Masango - We don't show respect

Masango - We don't show respect

Posted: 2009-07-27 12:33

Mandla Masango tells KickOff.com that one of the reasons Kaizer Chiefs managed to beat Manchester City in the Vodacom Challenge Final on Saturday is that they didn’t show the English Premiership side any respect.

Man City are regarded as the wealthiest club in the world after a takeover by an Abu Dhabi United Group in September last year. Masango, however, says that didn’t concern the Amakhosi players.

“We didn’t care how much they earn and stuff like that. All that mattered to us was that we didn’t have to respect them on the field. Yes, when we were outside the field we respected the fact that they have some big names.

“But we are all equal on the field and that’s exactly how we approached the game,” says the Chiefs’ youngster.

Chiefs’ 1-0 win made it five Vodacom Challenge titles for the Phefeni Glamour Boys out of the 10 tournaments in all since 1999.

He is good indeed. I wish he can carry on with this kind of play and attitude. He is SA's next big thing.

Proff, what's happening in Mamelodi Circus?

Papas: 2009-07-27 12:46

Masango you should have added that let that be warning to the Khenyeza's & Teko's of this world.... one thing that we dont undestand is that having 60players doesn't mean that these shortest season will be good for you, as you can only play 14players in any given day, if you have terrible players on the bench or you do wrong substitutions u r bound to fail.... Congrats Masango,it is your time to use the opportunity that they gives you, dont be like Thuso Phala.

The Game: 2009-07-27 12:57

Mandla Masango has been on the PSL League for sumtym pliz guys don't get too much excited about the pre-season tournament,,,Pirates won the Charity Cup...Senzo got so much excited that he made silly mistakes that cost his team a Premiership along the way...Supersports didn't win any pre-season tournament but went on to claim the title back to back,,they don even play in the Vodacom nor the Charity mind you,,, same goes to Ajax who beat the Bucs (one of the best 2008/2009 PSL team),,,so you figure out: the question is, do you really conclude while you haven't even started the race,,,,come on guys do you really have to fall 1000 times for one and the same thing over and over....For me it will hit the fan after 15 games in the league,,,,but we can't undermine the fighting spirit, and the confidence that winning brings in the camps....

By the way Amazulu, Celtics are amongst the 2009/2010 Champions,,,

Proffesor: 2009-07-27 13:07

The Game: I have to disagree with you there my brother… SuperSport and Ajax did play in pre-season tournaments… like this season as well. The problem is that these tournaments are not advertised well and we don’t see them on TV (ad).

For example when Generations or the News are playing… we should see an ad about these tournaments like Vodacom and Telkom. If you don’t really follow soccer… u wont know about these tours… u will hear from people or read about them in newspapers after they’ve been played.

The Cup that Celtic won this weekend… most people don’t know about it… lank of marketing my friend. Look at what almost happen to the Confederations Cup… lank of marketing as well.

Masango was just being positive and surely you can’t blame him. Winning always brings excitement.

U have gone through leaps and bounces boy.U know play with confidence.U remind me more of Standton Fridricks when he was still at Khosi.Keep your head up and continue working hard it will pay of.

The Game even though he has been in the PSL for a will now he has certainly matured as a player. The likes of Modise and your very own Vilakazi have matured at a very late stage.Luckily for Masango age is still on his side.Look at Modise he is brillent player who will never make Europe because of age.Same goes for Vilakazi he never made the cut.

I mean MAsango is in the same class of Kurt,Zongo,Khune,Jali etc.

*there is price money, the reason for that suggestion from Kaizer was not to have a long season as chiefs have already played six games so far

Just cos sundowns did not do well from that game they played does not mean they are useless to make you come out to attack Mandla.

So what you are telling us is that, all the big guns from Man. City did not perform according to their standards and surely they reported to you.

Mmmmm, I think you are jelous man

2. Remember the "terrible twins"? Pre-season tournaments are hardly the barometer of form.
3. No, it's all for charity. U undastand that, don't you?
4. Stop being so defensive. Does Kaizer share his wealth with you? No? My point exactly.
5. Jeffrey Ntuka, Isaacs, Yende, etc. Check, they were all signed while injured.
So I am right. Stop playing with the big dogs if you piss like a poodle....

