happy about but so long as we remain clinical in front of goal, we will be able to win matches.”
