Teko out of Bafana team

Teko out of Bafana team

Posted: 2009-08-31 16:00

KickOff.com earlier reported that MacBeth Sibaya and Bryce Moon have pulled out of the Bafana Bafana team, and now we can further reveal that the squad has been further weakened by the withdrawal of Teko Modise.

Modise’s Pirates teammate Katlego Mashego reveals to KickOff.com that he’s the man who has taken Modise’s place.

“I think the team is leaving tonight and I will join them on Wednesday in Germany. Teko is has a swollen toe. So I have received a late call-up to the squad,” Mashego says.

Lance Davids and Clifford Ngobeni have replaced Sibaya and Moon.

Bafana’s first game overseas will be against Germany on Saturday in Leverkusen.

HAVE YOUR SAY: Who should replace Teko in the starting XI?

Tiyani wa ka Mabasa

scary sh*****

our fifa ranking is going to drop to 129

Da analyst : 2009-08-31 16:11

Where are they taking mashego? So he can embarass us again? Surely franklin cale deservd a chance.

BrokeFan: 2009-08-31 16:12

If the Germans win, they should not take pride in the victory. We played our weak team. Eish...

Thulani : 2009-08-31 16:15

i stand to be corrected people but shoudnt we have replaced Teko with a creative midfielder like Josta. We have enough strikers in that team.Nevertheless prove us wrong Mahoota just like Mphela.up da bucs.

BrokeFan: 2009-08-31 16:17

Da ****yst

Now u are talking. Cale has bad luck. That guy can play man. He has the strength, the height, the skill and IQ needed to be a star. He is a type of a player that can do the nation proud. He deserves to play for Chiefs.

SIBUSISO: 2009-08-31 16:17

Danm, gonna be tough a bit

Jao: 2009-08-31 16:20

Thanx hes USELESS, actually they r both USELESS
he n Mashego

BrokeFan: 2009-08-31 16:21

Thulani : 2009-08-31 16:15

If Josta, wasn't playing for Chiefs, he would have long cemented his place in Bafana. Just like Nale, they are only calling him now to ease their guilty conscience. He will not even feature in the line-up.

mthuli: 2009-08-31 16:21

The criteria of selecting Bafana Bafana players is confusing.Instead of going up, BB are going down. The latest three replacement players have not been selected on merit.Among other players, Franclyn Cale deserves a place in the squad, not these latest three players.

Dallas : 2009-08-31 16:25

Should not be replaced, uyaboza too much!

BrokeFan: 2009-08-31 16:26

I mentioned a 2 weeks ago that my team was playing the Germans. They gave us a serious hidding. I remember we were 5 goals behind and one German missed a goal scoring opportunity and the rest of the team were seriously angry at him. Those guys play to score. It is their culture to do so. What's Bafana's culture?

skye: 2009-08-31 16:27

please look out on the next fifa ranking

i am sure that Step Blatter is just embarrsd with our national team

germany our powerful giants and they are going to just destroy us with aerial ***** and dot dot ....2 b continued

Nama : 2009-08-31 16:27

Da ****ist and Broken fan.- u r all crazy. Mahoota is fine to replace Teko. Phela we r talking of winning metality. That guy has it. Yebo the player u want is good. Infect all the players in Mzansi r good but coach is the one who chooses the team. So even if he select Nhleko.. Ndlela it okay. Their r players and deserve to play for Mzansi. The selected team 'll win. Take my word

Marlon: 2009-08-31 16:28

Hi guys, Im back. Hard luck for Teko. Get well soon. Strangely I feel this is a good test for Bafana. We rely very strongly on Booth,Teko,Sibaya and especially Pienaar. I feel this is a good opportunity for the other other players to stepup. We have the players, so lets support the team. Go Bafana!

Proffessor : 2009-08-31 16:29

Mbazo must be next in the list

pipizela: 2009-08-31 16:30

this is teko's begging of his end
why mashego
hartley was true
im convinced that cale deserved a call up
even mbuyane is far better that mashego
by the way the guy is from a muti rich area called bushbuckridge

Proffessor : 2009-08-31 16:38

Hartley must give prove b4 we believe him – I don’t buy whatever he says… for now its just speculations

Charles: 2009-08-31 16:38

KG signs for Fulham and Teko still the **** in PSL, Soccer is cruel, now this

Proffessor : 2009-08-31 16:39

Katlego Mashego to replace teko... hmmmm

BrokeFan: 2009-08-31 16:40

Proffessor : 2009-08-31 16:29

hehehe Prof u will never learn. Wonder is coming 4 u...

Guyz don't get me wrong I m fully behinf Bafana but the Germans...I know how it feels like to play that nation. They like scoring goals hence they like playing long *****. They are fast and Bafana need a serious plan to beat them. Do not try to match their pace...Man 2 Man won't work against these guys. This is a game Santana is allowed to use 3 defensive midfielders an try to catch them on counter....

Charles: 2009-08-31 16:41

KG signs for Fulham and Teko still doing the **** in PSL, Soccer is cruel, now this

BrokeFan: 2009-08-31 16:42

There is a video on Hartley in yotube "Hartley the Wizard" u can check it out.

