Tella's widow denies begging money

Posted: 2009-09-16 07:27

Mrs Christiana Modupe Tella, widow of late Golden Eaglets' coach Yemi Tella, has expressed total disappointment over a report by a Lagos-based news magazine that she was seen begging for money in the public.

Mrs Tella, a coach with the Lagos State Hockey Association, said the story was fabricated to rub her name and that of the family in the mud, just as she promised that a legal action would be taking against the organisation.

Her words: “I'm going to seek for redress in the court because there was no way I could have stooped that low.

"The reporter was just callous in his reporting of the story. He simply threw the ethics of journalism profession to the wind because he has the belief that he could get away with anything he writes.

“I believe there is a need to correct that impression and I have informed my lawyer about the matter to take the necessary steps as soon as possible. I'm a contented person and there no way I can beg for money in the public.

“I'm a deaconess in the church where my husband was a deacon and I was never at any Islamic function in Ikeja at anytime as stated by the reporter."

Dear Mrs. Tella, make sure you take legal action against this cheap journalist, then donate your proceedings to your favourite charity, also part of your compensation, make him or her print a retract and apology in the same paper used to tarnish you good name.........Alex London

it is so babaric for someone to put up a false story about a widow that her husband did so much to bring hope to our youth football we need to do things that when she remembers the effort of her late husband she will be proud of him and Nigeria

I would wonder why someone will ever think to say this about Modupe, of course everyone knows that this a lie and this liar should be punished by the court of law if found guilty.