Guys I think Kaizer Cheaps have won enough this season: Eastern Cape Mayor Cup and Vodacom Challenge! Even if they don't win anything for the next 5 seasons, this was quite an achievement! Plus they beat a team from England, wow!!!
Reality Check: Pirates HAD already beaten them 2-0.

True Professor: like the City of Champions game yesterday...it's really annoying cos sum will comment by only looking at the article,,,no strategies, tactics jus general views and assumptions...maybe SABC should stop repeating games and give us live action,,,,

Disco and Ashley: I believe we all have witnesses here especially kwa Kickoff: This one/two games unnecessary pressure on the coaches and the players...Masango yes has performed very, very well on the two previous games against Pirates and Man City respectively but what does it do for him to be put so much burden so early,,,brothers media doesn't actually put pressure consciously but sumtyms this does have a negative impact (as for instance he will be expected to continue when the season has kicked) what happens if you get different performances,,,,a rhetorical question: will Punch run lyk that the whole season even against Wits (not sure)...maybe if we could refresh,,,Gordon Igesund (Gordon to take the league this season?-after they beat Chiefs), Manqoba Mngithi (Is he talking Arrows to another level-they expected them to take the Telkom until Ajax???), The terrible twins (Gert and Jose)....my concern is for yall to differiantiate and note the different phases in the season: phela with the previous performance,,,Chiefs could win the F.A Cup above Mannchester United...but he has to attend to the interviews, hope he stands the one week fame...

KALI, I LIKE YOUR COMMENTS, HOWEVER.....

1.no trophy yet, thats why the coach previously said he working on depth since we will have a short season and so far the combination has been ok

2.I agree with you yet its good to prepare and keep up the good work and I hope chiefs will do just that

3. I understand, yes but that does not mean you have to play every pre-season game while you know its gonna affect your players....we all know every season chiefs pick up early and fade away as the season continues

4. I'm not being defensive, I'm just supportive to Kaizer cos what he is suggesting makes sense and I'm being supportive to chiefs

5. I think the nature of those injuries were looked at and the management did not see a problem signing them since maybe they knew some other psl teams will snatch them

So I am right. Stop playing with the big dogs if you piss like a poodle....

But what if the big dogs make nosense???????

Valid Point there, The Game. Pining resposibility and focusing attention onto one particular player kills that player, especially the young ones. See what happened to Teko during Confed, he had too much pressure to out-perform himself. Remember Ronaldo at Champions league final, again too much pressure!

BrokeFan: 2009-07-27 14:44

Guys your jealousy is preventing you from thinking straight. We gave you thumbs up for signing good names and now that our players are trying to make a name for themselves you are trying to drag them down. I made a statement earlier in the forum that Chiefs with its ‘average’ players will surprise many and am not surprised to read the comments from the likes of The Game and Mr. Mzukisi and Kali are not surprising me as they hate everything about Chiefs.

The Game: You even went as far as attending Pirate Man City game with your lady and celebrated for 2 nights as you said it in the forum. Now that Chiefs beat the same team in the final nog’al you don’t give us credit.

I am making this statement before top 8 begins. Chiefs will defend the trophy. Like it or not we are at our best.

My question to you The Game – maybe we need to ask TTM about the questions he asked Mandla because it looks you crucifying the boy for answering question positively. He should be excited because he won a medal and to him that is special. There are players who have played before him and the ones who started with him and yet they don’t have medals.

I must agree on one thing though – I always maintained that it does not matter which team comes to Africa, these players will never give their full commitment because they are scared of injuries and the fact that African players are rough also plays a role. We all know how media proclaims those ideas worldwide and we can’t ignore that. Do south Africans value the games against aboLesotho, Zimbabwe, etc? Of course not, that’s why we have people in these forum who believes that Chiefs bought rejects or whatever you call them from Zim. Look at Benjani, was he lucky to play overseas? How many of these so called foreigners comes and go overseas while our beloved players still plays @ home? We must always watch what we say my friend.

However, to all those who think preseason tournaments are useless, they must think twice. Proper planning is needed and these games should be viewed on that note. Fans must learn to stop criticizing unreasonably.

I remain
