Local stars to test Argentina

Ghana’s home based Black Stars will play Argentina later on tonight in Cordoba in a game that has attracted little attention.
Milovan Rajevac travelled to Argentina with 18 players, six of whom played a key part in Ghana’s second place finish at the inaugural Championship of African Nations in Ivory Coast. The Serbian has spoke of his desire to observe a few players who might become useful as he tries to finalise his world cup squad but there are many in Ghana who insist the friendly is unnecessary and claim it will only serve to boost the confidence of the badly bruised Argentina coach Diego Maradona. Many of those Ghanaians remember a 2-8 humiliation at the hands of Brazil when a patched up team just could not deal with the South Americans. Argentina great Diego Maradona, under whose watch the South Americans are struggling in qualifying will be hoping for a lift from a game that Argentina media reports could be played in front a sparse crowd in the 46,000 capacity stadium.
