Bafana Bafana coach Joel Santana will hand midfielder Clifford Ngobeni a first international cap when South Africa take on the Republic of Ireland in Limerick on Tuesday night.

The Ajax Cape Town youngster will be part of an experimental, more attacking line-up against the under-strength Irish, who have sent the majority of their big-name players back to their respective clubs.
 
Ngobeni, who has only ever featured in training matches for the national side before, is likely to be joined in the starting line-up by Siyabonga Nkosi and Mabhuti Khenyeza, although Richard Henyekane emerged as a possible starter, probably at the expense of Nkosi at training on Monday afternoon.
 
“It is very exciting, as a youngster you dream of this and so it is a great feeling,” Ngobeni told KickOff.com in Limerick.
 
“I have been injury free since the start of the season, when [Ajax coach] Muhsin [Ertugral] came in and gave me confidence and picked me for the Ajax side. That has made a big difference.”
 
Nkosi could slot in on the right-hand side of midfield, while Parker will more than likely be used wide left again, or even slot in next to Khenyeza up front.
 
Possible Bafana line-up: Rowen Fernandez – Siboniso Gaxa, Aaron Mokoena, Morgan Gould, Tsepo Masilela – Clifford Ngobeni, Bevan Fransman – Siyabonga Nkosi, Steven Pienaar, Bernard Parker – Mabhuti Khenyeza

Teko is not available plus he is very average when up against quality opposition, after all the Confederations Cup proved that.

We can't compete because we only have one player who is at least top class(schillo). The rest are just average, and those who read their own presses, but fail to deliver when it matters. Our 27 year old 'youngsters' agaist 22 year old youngsters like Messi and Cesc. We are gonna be smashed in the the world cup, make no mistake about it. And as a patriotic South African, it hurts to see what is happening with Bafana on their countless and endless learning curves.

the fact that elrio van heerden doesnt make the starting line up is a disgrace...this guy must always prove himself to the technicsal staff...pitso and santana must be ashamed for not appreciating a player of this callibre...i really wish these guys who call themselves football leaders in SA can wake up from this dream they are experiencing....come world cup 2010 it will be too late for them to get the best possible squad...we have the klate's - the joseph's, the cale's - and many others deprived of an oppertunity which they truly deserve....SAFA should really step in and do something !!!!!!

I have only one Questions besides the confed last season who created more goals and scored a lot against canada, Camerron, Australia and others,The same avarage player who you say can not play against good opposition.Everyone has they of day or even tournament for instance Italy are world champs but they we knocked out of the confed 1st round with a star studed team would you say all of them are over rated and are just avarage players??Come on now watch soccer not only your club. As long as my skin is still Black I will always be happy.Once and Always.

It will be a good thing if Satan give Ngobeni a chance. But look we r going nowhere with this coach. We south africans said we need a brazilian coach because our style and technique is similar to theirs,contrary to that psl teams hire coaches from europe. I think our clubs must employ more brazilian coaches to justify our statement. Bafana does not play like brazil,maybe they r trying to play like flamengo.

This is a rubbish starting line up. how can they start Fransman ahead of Mhlongo and KG.

As for Nkosi he only played one Match and was deemed to be good to make a comeback on Bafana.

Should Bafana Lose tonight I will be one of those you will be ganing for Santa's Head.

Tell me Guys, What is the Job of Pitso and Leal. These dudes should also be fired. How come can they keep Quit and let Santana plays a defensive play mode.

Teko had 3 offers from England and also in Holland, Greece and Spain. Khoza and his agent refused

Pienaar does n’t give 100% commitment for BB, But Teko pores his heart out guys, he gives 10,000% commitment.

king you are talking rubbish, teko is an ordinary player like scara ngobese. he intertain with those fancy touches but fail against world class player. you can't compare pienaar with modise. peinaar is best player ever come out of SA after the great doctor khumalo, if you don't believe me ask patric viera he will testify to this. The guy is playing in the epl for crying out loud. what have teko acheived in his career??? and there never offers for teko from big clubs in eurupe, they were from greece, israel and cyprus

Thanks Michael for asking that question coz all of a sudden Teko has become a bad player for just having one bad tournament(Mind you he was Man of the match against Iraq). I find this strange coz before confed he was our trump card when Pienaar deserted us, he created and scored almost all the goals in games against Ghana, Cameroon, Australia, Canada, etc. Now he had a few bad games (like any other superstar from time to time) people start saying he is useless.

If people can scrutinize Teko's form in Bafana they can realise ever since Pienaar came back into the picture Teko is strugling. In my humble opinion we only need one of then in the staring line up. Look at how England do when Gerrard and Lampard are both on the starting line up. Its just a question for you guys the comment on..............

Bafana is attending a University with no Degrees, we are always learning while there's no improvement at all. We must fire the Dean (Santana), even OBE system is better compared to the current learning system of Bafana. I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. Lets donate 2010 to deserving African countries.
