Delta State Sports Commission chairman Amaju Pinnick says he won’t apologise to NPL chairman Oyuiki Obaseki, despite an NPL Congress directive to that effect.
Similarly, the club's team manager Okey Nwabeke says the NPL would have to prove a case against him to justify his six-month ban.
Both men were handed the directives at the end of the NPL Congress in Makurdi last week, but Pinnick made it clear the eague body had no basis to order him to apologise, or sanction him if he refused to.
"Obaseki has no locus over me, and so he or the NPL cannot ask me to apologise. I am not a member of the NPL. I am the chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, so what can he do to me if I don’t apologise. He is just an arrogant man who needs to humble himself."
Nwabeke, the defacto team manager of Wolves, added that the NPL did not prove any case against him, and could not therefore sanction him.
"What offence did they say I committed to give me a six-month ban? They should first of all prove any case against me before administering punishment."
