CAF Champions League campaigners Heartland FC have indicated interest in acquiring the services of Black Star of Liberia striker, Bill Sheriff.

Heartland Media Officer, Cajetan Nkwopara said the Owerri-based side had already extended an invitation to the player to come for trials.

“We expect him here by next week when the technical crew begins the preparation for the new season. He could be one of the new signings for the season if the coaches are satisfied with him,” Nkwopara said.

Sheriff scored Black Star’s lone goal in the 1-6 defeat by Heartland during the CAF Champions League first round second leg game in Monrovia.

He was equally the most outstanding player on his side during the first leg encounter at Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.

Although his side were eliminated in that first round game, Heartland officials found some quality in his game and the player also was delighted in being in the coach Kelechi Emeteole side that would campaign in both the Nigerian Premier League and CAF Champions League for the coming season.

yea, buying players from other African countries and beyond is a welcome development. It will not only improve the competitive spirit of our local clubs but also give the clubs international repute and recognition.
Every club in Naija should try and upgrade the standard of their pitch so as to attract foreign players from the world over.
To my Heartland team, wish u the champions league trophy.Want to see u play at the FIFA world club championship in December.U can do it.Conceive it,Believe it and u will Receive it.

Gentlemen, sorry for the digression - Sone Aluko seems to be having a tough time joining up with his mates in the U20 camp because of his club coach who has been posting flimsy reasons for holding him back. Is there something the NFF can do especially since his name has already been submitted to FIFA?
@jay, scouting for a good quality foreign striker does not necessarily imply that the home groomed strikers are inefficient, rather it helps in making the club more cosmopolitan just like the top clubs in Egypt and Tunisia - where our own Mike Eneramo plies his trade.
