Nigeria Under-20 captain Odion Ighalo has promised a 'different' team when the Flying Eagles play Germany in their second round match on Wednesday.
Nigeria have had a campaign to forget, losing their opening two games to Venezuela and Spain before over-running Tahiti 5-0 and squeaking through to this stage as one of four best third placed teams.
Ighalo, one of the more highly-rated Nigerian players, has had a largely disappointing outing before sitting out the Tahiti win because of a suspension, but now he now says the Flying Eagles have learnt from their mistakes and would be a different team against Germany.
“In the match against Germany Nigerians would see a great Flying Eagles team. We have talked to each other and the technical crew led by chief coach Samson Siasia has told us our mistakes and we have learnt from this and I believe Nigerians would be happy at the end of our encounter with Germany on Wednesday,” Ighalo said before the squad's departure for Suez, venue of the second round match against Germany.
Nigeria dominated possession in all three group games, but only scored against weaklings Tahiti. Ighalo however said those problems had been sorted.
“We have overcome our scoring problem and by the special grace of God we strikers will score goals. But the most important thing is to play as a team and achieve victory at the end of the match."
