Obafemi Martins is having a medical at Bundesliga club Wolfsburg on Friday morning.

The Nigeria forward and his representatives were locked in negotiations with the German champions for most of Thursday and although the discussions are continuing, an agreement is said to be 'close'.   Newcastle agreed a 10.5 Euro fee with the German club on Wednesday night and the forward flew out the next day to Germany.   When concluded, the deal will see Martins return to playing Champions League football.

Is Martins move to Wolfsburg good for him and Nigeria? Time will tell. He has an opportunity of playing in the CL but will he play regularly? It is good to dream big but it is better to have realistic dreams. The forum is generally congratulating Martins which means this move is seen as good for him and the SE. I hope his agents will work out a good deal for him not just monetarily but also in having enough playing time as well. From the look of things Martins is going to be third in the pecking order of strikers in this club. Is this arrangement going to be good for Nigeria. I hope he will not earn the "TITLE OF BENCH WARMER" in a few weeks time. BRAVO to Martins and Wolfsburg!

I think Oba is going start as the number three first. This move should actually be a chance for him to push up his career again!! I hate negative thinking but i have to admit that i am afraid of him geting used to the german system. I really hope he gets back in form.

@MARVEL, without any doubt in my spirit this move will definitely be in favor of both OBA and Nigeria football.

OBA has the strenght and ability to break into the first team, though it wont be easy because there are about three good stricker there already but OBA made history when in Millan, so making it again wont be all that difficult.

Once again, Congrat to OBA for this fatastic move, we are happy that our own is progressing.

Thanks
Daniel

nigeria football is not that bad as people said, example when we played ghana in acn 2008 we played well until mensah was sent off, while against ivory coast until they scored. look at this team for example
defense
adefemi,odiah,yobo,adeleye,udoh,taiwo,echijile,apam

midfield
ekpo,lukman,ibrahim,mikel,k.uche,ayila,joel obi

forward,
martins,uche,obasi,obinna,odemwingie,salami,chrisantus

so if you put in either ekpo, lukman and ibrahim
then i think our midfield is good as anybody midfield in africa.for attack we have the best, while defense we are good as anybody. i have come to conclusion that with this team an average nigerian like me put here we could be succesful just that we are not sure amodu have any sence
The word.

Wolfsburg will not spent 10.5m on player and expect him to seat on the bench. I do not think those strikers will get more than that. Martins might not get regular shirt but he will play often more than when he was in NC.

the only reason he was not playing that much for nc was because he was injured!!! and when the tough times came for nc he wasnt fit...
