Extended break is just what Luphahla needed

Posted: 11 January 2008 Time: 08:47

Platinum Stars’ midfielder Joel Luphahla who last season suffered one of local football’s most horrendous soccer injuries, says the extended Absa Premiership break is a real blessing as it will allow him to fully recover his old before the season resumes.

The 30-year-old reveals that he is three weeks short of gaining full fitness and he is hoping to win his place back in Miguel Gamondi’s team when the league kick off again next month.

The former Supersport United player says he has been working on regaining his pace, sharpness and stamina during the lengthy recess.

The pencil slim Zimbabwe international’s career was said to be ended a collision with Jomo Cosmos goalkeeper Abisai Shiningayamwe during a match 2006/07 season.

He sustained two fractures in his leg and his shin detached at the knee. He has, however, defied the odds and made an almost full recovery.

Luphahla is part of the Stars team that is preparing for the second half of the season in Potchefstroom.

The experienced midfielder, who also had a stint in Cyprus, will be crucial in the Tycoons’ charge to move up from the foot of the table and more particularly in the team’s maiden appearance in the Confederation of African Football Champions League.

Luphahla has participated in Africa’s biggest cup competition in the past with Zimbabwean League runners-up, Highlanders.

Furthermore, he has represented Zimbabwe in two African Nations Cup appearances, and capped one appearance with the winning goal in the Warriors 2-1 victory over Algeria at the 2004 edition in Tunisia.

Ag shame no wonder no one is logging-in to make noise about today's game.Basadakwe yiMTN,but honestly the overrated Itumeleng Khune is useless,as the last person in preventing a goal, how can you spill that ball and allow Radebe to set a goal?that's ameteurish.Yes Pirates my team are fumbling on their side but honestly according to statistics we are better than Chips/Thiefs nabomafikizolo(Sunflower)Again we all know that Chiefs players will always resort to be goalkeepers when the going gets tough. This means now Chiefs have four goalkeepers with three of them being fielded at the same time.Khune failed to handle a shot and that blunder resulted in a goal, why did he not ask Arthur Zwane to show him how it's done. However Tsotetsi came to his rescure and showed Khune how it's done by handling the ball and the ref waved play-on.Dolezar once said you never win against Chiefs cause of the Ref.

Congratulations Swallows. Leal has been doing a fantastic job. I hope the Management will be patient with the coach and take the team back to where it belongs. On the top.

Too the Khune supporters that push the boy. Stop it. I've said it and I will say it again. The boy is good but he is not ready for International football.Yes he has potential but he has so much to learn. Goalkeepers only reach their peak at 30. Khune is not a Casilla's and those pushing for him to be Bafana no.1 are crazy. Fernendez is the best keeper in the country because he has done his apprenticeship under Vonk and Andre for the pass 10 year. Yet we want Khune to be ready for the big time in 1 year. Its crazy and it wrong.

Its a pity that we constantly read about comments that carry no substance regarding Sundowns. This reminds me of Patrice Motsepe words whe he finalised the transaction on taking over Sundowns when he said he wants everyone to talk about this team. This is precisely what's happening.People are talking about Ted,Trott,Motsepe's money and warawara. They are more concerned about our camp.Unfortunately our membership is full,we only need crosstitudes who will comment interlectually about matters of football, not noisemakers who cant even substantiate their facts but only shows jealousy on Motsepe, who is taking soccer to a different level in this Country. My fellow Azanians, lets learn how to appreciate when people are doing good things and stop our jealousy, because that won't improve our standard of living at all.I am sure there are positive commets we can share in this opportunity of chating, unlike mediocre, and childish comments we reading on daily basis. This is Emjay first comment.

hehehehe, the vodacom 3 at the bottom of the log, shapa swaiswai shapa. mushin will regret the day he let radebe go, and now he is paying the price. as for ref, he knows what he was doing yesterday, to avoid the embarassment chiefs was facing yesterday. i am not a kaizer chiefs supporter but some players don't deserve to play for chiefs i.e. mathebula, lebese, masango, nahayo, tsotetsi and as for tshabalala is good when playing for Bafana Bafana. Leal you are the best, i hope the supporters will give you a chance as they did with the devil Hunt and Gorowa who nearly destroyed swallows. Leon Prins where ever you are, you don't deserve to be the chairman or ceo what ever they call you at swallows, you are such a clueless person i have ever seen in my life. You always want to be forced to do something, you are a disgrace to us as the supporters of Moroka swallows. We are loosing our identity because you don't know what you are doing.
