Mozambique coach Mart Nooij believes his team will beat Tunisia in Maputo when both sides met on the final day of qualifying for the 2010 World Cup.
The Mambas can no longer make the party in South Africa, and can afford to lose to Tunisia and still qualify if Nigeria beat Kenya, but Nooij is taking no chances.
"We want to qualify for the Nations Cup and we don’t want to depend on another team's result to do it for us," he told KickOffNigeria.com after the game in Abuja.
"We know that if we win, we will qualify no matter what happens in Nairobi so we want to keep our destiny in our own hands."
Nooij also says victory will show that his team have progressed and could compete with the best teams on the continent, adding that both Tunisia are Nigeria were lucky to win against the Mambas on their own individual turfs.
"Tunisia were lucky to beat us when we met them in Tunisia. Nigeria too, were lucky today because we did not take our chances.
"We will do our best to win that game so that we can show the rest of Africa that we are coming to Angola to be serious and not to make up the numbers.
Nooij also added salt to Nigeria coach Shuaibu Amodu's festering wounds by describing the Nigerian team as naïve.
"Nigeria were tactically naive. The team has been playing the same style since we drew the first game in Maputo. We knew we could hold our own in Abuja, but we did not expect to get as many opportunities to score as we had.
"If our strikers had taken their chances, we could have won or got a draw."
Mozambique host Tunisia on November 14 simultaneously with Nigeria playing Kenya in Nairobi.
The only scenario that will see the Super Eagles qualify is if they beat Kenya, and Tunisia fail to win in Maputo.
That result will leave both sides level on points, but Nigeria would have a marginally superior goal difference, which is the first tie-breaker.
