Player transfers being probed

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has launched a probe into transfers of players to clubs in South Africa and Mozambique.
FAM has summoned Escom United officials explain the club’s failure to follow player transfer procedures involving Jacob Ngwira, who will be joining Carara Kicks, and Peter Wadabwa, who is heading for Thanda Royal Zulu.
The summons comes after Escom wrote to FAM requesting International Transfer Certificates for the two players.
The country’s governing body discloses that the club has also failed to pay 10 percent levy from transfer deals for Chiukepo Mosowoya and former FC AK player Chikondi Likwemba to Mozambican clubs.
“What we are saying is that we are not releasing any International Transfer Certificate for Escom players until we sort out these issues,” FAM CEO Charles Nyirenda says in a report in the Malawi Daily Times.
Escom chairman Fanuel Nkhono says they have been unable to pay Likwemba’s levy as FC AK “still owes us R100 000 for the player”.
“How would we pay the 10 percent when we have not yet collected the money?”