Fafalaza: 2009-08-31 16:44

Perhaps the Bafana selectors are watching PSL games lately. They surely noted that the first two of Mbuyane's goals were created by Mashego!

Proffessor : 2009-08-31 16:47

The problem with Teko was that – they say he won’t get action if he signs for any team in Europe. What does that tell you ke about him?

Mhooo : 2009-08-31 16:47

Good that Modise is out!!

Proffessor : 2009-08-31 16:49

BrokeFan: Hartley said in that Robert Marawa show that his daddy takes care of him. Fan my man, how old is that boy? hehehehe

Charles: 2009-08-31 16:53

That is not true, Teko can bench any player anywhere in the world. Stevie G included.

Chillz : 2009-08-31 16:54

Dikrang mabalane o andile jali nt mashego

Proffessor : 2009-08-31 16:56

Charles: r u smokin marijuana since ur Boss went home at 4pm? hehehe

The Mountain: 2009-08-31 17:17

I am just worried about the bafana team and it shows no consistency and I pray that people don't have heart attack next year. Let us brace ourselves for another humiliating defeat that will be praised after the game as improvement. Mamadu is really making sense and we will have to swallow our pride and admit that the coach has no plan. The players are there in the league but politics kill the winning spirit that the country once Had.

Stapura : 2009-08-31 17:19

Ther is sum form of discrimination against frank cale .the clrd comunity must toy toy immediately

Charles: 2009-08-31 17:20

Bafana's Prof u still feel the hangover of weekend passover over Cosmos, i can't believe dog that since these forum was launched and u debuted u still doing the s@@t. Keep it up.

Charles: 2009-08-31 17:22

Everybody in these column think he is the Coach. Cale this, Klate that, ag palookas keep quite. can't we support selected players. Siphiwe scored two goals for Chies from injury what the heck

Touch : 2009-08-31 17:38

Mahoota iz a gud replacement bt wat mst Cale do 2 get a call-up?

thomas: 2009-08-31 17:53

i think this is the big blow for bafana, first it was khune, sibaya, moon now our key player modise is out i forsee another defeat for bafana, and its the chance for other players to show us that they deserve to waer bafana je****y

Kerry t : 2009-08-31 17:55

Listen guys i dnt hv a prob bwt who is replacing who the only prob i hv is franklin cale nd daine klate deserve a chance 2 prove themselves

Two : 2009-08-31 18:03

You deserve this rest Teko. You've been destroying opponents on those flanks for too long at Pirates and Bafana. Take it easy during this layoff. Shapa Bhakaniya Shapa!

Fish6 : 2009-08-31 18:30

Who is teko modise?wat has he achieved 4 bafanax2 dat we are concerned abt who replaces him?anyway, dis wud hv bn a great opportunity 2 introduce promising players lyk Serero...bt i wont attack Joel Satane,Mamadou wil do it on behalf of all diplomatic people lyk myself...

Ndumiso : 2009-08-31 18:52

With the world cup drawing nearer and the youth championships in Egypt, we have to give those youngsters a chance to be with the national team just to groom them for top class football. Not to specify a name or game time but the experience will be valuable

Let Satan to go to hell, how can he overlook players like Cale and Klate.Bafana is a joke, they are going to be hammered in those friendly games.

Khuks : 2009-08-31 19:46

It is a big blow 2 lose teko

Katlego mashego : 2009-08-31 20:11

Mashego is more effective and he can play the ball, his movement off the ball is so amazing,he can tackle, overall santana should not defend,he must play attacking players

Mr Matwetwe: 2009-08-31 20:20

Sibaya & Modise injured, now this is a blessing in disguise, we will finally be forced to use 1 gneral instead 2 in the middlefield & with the inclusion of Mashego I'm expecting a 2 striker based system, no more using the inexperianced Parker as the targetman. Mashego plays the role of a supporting striker so well that he created twoi goals for Mbuyane last Satarday, I think this is the match where he will finally regain his form, cause we all knon that an on form Mashego can destroy any team. Its finally time that the technical tam stop hiding behind Modise & do there job. Mashego will create a lot of space for Parker, he can even gel very well with shabbas close ball cotroll abilities of the left. Mashego will either create a goal or he will score himself.

Sibya & KG are involved in approximatly 80% of the goals we conceded, I also know for a fact both Sibaya & KG were involved in the 3 goals we conceded against Serbia, its finally time we drop Sibya & focus on the Mhlongo & KG combination. Mhlongos sublime defensive middle fielder qualities were demonstrated in the Brazil match where we only conceded 1 goal as compared to all the other matches against Spain where Sibaya & KG were playing.

