Orlando Pirates have invited Bloemfontein Celtic’s Mzondi Mthombeni to help ease their problems at left-back.
Bucs struggled in the position last season due to Innocent Mdledle’s injury woes, with Lucky Lekgwathi often being asked to fill the void.
Coach Ruud Krol is clearly determined to avoid a repeat situation and has now asked Mthombeni to show what he is capable of.
Celtic CEO Ikie Augousti confirms the move, saying: “He left with our permission and Pirates are currently assessing him.”
Augousti adds that they have not given up on signed Pirates midfielder Lindokuhle Mkhwanazi, saying: “We have put down the offer and still waiting for Pirates.”
