Orlando Pirates were held to their second successive draw after a 0-0 stalemate against Free State Stars at Charles Mopeli Stadium.
Stars, who lost coach Valinhos just before the match, almost took the lead as early as the third minute when Mpho Makola forced Moeneeb Josephs into a sharp save.
In fact, Stars had the better of the opening exchanges as Tshegofatso Mashego and Kleinbooi Taaibos also tested Bucs’ goalkeeper, before Makola again shot wide.
Stars were the better team after the break, but it was Pitrates who came closest to scoring – Gert Schalkwyk’s long-range effort being tipped onto the crossbar b y Kennedy Mweene.
It sparked Pirates into action, but they were unable to push on for the three points.
