AmaZulu issues apology

AmaZulu issues apology

Posted: 2009-09-02 18:07

AmaZulu Football Club have issued an apology to the Premier Soccer League and MTN following comments made by Team Manager, James Dhlamini, on Metro FM on Tuesday evening.

Commenting on why the majority of the AmaZulu squad and coaching staff did not attend the late Jan Sillo’s funeral on August 23, Dhlamini claimed that MTN refused to postpone the MTN8 second leg semifinal against Golden Arrows and allow AmaZulu to attend the funeral.

He also claimed that the club lodged a request to have the match postponed and the PSL turned this down giving the reason that the sponsors would not permit this.

“The above claims are certainly not true,” said PSL General Manager: Football, Ace Ncobo.

“The utterances from Mr Dhlamini are viewed in serious light by the League and our partners, MTN, and we immediately took the matter up with the Club.”

AmaZulu have since written to the League expressing their sincere apologies to both the PSL and MTN.

It reads as follows:

“It is with deepest regret that the above issue has arisen. We do as a club understand the inaccurate statements made in the media have negatively affected both the PSL and MTN as a sponsor.

We as a club would like to retract all statements made in the media about us having requested the fixture to be moved. This is incorrect. The club did not approach the League or MTN to move this fixture. We were willing to honour this fixture.”

Both the League and MTN accepted the apology.

The fans also accept the apology. Now, it will be interesting to see how Amazulu deals with this muppet.

Coach Mohammed Kiwanuka (076333227): 2009-09-02 18:56

I pick Amazulu for the NFD next season. Not because of this incident but rather for their poor football in the PSL.
Bra Tovey took Hellenic that way in 2004 and it looks eminent that it is gonna happen again.
Time will soon tell.

Sol: 2009-09-03 09:49

Editor, check out this Bhasera report, quite good, why dont you give the guy a chance as your corespondent as he seems to have good writing skills.

It goes to show that certain clubs value a player while still kicking the ball once something bad happens they dont care. This excuse of a club managed by sick individuals have shamed itself and its supporters. The chance was there for them to postphone (Quoted Ace Ngcobo live from Metro fm )and they said no they will honour the player by playing the game, is this how they honoured him, how about the players?how about the coach ? no wonder they were hammered 2-0 they were not ready to play but ready to grieve. As for James to go live and lie in public WOW!! now thats really somethimg.I wonder why is he still employed and PSL must deeply and harshly punish them for insanely unhuman behaviour. They must issue a serious apology to the people if Botshabelo and J.Sillo's family and go back to MVELA!!!

KaMashobana: 2009-09-03 11:46

The family must not allow them (amaZulu) to visit them.Period.

First it was Ajax now Amazulu: why would you prepare yourself to honour a fixture in such a condition: but this manager convinced a lot of fans when he was interviewed by Robert Marawa,,,,funny that were lies....he was basicly protecting Amazulu and now they are exposing the fact that its actually them that undermine the funeral and the service of their player,,,,,that's why I support players to go for more money cos when your services are no longer important they can drop you like a bad habit.....Amazulu are having a lot of problems,,,first it was a controversial passing away of Mkhwanazi, divisions within the players, ,,,Tovey having a beef with u Bafo Biyela,,,,we can't take Shakes to the unprofessional club: rather rot on the stands and enjoy your salary than this,,,,how can you not grief with a family of your team-mate, employee,,,worse a dedicated player,,,,hence they got a hiding from Arrows,,,

Amazulu Management let us down in KZN, as a province of sport and respect. Everything is annoying to say the least. How can a person speak on behalf of the team without having a mandate to do so and speak nonsense. Its pathetic as one gentlement in Bloemfontein put "amazulu are not welcomed here", and you could feel his anger. Unfortunately apology not accepted.

Vusumuzi: 2009-09-12 09:46

I think the PSL and MTN treated AMAZULU FC with kids glove because their statements were dangerous to the sponsors knowing very well the type of supporters AMAZULU FC have. The team has strong bonds to UBuntu Botho. The team should have been heavily fined for defamation and that could have left the sponsors with bad name and decline in sales and decrease in profits and membership. They should have been forced to make an national appology to all newspapers and all soccer media print or technology. I know they cannot fine themselves but James has never been heard making an appology to all candid and devout supporters. It hurts for an African to disregard his roots.

People like Thabang do not deserve to be club or soccer supporters or lovers. Associating AMAULU FC and the animal you mentioned INKATA is disgusting and foolish to the superlative degree. Whatever that animal is it shows how shallow and narrow minded you are in understanding good relations and disassociating with other topics that are threatening and putting peoples lives in danger at times. People like you do rejoice in seeing other humanbeings in distress for being labelled with unknown animals. Come clear bro before we request that you expose yourself.Any way I exonerate you because of your ignorrance and negligence. I do appreciate that you are concerned with the manner the team players were sold out to the Botshabelo and Free State people.James was naive for thinking that this was going to go down well to us.I am angry about the fact that they did not bury Sillo and it hurts me because thina bantu abamnyama sisihlonipha kabi isidumbu somhlobo noma somzalwane wethu ebesiphila naye. We should have respected him that is why the PSL did not even offer him a minute or moment of silence because we also failed to honour that.
