Kano Pillars hit with fine, banished
Title chasers Kano Pillars have been fined N1.8 million and banished to the UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar for the remainder of their home games following crowd trouble which followed their 1-1 home draw against Dolphins on Saturday.

Pillars fans attacked match officials as well as the Dolphins team after a result which could yet cost them the League title.

Referee Gabriel Adigwe, his assistants and the match commissioner were set upon as they made their way to the dressing room, and the NPL has come down hard on the club.

"The Premier League is worried over persistent and unjust attack on match officials in recent times," Tunji Babalola, NPL's Head of Competitions, said while handing down the punishment.

Pillars will pay N1 million to the NPL, and N200 000 each to the four assaulted match officials for a total of N800 000.

Pillars have also been asked to identify the perpetrators of the attack for prosecution.

For once, The NFF takes the Bull by the Horns. That will serve as a lesson to some of the fanatical Northern Teams that the Nigerian league does not belong to them and that they are not above the law.

This punisment is long overdue and if the measure was taken since Kano pillars might not be in the position (1st or 2nd) they find themselves. If this were an international match it is Nigeria and not just pillars that would be in trouble.Other teams/fans should take note and conform to civility.
