Dolphins wreck Kano Pillars hopes
Dolphins all but extinguished Kano Pillars title hopes with a 1-1 draw in Kano on Saturday.

Frustrated Pillars fans went berserk after the game, attacking Dolphins players and officials and holding them hostage.

Enyimba's victory at Ranchers Bees on Thursday meant that Pillars needed to win to return to the top of the log, but Dolphins were in no mood to play ball, literally.

Ghanaian Owusu Addae put the visitors in front after 37 minutes, worsening the home team's already jangling nerves.

It took until deep into second half stoppage time, and after a pitch invasion lasting nearly 20 minutes, before Ahmed Musa converted a penalty.

The goal was clocked at 97 minutes.

Enyimba, who are one point clear with two games in hand, play Gateway in Abeokuta on Sunday.

These people will never change. If politics is a do or die affair must football also toe that line? Is there even any joy in an unworthy victory? How would Kano Pillars fans feel if they had won the league through this crooked means? A worthy champion? I doubt it. Except they are animals. Anyway, that is what you get when you have politician running football.

Jeleel:2010-05-22 21:29

I dont know what else people want from Nigeria Referees, tell me what will be the reaction of other Referees in the remaining matches of the league if little or no punishment is meted on Kano fans.

Embele:2010-05-23 05:32

Up Dolphins! You made Rivers proud. Only in Nigeria a pitch invasion occurs and the game continues. Sore losers, it's a small miracle noone was killed.
Pillars "fans", those are the future Eagles you are attacking. Grow up or just close the league down if you can't handle losing like a human being!

DO WE REALLY NEED TO CRITICICE NOW OR ENCOURAGE OUR TEAM? LETS FACE FACT,WE DID IT AGAINST AMODU AND HE FAILED,MEANING THE COUNTRY FAILED. LETS CHANGE OUR APPROACH THIS TIME BY SUPPORTING OUR TEAM SE,EVERY COUNTRY QUERRIED THEIR TEAM SELECTION IN ONE WAY OR THE OTHER,NIGERIA'S CASE SHOULD NOT BE BLOWN OUT OF PROPORTION.
ON THE LOCAL SCENE,I DONT REALLY UNDERSTAND WHY A TEAM LIKE KANO PILLARS WHO HAS WON SEVERAL AWAY MATCHES SHOULD ATTACK THEIR OPPONENTS SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY WERE ABOUT TO LOSE,IF OTHER TEAMS THEY DEFEATED AT AWAY HAD DONE SAME,MAY BE NO PLAYER WOULD BE LEFT STANDING IN KANO PILLARS TEAM BY NOW. SOMEONE SHOULD EDUCATE US THE MORE.

@ Afeez: It is difficult to believe you are not an Amodu fan. Therefore, the only basis for reasoning is for you to tell us who came 1st, 2nd & 3rd, in the interview conducted for the Super Eagles job. According to reports, your man came 3rd and was imposed on millions of soccer loving Nigerian fans. Now, nemesis has caught up with him and the NFF, you are complaining. Whom do you want Lagerback to invite outside those on board? The difference between Amodu and Lagerback is immeasurable. He dropped players based on their current form in their clubs. He sent his assistants to Europe to see some of these players and he did same himself. Amodu dropped players based on sentiments. How can he tell Nigerians that Nwanneri, who was clubless is better than Adeleye who was playing week in- week out for his club in Holland? Let's not mention Olofinjana. Shittu is not enjoying playing time in Bolton but he has a club and he proved his fitness in the last Nations Cup. There were substitutes for injured Aiyegbeni and Yobo. I am glad you cited Amodu was lazy. Anyway, I respect your opinion because you are entitled to it. Keep well...

Afeez:2010-05-23 10:42

@Hopewell, I am never an Amodu fan and neither will I place him above Sia 1. The bone of contention here is that Mr. Udoh is claiming there is no difference between Amodu and Largerback based on their players' selections which I am vehemently against for the fact that while the former failed to introduce new players into the team despite his long romance with the team, the latter would have done so but robbed by time and, to this effect, has to make do with the already established players. This is consequent upon which his selection is slightly different from that of Amodu. The fact is the two coaches are not the same by any standard. There is a marginal difference between Largerback and Amodu. Amodu needs 50 years on intensive coaching lecture to achieve the feat of Largerback. To this end, I can say without any equivocation that Mr. Collin Udoh is sublimely wrong in his argument.

Kano Pillars fans demostrated the level of thinking in our society. Mentality of "winning at all means". I want to see what the NFF will do to them.

We're a backward bunch of idiots! Its no wonder we remain a joke to the rest of the world. Why would anybody decide that invading the pitch and doing harm to the referee and opposing players would solve anything? Just never seize to amaze me

ALIKO DANGOTE wants to buy Arsenal
Published: May 23, 2010
A billionaire Nigerian tycoon is planning to enter the race to snap up a 16% stake in Arsenal.

Aliko Dangote - one of Africa's richest men - is said to have registered his interest in the shareholding being sold by the club's fourth largest investor Lady Nina Bracewell-Smith.

Mr Dangote is reportedly a passionate football fan and has the wealth to go head-to-head with the two big Arsenal investors, American sports entrepreneur Stan Kroenke and Russian oligarch Alisher Usmanov.

Finance house Blackstone is now thought to have placed him on the shortlist to buy the Arsenal stake.

Lady Bracewell-Smith is said to be seeking £160million for her stake after putting it on the sale block earlier this year
