Nigeria submit F Eagles list to FIFA

Posted: 2009-08-31 19:50

Nigeria have submitted a provisional list of 30 players to FIFA for next month's World Youth Championship in Egypt.

That number will be pruned to 21 by September 3 ahead of the start of the tournament.

Leading the group are Monaco's Lukman Haruna, Udinese's Odion Ighalo, Sporting Lisbon's Rabiu Ibrahim and Aberdeen's Sone Aluko.

The squad finally arrived in Mallorca, Spain in the early hours of Monday for the last leg of their training camp ahead of the competition.

This followed a two-day layover in Algeria caused by poor flight arrangements, which saw the team travel through Qatar and Algeria before arriving in the Spanish city.

Fortunately for the team, there will be no such troubles when they leave for Egypt on September 17, as FIFA will take up the flight arrangements from Barcelona to Cairo.

In the provisional list of 30 are: Oladele Ajiboye, Uche Okafor, Olateru Oladapo, Oluwasina Abe, Alexander Nkume, Rabiu Ibrahim, Kehinde Fatai, Yakubu Alfa, Lukman Haruna, Macauley Chrisantus, Ikande Harmony, Nnamdi Oduamadi, Daniel Adejo, Odion Ighalo, Ibok Edet, Stanley Ohawuchi, Emmanuel Sunday, Kayode Fagbola, Omatsone Aluko, Raheem Lawal, Obiora Nwankwo, Ikechukwu Nworuh, Nurudeen Orelesi, King Osanga, Ganiyu Oseni, Gbolahan Salami, Muhammed Shagari, Danny Uchechi and Frank Temile.

Nigeria are in Group B at the finals with Spain, Venezuela and Tahiti.

It should be spelt out clearly to Siasia that he should not use as an excuse, the incompetence of the NFF for poor delivery. As far as I'm concerned, Siasia's programme has not been messed up yet. If really the NFF is a clog in his wheel of progress then he should honourably resign NOW than to give excuses later. He might not be excused by Nigerians if his deliveries do not meet esteemed expectations.

Billion: 2009-08-31 20:13

I wonder which 7 players will be dropped from this list! They are individually good. Sure siasia will have to work alot on blending & in developing a fluidity in team play. I wish this team all the best as they'll form the bulk of our next generation SE while siasia transforms to be the next SE coach in 2014.

Toluwase: 2009-08-31 21:05

I saw Sone Aluko playing against Republic of Ireland during Nig. vs Ire. match in London. I think is ok to make the final list. Or what do u think guys?

Siasia must not have to submit his list by September 3!!!. If they just arrived in Spain today, August 31, how can he raise the already damaged moral, check for fitness, run drills and tecnical approach or game simulations before picking his team.

This trip to Spain is already doomed. Instead of arriving August 20, he now has 3DAYS TO DO WHAT HE PLANNED TO DO IN 14. Thanks NFF. @ the moron whose user name starts withB I wont even give you the pleasure of calling you out, but will you book your own flight and accept a two -day lay over in an airport

sly1: 2009-08-31 21:16

Ithink you should resign from this forum. Enough of your crap already.
@Mike 1, did you notice that Kingsley UDOH is missing in this list

quadry: 2009-08-31 21:30

TO hell with those who says soccar has no future in nigeria!!! our future is bright men, with all this player.
BUT THE PROBLEM IS THAT CAN THEY PLAY TOGETHER?
SINCE Lukman Haruna IS NOT THE CAPTAIN ANYMORE WHO IS THE NEW CAPTAIN?
AND CAN ALL THIS BIG PLAYERS EGO'S WORK TOGETHER?

Billion: 2009-08-31 21:34

@sly1 thanks for ur comments..:)
Kingsley Udoh is missing on the list but there are a total of 29 players by KON. Kingsley Udoh makes them 30.

muhammed: 2009-08-31 22:14

muhammed: 2009-08-31 22:17

Doyin: 2009-09-01 02:26

I don`t want to believe this is the same adorable and impeccable @Billion.If it is then I have confirmed once again that Everything in life changes except CHANGE itself.
Sly,longest time!!!.
I bet if 2 of these NFF guys were to follow the team, believe me,they would have perfected the travelling arrangement and the team would have gotten to Spain in less than 12hrs after departure.Several Gbosas for NFF!!!

