Erasmus scores on debut

Posted: 8 August 2009 Time: 10:52

Kermit Erasmus got his Dutch season off with a bang as he netted a late equaliser for Excelsior Rotterdam in their 2-2 draw with Telster.

Erasmus is on a season-long loan at the second division side from Feyenoord, and will be hoping he has won his new fans over with the goal – scored unusually for him with his head.   However, it was the last of four good chances for the South African Under-20 international, so perhaps there will be a little bit of relief at finally having found the back of the net too.   “I am certainly happy with the goal, I don’t score many with my head!” Erasmus said. “I thought we played some good football and we should be happy with the 2-2 scoreline because for a long time it looked as though we would not equalise.”   Furdjel Narsingh gave Telstar the lead towards the end of the first half, before Frank Korpershoek made it 2-0 after the break. It took until the 70th minute for Excelsior to pull a goal back when Ryan Koolwijk netted, before Eramus found the equaliser with two minutes to play.
