A heavy pre-Christmas South African Premier League fixture list is likely to give Zambian national coach Patrick Phiri a king-size headache.

Phiri is planning to take the Chipolopolo Boys to Germany during December for a week-long training camp ahead of the start of the Ghana 2008 African Cup of Nations that kicks off in Accra on January 20.

According to the programme drafted by the Zambian technical bench, the squad, that is likely to include South African based players, Kennedy Mweene (Free State Stars), Joseph Musonda and Billy Mwanza (Golden Arrows), Songwe Chalwe (Moroka Swallows) and clubless Clifford Mulenga is scheduled to assemble on December 10 ahead of departure for Germany on December 28.

The team would spend a week in Germany before leaving for Togo on January 4 and would wind-up preparations in neighbouring Nigeria before leaving for Ghana on January 19.

Phiri said camping in Germany would help his squad shape up for Africa’s most prestigious tournament, as the Bundasliga League was fast and competitive, however the South African clubs are unlikely to release their players so far ahead of the competition.
