Amajita thumped by Hungary

Amajita thumped by Hungary

Posted: 2009-09-30 20:38

Naïve defending from Amajita has seen the national Under-20 side slump to a 4-0 defeat against Hungary at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Egypt on Wednesday night.

After a strong first half performance in which they were unlucky not to score, Amajita fell apart after the break and allowed the Hungarians to rack up the goals.

Kermit Erasmus and Thulani Serero both had excellent chances to give South Africa the lead in the first period, but lacked composure at the vital point.

Hungary took the lead four minutes into the second half when Simon’s shot was well saved by Ngobeni, but Zsolt Korcsmar reacted quickest to knock home the rebound.

And it was 2-0 just four minutes later when Collen Zulu brought down Marko Futacs and Vladimir Koman converted from the spot.

It went from bad to worse for Amajita as Andras Debreceni had the simplest of headers from a free-kick after he was left all alone by the South African defenders to make the score 3-0 to Hungary.

The humiliation was complete when Adam Presinger curled home a free-kick from inside the penalty-area after Ngobeni was adjudged to have handled a back-pass.

South Africa must now beat Honduras in their group match on Saturday evening to have any chance of reaching the Last 16.

Ball possesion does not win you games.Unneccesary back pass eish...Even BB they gonna loose boma 4 nil nabo next year. The sooner we accept it the better before we get heart attack.

Just like their fathers der in under-42. I can't complain about football since i c dat we South Africans we r only good in Politics than Soccer. Our football bosses r busy fighting each other while our boyz r playin a tournament dat could ensure dat we visit Brazil cum 2014 and da Olympics with a much more ernegetic and youthful side.

I just want 2 ask from above, what did we do 2 deserve such punishment? Please expose da cause of our failure so dat we can deal wit it A.S.A.P.

I'm really hurt by dis.

Marlon: 2009-09-30 21:18

This result is for all those people who say "Attack is the best way to defend". That myth went out the window in the 1980's but in Mzansi we still hold it to be true. Absolute nonsense!

The best way to defend is to actually defend and keep possession of the ball.

Amajita keep your head up! You have 1 game to go, do yourselves and the country proud.

Online: 2009-09-30 22:30

We must just outsource our national teams once and for all.

Xabi : 2009-10-01 01:52

I think it's not dat bad from de Hungary los, bt de boyz can learn from their mistakes en du beter in de next game. But wat I've sin, they r best in SA en dey can 'BEAT' bahana banana.

Chichiboy: 2009-10-01 07:28

at least we hosting a world tournament! Development its a big issue in Mzansi! but this doesnt mean Santana would have done a beautiful job had he had talent in abundance, he just made matters worse. SAFA must do a clean up!

Ganadlha: 2009-10-01 07:39

I said it last week they play too casual.they are coming back home next week monday.well it was a nice tour 4them.they are just like their Brother BB same thing.

Proffesor: 2009-10-01 07:47

I’m waiting to hear from the SA Coach. For me the defence is the worse ever… since in that Africa under 20 Cup. We lost de games cos of weak defence. I had HigH expectations in this tournament that maybe we will WIN it… but the players don’t deliver like always... just reminds me of cricket. Ja many will say we are hush on the young players, but that display izolo and Sunday was not Great at all. Anyway good luck to their third game even if they win… goal difference now is gonna kill dem…. roughly they need 5 goals and hope that the other team do dem a favour like Iraq did for BB in the Confederations Cup.

Papas: 2009-10-01 07:50

Terrible indeed, , the defence is so pathetic, I mean they gave away 2goals in less than 5minutes against UAE, , yesterday they doubled that number in less than 45minutes... but what do we expect? our PSL teams are pathetic when it comes to scoring

General: 2009-10-01 07:56

Bafana Bafana and uder 23 are just all the same (Like Father like son).Die Bokke is only team that makes us proud even if it is rugby but they are the Champions of the World

ALEX: 2009-10-01 08:03

lesson no.1 select best players for each position why leave zongo for left midfield and play righ winger on the left why leave tlou molekwane and play a striker on the right back as for goal keeper i don't blame anyone it was not our day, kurt erasmus must be involved a lot on the play especially on the box good performance by maluleke he is a gem, so is classen, doutie should up his game otherwise hardluck amajita.

Stonza: 2009-10-01 08:18

General this is under 20 not under 23...don't come and show us your stupidity!!!I didn't watch last night's game, but from what I saw from the first game was that we are very poor in defense and I thought the coach was gonna address that immediately... Guys lets not shoot the kids, am sure that they want to win as well!!lets be patriots and support them till the end!!!
Proudly South African!!!!

