Ajax Cape Town coach Muhsin Ertugral is looking forward to an exciting MTN8 Final between his club and Golden Arrows which is set for next month at a venue still to be announced.
Ajax qualified for the Final after they drew 3-3 with Kaizer Chiefs but won 4-3 on aggregate in Soweto yesterday whilst Arrows made their own history to reach a Cup Final for the first time in their PSL campaign by beating AmaZulu 2-0 (4-1 on aggregate) in Durban on Saturday.
Speaking to KickOff.com after his charges produced excellent and exciting football against Amakhosi; Ertugral says his side deserves to be in the Final.
“This was our game and we should have finished it off in the first half but we missed a penalty and Seroro should have put one in the back of the net but missed with only keeper to beat.
“I am proud of the way my boys showed great character, playing away form home but came back with such a good result. Kaizer Chiefs also proved with their performance they are a great side and I am very happy that both teams dished out quality football which was enjoyed by spectators.
“Our focus now will be on our opponents in the Final. It’s going to be a great Final between us and Arrows. They have a great coach, they play organized nice football. This should be one of the most exciting Finals.”
The Urban Warriors mentor also explained the reason for taking off Clayton Daniels at the start of second half and replacing him with Thulani Hlatswayo.
“After his mistake which contributed to the goal in the first half I could see he was struggling to focus. I brought in the youngster (Hlatswayo) and I think he did a fantastic job for us in defence.”
Meanwhile Ajax CEO George Comitis assures his players they will pocket R4 million if they beat Golden Arrows in the MTN8 Final.
Speaking to KickOff.com after the game on Sunday, Comitis congratulated MTN for sponsoring Arrows and his club and that they were now facing each other in the MTN8 Final.
“The game between us and Chiefs was a great advert for football. For our youngsters to play under such pressure and a big crowd showed fantastic character.
“As sponsors of both Ajax and Arrows, MTN could not have asked for a better Final, playing for the R8 million prize money.
“We will keep with our policy of giving our players half of the prize money if they win the Final,” says Comitis.
