The Ghanaian is enjoying Premiership football even though he has been beset by injury problems since arriving last summer.
But when he has been fit, Mensah has impressed on the field, stringing together three rare starts recently and is now hoping that could help clinch a deal even though he knows that is out of his hands.
"I've been to so many clubs and I cannot say I have to stay or I have to go,” he told SAFC TV.
"I like Sunderland. They treat me well and keep me happy. The physios work hard on my fitness and give me more confidence to come back fit and give everything possible for the team.
"I don't feel anything bad and I am happy to stay, but that depends on my agent, the club and the manager."
While Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has spoken in glowing terms about the quality Mensah he has also admitted his level of fitness worries and revealed recently that the Ghanaian will need to have surgery and sit out of football for up to year to sort out the problem. |