KaMashobana: 2009-10-01 08:31

I m happy Wonder you are brave enough to point that out. After the the uea game we were lablled names when we said the boyys are /were pathetic. I couuld not beleive the brigate praising a team that gives away a 2-0 cushion in the last 5 min of a game.

The sooner we realise that the psl/FND standard is too low and hence produces poor quality players... da better. We need to work on our development otherwise we will find it difficult to compete with the best in da world.

Siphiwe: 2009-10-01 08:43

I don't care what anybody says we played damn good its just that we were lacking in the goals department and we where missing our captain in the back he really makes a difference!

Scara: 2009-10-01 08:48

can't believe those boys lost by 4-0.

Dumi: 2009-10-01 08:50

Dylon Classen and stephen Pienaar will never win anything as long as they are playing with these Moegoes who keep on complicating soccer and run with the ball the whole ground..

This is becoming a pattern:
Itumeleng Khune costs Bafana games
Thela Ngobeni costs U-20 team games

Someone please explain to me why Cheaps keepers, who leak in more goals than anyone else, should be used by our national teams.

***The boy is too good. He must join Pirates so that Krol will teach three lessons.

Maluleka is a Disgrace. he is too casual.

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2009-10-01 08:56

Hlatswayo and Dlovu?

They must never be selected. They are always leaking at the back.

Serema???????

Agusto Palacious must replce him.

Guys lets understand something, Soccer is not our thing. Rugby, Cricket, Boxing, we have got good legends like babyjake matlala, Dingaan thobela etc. But soccer no, Bafana, always get beaten, Banjana the same, amajita the same, under 23 the same. I am not a prophet of doom. But soccer is not our thing unless if we treat it seriously as a national event we will not go anywhere

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2009-10-01 08:59

hehe

Thela Ngobeni
Thulani Serora
Mandla Masango
Dougtie

Cost us the game.

Here, is it true what I hear, that Kaizer Motaung has fired himself as Chairman of Cheaps? He bankrupts the team and expects someone else to perform miracles? hahaha, Naturena is a comedy zone these days!

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2009-10-01 09:04

Khumalo is too good on the left wing. I dnt know which position was playing b4 Khune was substituted. Big up boy.

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2009-10-01 09:06

Augusto palocious should replace Serema. Teh guy understand young players very well than Serema. I hope Khoza was SAFA president so that he can palocious there. We have got Nematendani, he is puupet confused SAFA president.

Kaizer Chiefs is the single most negative factor in SA futbol. It's to Msanzi what the Great Holocaust was to Germany.

Serero, Doutie, Masango....Simphiwe Tshabalala and others. they think playing soccer is about running with the ball and dribbling the whole pitch. Yes Somewhere in townships, not in international scene. Dylon Classen, Stephen Pienaar, Erasmus, McCarthy and others, they just making this thing look so simple...What are the development coaches teaching these boys...

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2009-10-01 09:22

Only if Kaizer Chiefs fans Change attitude towards our national team, then we will win. They have got negative Attitude towards Pirates players. They dont want Pirates players to represent us. When Amajita loose is Andile Jali, when Bafana Bafana loose is Teko Modise, Benson Mhlongo, Lucas Thwala, Josephs, Mashego, etc. We have to Change oue way of thinking, Bafana will therefore begins to win. N0w with Chiefs fans dividng our national internal, wont take us anywhere. I wonder if Thela Ngobeni, was Senzo Meyiwa, Mandla Masango, was Joseph makhanya, what would they be syaing now, after such heavy loose. Whenever Teko touch the ball, they open their big eye just to find his weaknesses.

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2009-10-01 09:23

Kaizer Chiefs fans are problem in South Africa.

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2009-10-01 09:24

When the national team loose, They Blame Pirates players.

mandla: 2009-10-01 09:24

Typical south african fans dont know the meaning of support. For goodness sake this are kids they are still learning. This boys should be well looked after(I'm glad Kirsten's emphesis 's on development)they should represent us in 2014.We played well but could nt convert our chances, the ref was also against us,He should have gave us a penalty-almost gave all our players a yellow card.
Defensively we were found wanting AGAIN (With the return of our captain and the inclusion of young Xulu the future looks good for the young guns).
...and this is a national crisis even Bafana are struggling in this dept so let us not lambust the boys rather support them.Smax

Dumi: 2009-10-01 09:24

Can i please worship Dylon Classen...Haaaiii this Boy...

Tokollo: 2009-10-01 09:27

Like BB ball possession does not win you game, what Hungary did was simple put the ball inside the net easy like that. SA got talent what we need right people in right positions (administrators) not people who are power hungry the untouchables. 2nd politics need to go away from sports, bcoz politicians are good and talking and not doing anything.

