Usuthu return to winning ways

AmaZulu recorded a long overdue victory following a 2-1 defeat of Moroka Swallows at Chatsworth Stadium.
Two goals either side of the breaks Pere Ariweriyai and Ntokozo Sikhakhane secured the points, though Morgan Shivambu’s late strike ensured some nervy moments.
AmaZulu dominated the early exchanges, with Sibusiso Hadebe, Myron Shongwe and Dumisani Ngwenya all testing Greg Etafia before Ariweriyai’s opener on 45 minutes – a sting drive from the edge of the area after the Swallows goalie had spilled a cross.
It took just 30 seconds of the second half for the hosts to find a second goal – Sikhakhane finishing off a great passing movement when he fired home from just inside the 18 yard box.
Ngwenya should have put the game beyond doubt in the 63rd minute when he was through on goal and only had the Swallows keeper to beat. Etafia, however, did brilliantly, spreading himself wide to deny the Usuthu striker.
AmaZulu, despite being in control for the majority of the match, were made to sweat for the final ten minutes when Morgan Shivambu pulled a goal back for Swallows in the 81st minute.
In the end the AmaZulu defence held out and Neil Tovey’s men earned only their second win of the League season to end a run of four consecutive losses.
