EPL: Hammers claim London derby spoils

West Ham United claimed the spoils in the London derby, while Watford showed Cardiff City no mercy on Friday evening.

West Ham United 3-1 Fulham

West Ham United dented Fulham’s chances of avoiding relegation with a 3-1 win in the Premier League clash on Friday night.

Ryan Babel offered the Cottagers hope of victory with an early opener in the third minute but Javier Hernandez levelled matters for the Hammers with a controversial diving header that appeared to hit his hand on its way towards goal.

Issa Diop made it 2-1 for the hosts five minutes before time, before Michail Antonio sealed the three points for Manuel Pellegrini’s charges late in the second half.

West Ham find themselves in ninth on the table following the victory, while Fulham are second from bottom.

Cardiff City 1-5 Watford

Watford piled more pressure on relegation-threatened Cardiff City with a 5-1 thumping inspired by a hat-trick by Gerard Deulofeu in the Premier League clash on Friday night.

Deulofeu opened the scoring for the Hornets in the 18th minute and netted two goals within two minutes just after the hour-mark to give the visitors a 3-0 lead before Troy Deeney made it 4-0 in the 73rd minute.

Sol Bamba scored a consolation goal for Cardiff eight minutes before time while Deeney completed the rout in stoppage timewith his second of the game.

The Bluebirds are dangerously lying 17th on the table, while Watford moved up to seventh on the log with 40 points from the same number of matches.