Oyintanda: 2009-10-01 09:42

I have been saying this all along, bring daylon classen to the senior team even if u Bench him he is a marvel to watch even Teko can learn something from this fantastic boy.Anyway the height factor needs to be looked at.All our under 20 players are very short and they cant compete at this level.Scout for tall players and mix them with our short players. Its not a fluke that we have Ndleala,Ak 47,Booth,Gould,Mhlongo,KG etc.and u can see that most of the players I mentioned have height but were never selected at junior teams why? it tells that are scouts are lazy. They rely on Chiefs,Ajax and Pirates junior teams without going to township and villages and serch talent.Example Mthebu who plays for Pierats who was not spotted in the junior team.Something has been wrong with SAFA as the coach has to select players of big teams to please the powerful owners and agents

Proffesor: 2009-10-01 09:43

mandla: This is WAR my friend… FIFA under 20 World Cup… not some useless Tournament… players must have learned from their Teams or SAFA should have organization proper friendly games for the boys… once u wear that BB jessi we as the supporters (the way to put it) want results. Can’t go to a Tournament and tell us that you are going THERE to learn while other Teams are going THERE for the Trophy. This mambo jambo of learning we are tired of it… u learn and pass… not learn and fail… that’s what should have happen if u say we are learning… learn in ur first game… pass in ur second game… third game… u move to another grade….

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2009-10-01 09:53

You seee" Hypocrites"

KaMashobana: 2009-10-01 09:54

Mandla: Were/are "the kids"(Majita) not playing against other kids? U are the kind of a guy who will condone your child/sister/brother coming last in grade 7 because s/he is a kid. Yes you need to encourage but to mention age is just cheap nonsense.

Objective: 2009-10-01 10:09

I fail to understand how Chiefs made the team loose the game.

Gfunk : 2009-10-01 10:35

We threw away our chances on the first game,mr letsoaka u cannotput creative midfilders in claasen and serero in midfield expect them to protect the defence they are gud in attacking so it was going to be hard for the defence to be organised, may be u shud employ jali infront of the defence and put the inefective erasmus on the bench put maluleka upfront supported by serero, masango and doutie as wingers, claasen as the playmaker, as for the defence we look thin, if the captain is back we will be much better.

Gfunk : 2009-10-01 10:50

To all u bucs supporters stop pointig fingers at chiefs players or supporters, it wont benefit us with nothing, lets try and find solutions.we all know which team has underachived.

Fuze 1: 2009-10-01 11:04

The young lads tried their best and it was not their day. There was a huge difference between the game they played against UAE and the one against Hungary. They have a chance to bounce back if they can defeat Hundarus by the same score. Anyway I switched over channels after the 4th goal to watch Stars and Ajax match.

Dumi: 2009-10-01 11:41

Wen u identify the problem and pointing out the main calprits, the topic becomes about race now and not football. Aaii..

Wandile : 2009-10-01 11:53

Seems like the bark of favouritism does not end with Santana but runs down to junior teams.

1.The Wits keeper got three consecutive Man of the Matches awards but is kept on the bench.

2.Ace Bhengu is a striker but is played on right back even though he struggled on the same position in African Championships.

3.Masango and Maluleka were the live wires in attack but were replaced.
4.I forgot that Doutie was in the game until he took a free kick in the dying stages of the game

5.In the second half Erasmus didn't want to play, his body language and continous wayward passes told so.

6.Khwela is on the bench yet together with Serero were the stars in the African Championships.

7.The less said about the exclusion of Zungu and Xulu the better.

TO THE COACH, LETS BUILD THESE BOYS BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL TALENTED. BEWARE OF THE BLATANT FAVOURITISM AS IT KILL OTHERS MORAL AND CONFIDENCE.

SHAPA AMAJITA SHAPA!

Wandile : 2009-10-01 12:13

A win for Amijita and a loss for Hungary will suffice for a secon stage place. This group is full of suprises so I will not count this possibility out.

To the scribers let us rally behind the lads because the cancer that has been eating our soccer for the past decade has been uprooted.

Since the greedy, big bellied, puza faced mafia under their Godfather Oliphant are not at the helm of SAFA I will support every SA team with all I got.
In fact I am going to buy a second SA team jersey Look at all up coming fixtures from under 17 to Banyana Banyana to attend.
If they land at after 5 or at the weekend, go to OR Tambo to welcome back Amajita.

SA simply not good enough yet @ soccer.

Only 2 shots on target for 90 minutes is plainly scandalous and little wonder no goals scored.

Hungary scored 4 from 12 shots and tha law of averages may imply that the next SA shot were it to be on traget may have resulted into goal.

This is simply lack of good coaching fundamentals at the early stages of development for the players.

SA still yet to win 1 game in the history of FIFA WYC.
