Graham signs for Cape Town City

Cape Town City have handed former Ajax Cape Town captain Travis Graham a lifeline following his prolonged spell without a club.

City confirmed the signing Graham, following a successful assesment, on Thursday on what is believed to be a short-term deal until the end of the season, with an option to extend.

The 25-year-old has been in limbo since the end of the 2016/17 season, after turning down a renewal offer from the Urban Warriors with the intention of moving to Europe.

However, a deal overseas failed to materialise and the former junior international midfielder has since returned to The Mother City in hopes of resurrecting his career.

Graham last kicked a ball in a competitive match when Ajax lost 1-0 to Baroka on 27 May 2017, and it is expected to take some time before breaking into coach Benni McCarthy's line-up.

The Citizens, who walloped Highlands Parked in the Nedbank Cup last weekend, will next face Maritzburg United in an Absa Premiership clash at home on Saturday afternoon.
