World Champions France have named their latest squad for their Euro 22 qualifiers this month with Alexandre Lacazette and Aymeric Laporte snubbed once again by manager Didier Deschamps.

In his first French national team squad selection of 2019, Wissam Ben Yedder, Laporte and Lacazette are amongst the high profile omissions.

FC Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele misses out through injury he suffered in their UEFA Champions League victory over Lyon on Wednesday - while Manchester United's Anthony Martial returns.

With Les Blues set to face Iceland in their pair of qualifiers for Euro 2020, Deschamps explained the reasoning behind leaving Ben-Yedder and Lacazette out.

Ben Yedder has enjoyed a sterling season with Sevilla with 34 goal contributions (26 goals, eight assists) in 42 games, while Lacazette has amassed 25 (14 goals, 11 assists) in 37 games for Arsenal.

"I don't think they will be happy today," he said, as per France Football. "They are doing a lot of very good things, but I have to make choices.

"They are both closer in style to each other than Giroud. Giroud is less used in the Premier League, but what he does for us..."