It makes perfact sense why Cale & Kleite are not chosen for the national team. In SA we are suffering from a BIG mismatch of philosophies in development academies. Chiefs & Pirates use the mutch more localized phiulosophies, but SSU uses Englands methods & AJAX uses HOLLANDS method, which means you will have Modise(localized), Shaba(localized), Cale(Holland) & Kleite(England). Yes football is a universal language but its generalized into many different philosophies. Using players from different philosophies requires a lot of time for the players to gel, so its more applicable to a club cause the individual players will spend a great deal of time together at training, but in a national team situation results are critical & the team does not have mutch time to gel. if you look at the top 4 team almost all pleyars were developed in that country, eg Spain,Italia,Brazil,Germany. Anderson was developed in Potugal hance even if he plays for Man United he still does not make the Brazils first team. This mismatch of philosophies was very evident in the confed cup, as Modise & Pienaar devided the team into 2, making it hard for use to attack with a disjointed offensive pettern. Pienaar likes destributing the ball vertically & Modise liked destribution horizontally to help the team open up the spaces in defence. I saw many wasted ***** because Pienaar & Modise just dont understand one another, they used to play well together when Benni was used as a catalyst. It also makes perfact sense why Benni is the perfact catalyst cause he Played at Potugal & England

Now I 'm starting to believe we stand a chance..."I know the goals wil come because that comes naturally for me.” Benni McCarthy

Ashraf: 2009-08-31 21:47

Hooray...now Bafana actually have a chance of winning. What has the Navigator been navigating...only 4 goals in Con Fed Cup, and none came from his assists. Surely Cale would do a much better job than Teko. Same goes for Gaxa, how he can be picked over Moon...I fail to grasp...Atleast with The Navigator with the wrong compass out, we actaully stand a chance against Germany & Ireland, Oh my, I;m actually looking forward to the games, for once! ! !

rabhela: 2009-09-01 00:10

I am just glad this mediocre player called teko is out with a swollen toe,i hope that swollen toe and swollen ego will result in him not be called ever to Bafana, just like all SA players he is a one season wonder, who is being promoted by his boss Irvin, remember that "COW" benedict Vilakazi the age cheater, how he constantly featured on Bafana but had nothing concrete to show us he desrved to be there.
I cant wait for the SAFA presidential elelection to be done and we have a new president I wish it Dr Danny Jordan and maybe then our soccer will go somewhre glorious.

Issah : 2009-09-01 00:46

I think benedict vilakazi should be the one 2 replace modise's place. Bcoz vilakazi's passes is so capable 2 the strikers 2 finished into da net. Athough even modise's there, santana might find a vilakazi's position in bafana squard.

Edwin: 2009-09-01 07:42

Are we south african so heartles and ruthless, a national team player has injury, instead of wishing him speedy recovery we attack him as if he was not going to represent ourselves, the things is I have realised that we are so jealous of Teko quick sucess in his career, instead of uplifting we shoot him down, typical of us africans unappreciative, if Teko he is good and you dont like the fact that is good keep comment to yourself, pound to pound is there any player in south africa who can match Teko? Teko I wish you speed recovery Bafana and Country needs you.

Thas Man: 2009-09-01 07:46

Santana!! Santana!!! satan you want to tell me that you don't see the service of Abia "Pilis" Nale those two Skeletons are useless

Thas Man: 2009-09-01 07:57

To Edwin

i individually accept that Teko is a best player currently but "i said but" the attitude he posses in the team is kak for e.g the goal that was scored by Mhlongo what did Teko do celebrate as if he is the one who scored the goal, yes he must celebrate but not in that manner, the guy is he can have the attitude of Athur Zwane in a field of play he can go far than where he is i repeat the attitude of Athur Zwane

sthabiso: 2009-09-01 08:06

Without Teko we are doomed. All hail King Modise!!! I wish you a speedy recovery. Now its tym 4 haters 2 c dat u r the chosen 1 to lead us to greater things. All hail King Modise!!!

KING: 2009-09-01 08:50

Hi guys.

I think all of u are not reading between the lines here.

Teko and Sibaya are not injured, SAFA is trying to sabotage Santana, they don’t
Believe in the guy anymore, results have proven that the guy is actually clueless.
Hence they are pushing him to fail.

Mark my words. Bafana Bafana will be coached by SA coach come 2010

Brandon : 2009-09-01 09:01

Mark Haskins and Josta Dladla certainly have the creativity and either of the two would have been a much better option then Mashego

Oyintanda: 2009-09-01 11:51

For the sake of progress in our National team,I hope Teko stay injured till after 2010.He is so selfish in the National team that i watched in the last match how Pinaar attacked the space several times only for Teko not to pass the ball to him and the opposition managed to regroup. I heard PieRats surporters wishing Captain Seama to stay injured till the end of this season and I hope that should be applicable in this case too

MACARINA: 2009-09-01 11:56

BALA MABALANE THE TERMINATOR

Mgcini: 2009-09-01 15:15

Teko is not injured pirates are being tactical becoz they dont have to casualities while they are at the prime of their game so they dont want problems and after all its a friendly games for Bafana i bet that the next league game he is going to be there

James: 2009-09-01 15:33

Brandon, you know soccer that is for sure! I will call for Haskins anytime before any of the so called big team players! this boy has proved himself over and over and over again but only God knows why they choose to ignore him, I miss watching him at Swallows, he is really quality, his ball sense is sharp, and not only can he run with a ball but he can distribute passes accurately and score goals!!!!