Wole: 2009-09-01 02:57

I think it's just high time we ignored that son of a gun called Billion. He is entitled to his opinion. This is a public forum and he can say whatever he likes. We aught to have learnt not to be provoked by his stupid and senseless comments anymoore. He thrives in chaos and most of all, he is a layabout, alainise.

waooo!!! siasia want to use old old papa uche okafor [ just a joke].@ Billion, no comment reasonable people than you have answered you.@ ultraNigeria, i cant but commend you, you spoke the mind of millions Nigerians.this team looks good, lets wait and see what will happen in WC. I know there are some people that will be praying for the team to fail, but there prayers will not be answered.

jon: 2009-09-01 05:59

I am sure we can beat Tahiti and Spain if we work hard and remain steadfast to a patriotic descipline. As for Venezuela, boy o boy, we might need luck, this team remains quite impressive and formidable. Besides, Nigeria by historical record have a hard time with South American teams.

sly1: 2009-09-01 07:30

Greetins to my brothers, Doyin, Wole and Moneyman. So well writen, Moneyman. I just have a question for the NFF are they not ashamed of being the only FA in Africa who seem to find it too dificult to handle travel arrangements? If it is not VISA issues, it is passport or arranging cconnecting flights. Sometimes players havevto treaten these thieves before they reimburse them for travel expenses. We dont want to go into match bonus PALAVA. NFF why dont you guys just do us a favour= RESIGN ALL OF YOU or just drop dead and die...period.

Benito: 2009-09-01 11:20

Football administration is not meant for politicians without football playing experience. Nigeria has never been democratic in any sense. All over the world, football matter is left to ex players and prople with sports knowledge either by virtue of studies or by participation. NFF is a crying shame. Iberia is a spanish airline that flies from nigeria. It takes six hours to Madrid. I have flown with it several times it is direct and less expensive. Even if it is completely booked out at the time of reservation, I see no reason why NFF could not use Lufthansa or KLM. These airlines fly out of lagos daily with several empty seats. I might not have the full story of why the team will have to spend two days in Algeria but one thing is certain. We need a change in the area of our football administration. We need dynamic intelligent indivituals such as I will not mention.
The bible said and I quote "woe to a nation if its king is a babe" The word babe there is from a Greek word Nepios meaning unskilled, untrained, one unable to represent. That is the definition of the NFF.
I rest my case. NFF enough is enough, Nigerians deserve respect. Learn from other countries.

WHY EVERY TIME U LEAVE YOU PRIMITIVE GHANAIAN TO COME HERE TO MINGLE WITH US. WE ARE PROUD TO BE NIGERIANS. YOU ALWAYS COME HERE TO TALK NEGATIVE WORDS ON OUR FORUM. YOU SPOKE THIS SAME NEGATIVE WORDS UNTIL YOUR FORUM BECAME A GRAVE SITE WHERE NO ONE CAN VISIT NO MORE. YOU WILL NOT SPEAK NEGATIVE WORDS HERE AGAIN AFTER TODAY BECAUSE EACH TIME U DO IT; IT WILL BOOMIRANG ON BLACK STAR, YOUR HEAD AND THE SUFFERING GHANA. WHAT ARE U DOING IN NIGERIA? MY BELOVED COUNTRY?
PLZ SEND HIM AWAY.

LET HIM GO BACK TO GHANA. IF AT ALL HE HAS SPACE IN GHANA TO STAY.

shade85: 2009-09-01 17:52

i think kabiru akinsola should have been included in the final list, he would be a good addition to the squad, and besides he play regularly for his clubside salamanca in the spanish second division, plus he was among the goal scorer over the past weekend. Other than that i think the squad is pretty much capable to bring home the throphy to their happy fans and supporters.

quadry: 2009-09-01 18:21

@richie and co!!
since we can stop you boys from posting here, please dont post negative comment here because me and some of my fellow nigerian brothers are fasting (ramadan kareem)..and it will be gratefull if u can be positive ...thank you.

jon: 2009-09-01 23:48

@419ner, vice makes virtue look arcane. If anything Nigerian was so deplorable to Ghanians why the imitation on any level? Why bother with our site? The truth is you Ghanians seek Nigerian leadership in all works of life since you miserable people are unable to think for yourselves. Some are born to be bourgeois and others like the GHANIANS the proletariat.

Adedamola: 2009-09-02 00:20

I see Nigeria winning the Egypt'09 U-20 world cup base on the set of players Siasia is taking to the tournament. If they can play as a team they will make history in Egypt.
